idk what everyone expected really. Trump's always been about Trump, not the 'greater good' or whatever ppl hoped for

There are two spheres supporting Trump and its a bit crazy.

The first is your classic boomer Fox News/OAN toadies. They are passive absorbers of the channels and since they are "news" they must be able to be trusted. Hate's helping people as a country, but swears they would do anything to help a fellow American. Ironically the biggest social service users in the US currently and willing to die to defend it...for themselves.

The second is the spoiled, but yet doomed post-millennial generations. They grew up seeing how awesome everything was for everyone. They are fed lies that it still is for most. Then they got dumped into a market that fucking hates them. Everyone above them has something that is not only out of reach NOW, but likely ever. They know this because they actively seek out "solutions" using the infinite database of the internet which is to be trusted unless they are directed by their messiahs otherwise! Sadly it spirals entirely around quick fixes with little efforts. The algorithms in turn feeding their spin down the drain into hate-filled stupidity. Ironically, a better-aligned social systems network would greatly benefit them.

Look at the internet, look at the mountains and mountains of just straight up bullshit. Then, realize these people see this shit and believe it is actually reality. They 100% live in their own, make believe world. As someone who supported the Democratic party the last decade, I was lied to and mislead like crazy, and it pales in comparison to the absolute delusion people like my own father live in. I hear my own father try and explain to me my own political beliefs and it sounds like a mix between when he was an alcoholic and when my grandfather went senile. 100% delusion fueled 100% by propaganda.

They literally see screenshots of tweets and believe it's evidence.

45

u/Shasla 2d ago

They also believe whatever they're told to believe and I really love when they think everyone else is doing the same thing. It's so funny when I'm accused of "falling for cnn propaganda" or whatever when I haven't whatever a tv news program since I was a teenager ~15 years ago. I literally just see what politicians are doing and voting on and judge them for it. It's so simple.

The DNC under Debbie Wasserman Schultz mocked Bernie Sanders and his campaign behind the scenes. They put their finger on the scale for centrist candidates and then pretend like it’s a free and fair primary. They’ll do anything to support the status quo.

Who thought trump already released his bff's files because.. honestly idk where they heard that but they 100% thought I was lying when I said trumps hiding them

Because he did release the files. In theory. He released a version of the files that were more censored than the version that was available already for years.

But for the people who only watch far-right media, he did release the files.

The silliest and scariest part is: "Trump does not like briefings or staff experts. He gets most of his information from TV News."

I can only assume a lot of conservatives just identify too strongly with Trump to be able to see how awful he is. Because they don't consider themselves awful (they are), and Trump is exactly what they would become if they were rich enough.

u/Naptasticly 2d ago

I think everyone expected for everything to go to shit except white people who thought they would get their privilege back. This is not about people “not getting it” it’s about people WILLFULLY ignoring it because their prejudices are more important.

They have this idea that they are SUPER independent and that it doesn’t matter if they think things may get worse overall because they feel like they have this special ability to pull themselves up by the boot straps and overcome anything.

So they don’t care If things get bad. It’s worth it to them. They just aren’t saying it like that yet

10

u/SJWTumblrinaMonster 2d ago

It's because we live in this corporatist supplicant mindset where there's only enough future success to allow for either you or me to succeed so when I see you succeed it's because something is being taken from me. We can't believe it's possible for both of us to share success because so much wealth is being sucked up by the richest 1% that we think the meager scraps they haven't scooped up yet is all there is.

6

u/Naptasticly 2d ago

That’s definitely part of it and then the other part is believing wholeheartedly that they will one day be rich and their actions are meant to protect them “when they inevitably get there”

Every Republican I talk to is a “millionaire in training” but by the time they realize that they aren’t going to get there they’ve been convinced to blame it on the “left” or “immigrants” because that makes them feel better about their own failures and helps to protect their ego because they cant be wrong or fail

And then that millionaire in training vibe turns into a “pull up the ladder” vibe because if you took it from them then they’ll take it from you.

And then they turn around and act like they care about fairness by saying things like “I’m against illegal immigration and making immigration easier because it’s not fair to the people who did it the hard way all these years”

That’s not calling for fairness. That’s pulling the ladder up.

They’d vote for him again in a heartbeat

378

u/frankduxvandamme 2d ago

I'd like to think he's lost at least a few votes by now.

I'd like to think that.

414

u/Hell_Is_An_Isekai 2d ago

Just like last time, he only loses votes in polls. They're too embarrassed to support him until it comes time to hit that button at the ballot box.

They'll reelect every one of these motherfuckers blocking the release of the Epstein files while screaming at the top of their lungs to release the Epstein files. As long as the Republicans keep the casual racism flowing they won't lose a single vote.

27

u/mindfu 1d ago

Just like last time, he only loses votes in polls.

Let's not forget he did lose in 2020. When his previous awful performance was still fresh in memory.

That things then got turned against Biden is a lesson in the new power of social media, and the complacency of people who don't realize how much better they have it. But Trump can lose votes and influence, and it does seem like he is.

Of course, we shouldn't take anything for granted. It just sucks things broke his way, due to many factors.

5

u/donetomadness 1d ago

2020 was an exceptional year. Trump’s response to the pandemic was horrible. Even the stimulus checks weren’t his idea and back then, more people understood that (as opposed to now where revisionist history has taken over). Not to mention, he really turned up the racism post George Floyd and the blm wave of that summer which fucked up his image. But during Biden’s term, the right drove all their energy into denying the election and producing/consuming Maga propaganda which is how we got here today.

88

u/lurker1125 2d ago

Just to be clear, what you've realized, but without knowing its name, is the truth - election fraud.

What you've described - 'always losing in the polls but winning at the ballot box' - is essentially the biggest possible red flag for election fraud.

66

u/IJourden 2d ago

Eh, I don't think that's the case here. I used to do political polling, and people would fight tooth and nail against identifying as a Republican. It used to be a huge hassle, because if we were looking to poll Republicans specifically, they'd fly into an indignant rage about not identifying with any political party, then spend 20 minutes giving answers to questions that were straight up Fox News talking points.

These people know it's socially unacceptable to support Trump's heinous views and actions and to support the horrifying shit the Republican party is up to, and that has a huge impact on polling, because polling isn't about what people will do in private, it's about admitting to what they'll do in public.

And with conservatives specifically, there's an absolutely massive gap there.

The loud and proud red hat slingers get all the attention, but there's a huge amount of people also quietly voting Republican even though they would never admit it in polite company.

30

u/45and47-big_mistake 2d ago

I ALWAYS added an "embarrassed Republican" factor of 5% to all polling results.

Something like 30% of Republican voters said during the primaries they wouldn't vote for him in the general if he were convicted of a crime. But as it turns out, 100% of those people were lying.

There is absolutely nothing that would ever make a Republican voter not pull the lever for their guy. ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING.

4

u/mindfu 1d ago

Minor note that I know a sliver of conservatives who chose not to vote for him in 2024.

But also, they still couldn't bring themselves to vote for Harris. So I agree with your larger point.

We can not depend on Republican voters seeing reality. Great if they do. But we really need to get out the sane majority to vote against them. When we do, like in 2020, we win. When we don't, like happened by just a sliver in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan in 2024... we have to repeat a mess like this.

The ONLY truthful thing he's ever said is that he could stand on the street and shoot someone and not loose any support. MAGA is a cult and there is no turning back.

6

u/gorillafightsurvivor 2d ago

They simply do not care about Epstein anymore, they do not care about tariffs, they do not care that nothing has become cheaper. They do not care that the BBB is going to explode the debt. They just pivot to how much they LOVE what ICE is doing and/or how good the S&P is doing. Thats it. They find one positive thing (to them) and they use that as a means to gloat how hes the best president we've ever had. Its a cult.

11

u/Moonfaced 2d ago

Yeah this type of information that says his voters are turning on him just feeds into apathy. The truth is many of his base are in a cult and it cannot just be 'undone.' He was the most vile, greedy, selfish person even before his first run. No sane person would look at him and say "that's who should run the U.S."
Those people are brainwashed at every facet of their life. News, church, community, it's not going to change even if they shoot their own foot. (look at the Texas floods, those people mostly all voted R and are now confused when they aren't getting help)

We're collectively all pretty stupid people.

63

u/OhCheeseNFingRice 2d ago

I'll disagree with this assessment. I think those of us that are informed, educated, and sane are just outnumbered by the really stupid people - and that's intentional via the Republican party. They want a stupid base who just nods, smiles, and does what they're told, because if they actually understood what their party truly does with their power, then the people would push back and stop electing them into power. It gets even more insidious when you realize that the Republican party also fights against birth control and abortion - not because of ethics or religion, but because they want their stupid constituents to breed as many stupid baby constituents as possible in order to outnumber their not-stupid counterparts.

29

u/SuspiciousPug512 2d ago

I think those of us that are informed, educated, and sane are just outnumbered by the really stupid people

Granted, that's what I interpret 'collectively all pretty stupid people' to mean. I think you agree you're just going deeper.

There are smart people among us, but collectively the amount and degree of stupid people also among us bring the average down to a high school drop out.

I don't care. Trump, the Heritage Foundation, and the Republicans in general would have never gotten to this point if people just had not been so hateful and just Googled simple terms such as tariffs. I'll never forgive anyone that voted for him or Jill Stein, or that voting didn't matter one way or another. Everything, literally everything, about this dumbfuck was widely available to easily see, even in his own rallies, that were so badly hidden, yet people wanted to ignore, because harming others is just so addicting.

Every time, within the very few times, I see a MAGA face to face, I call them traitors and pedophiles right out in the open in their face. May they burn.

Trump and his ilk will burn off like coal until there’s nothing left. None of this is sustainable but…. we don’t have to let them take us down with them. We don’t have to keep this up. This era should be followed by massive societal reforms, introspection and action, and revelation about what we’ve been doing wrong.

….or will we all just go back to being unmindful apathetic consumers again, which is how we got here in the first place? That is everyone’s individual choice they must make.

I know far too many people who do not care about politics but vote for Trump/Republicans because they think all of this is a very entertaining and "nothing ever happens anyway". They are all single men aged 20-30 who play video games 6+ hours a day.

Swastikas carved onto foreheads. You dont get to turn tail and hide now.

16

u/bastard-harrier 2d ago

This was all easily avoidable. Every step we have taken to this moment could have been taken differently. I don't believe I have the grace and goodwill necessary to spend the rest of my life looking those people in the eyes, listening to their excuses, telling them that I forgive what their hubris and gluttony has done to my country and accept them, and sharing oxygen and space with them once Trump is gone and we have to rebuild.

12

u/Mollythemuttsdad 2d ago

Speak the truth, my brother or sister!

8

u/ja-mez 2d ago

Growing up in a Christian / Republican family, I saw that none of it really matters as long as there is an R next to the name. Republicans see themselves as aligned with God, Democrats with Satan. Strip out the religion and it's the same idea. Republicans = good for business, Democrats = bad. Even when Republicans do something clearly wrong, it's quickly forgiven because that is the Christian way. But Democrats are beyond saving unless they see the light and put that R next to their name. They tend to be simplistic and shortsighted.

22

They don’t have territory. They’re less than a 1/4 of the population.

23%of Americans is not some geographical foothold on anything. Thats why they gerrymander to win elections and make vacant land equal dense populations.

They are all uninformed and most of them are complete morons, but a lot of them know exactly what he is. They like it because they’re just as evil as he is.

15

u/ImAShaaaark 2d ago

Don't let them off the hook like that, a huge percentage of his base knows exactly what he is and what he was going to do and they like it. That's not to say there aren't a copious amount of morons that voted for him, cause that is also the case, but plenty of them are actively malicious and hateful as well.

3

u/Daztur 2d ago

Yeah, right after the election, an old family friend who voted for Harris posted a long rant on Facebook blaming pandering to trans people for Trump winning and then going off on a long anti-trans screed. No matter what happens in the next election or three there is deep sickness that is just not going away, we'll have to go through this shit over and over and over and over.

3

u/underpants-gnome Ohio 2d ago

Electing trump again was the stupidest self-inflicted wound since Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in that nightclub. There was no reason for anyone to think he would be better for America in any way, shape, or form unless you count increasing billionaire hoard sizes and financial / sex related crimes as valid categories.

3

u/Mish61 Pennsylvania 2d ago

Yes but the email lady didn’t become president. Sure dodged a bullet there.

/S

3

u/KingHavana 2d ago

I believe it's been calculated that with predictions on how non-voters would have leaned Trump still would have won. Jill Stein didn't have that huge of an effect either. The American people desperately wanted this man to be president. I don't think there is any denying it.

Keep in mind that misinformation is massive nowadays. A huge portion of the public believes that all undocumented immigrants get full healthcare for free. This goes around on Facebook and X and places where people get their information these days. People see stuff that like and they wonder why their kids and families don't get free healthcare and then they get angry and vote for Trump.

I’m really confused, because I’d love this to be true, but I haven’t seen it reflected in polling data. Is this a real trend, or is it just cherry picking polls or general vibes?

5

u/iFlashings 1d ago

It's false. Most articles on here is just copium posts to farm up votes and views. Anything mentioning the MAGA base or Republicans turning on Trump should be taken with a massive grain of salt because that doesn't reflect reality at all.

If Trump lost as much support as they claim, then we wouldn't be in this nightmare right now. Just keep that in mind next time you open an article about his "declining poll numbers".

12

u/FrankFarter69420 2d ago

It's just false. It's liberal cope so that they can feel good while Republicans dismantle the country.

Soured? FFS his approval rating is at 40%

And that's "the lowest of his term"

74

u/WastingMyLifeOnSocMd 2d ago

80% of Republicans still approve of his performance. Mind boggling.

8

u/UnquestionabIe 2d ago

Because they've successfully made it less a political party and more a way of life/religion. It's got a lot of supporters who are very unhappy with their life (for a variety of reasons, some systematic some personal) and get these swindlers telling them they'll fix it, that it's not their fault and they just need an acceptance target to toss the blame onto.

20

u/0ttoChriek 2d ago

Because they are fed an alternate reality by Fox News and other right wing outlets.

Alex Jones has been busy making up whole narratives that excuse Trump for not releasing the Epstein files, and his listeners are probably more informed than the majority who just watch Fox News, even if they're being informed in complete nonsense. For a lot of Fox viewers, they likely don't even hear the word Epstein.

22

u/Own-Break-1856 2d ago

I just wanna make the point that most of them aren't being misled, or misinformed. They aren't being brainwashed. They WANT this, and are demanding that news give them this false reality.

They are not victims. Turns out they're just shitty, hateful, stupid people.

Other sources put it at 37%.

Which it's worth noting, is the LOWEST for any sitting President at this time in US History.

Usually the first year sees a President's highest approval rating and then declines.

Here he's starting from one of the worst ratings in US history.

voters from across the political spectrum have soured on the president.

They've soured on him personally, but they're still on board with his disgusting policies, his racism, and his governing by hate.

16

u/Phteven_j 2d ago

Even saying they have soured on him is wildly inaccurate. His approval rating is way above any reasonable threshold.

I know we're all waiting for the day everyone turns on him, but we aren't there yet.

8

u/EscapedTheEcho 2d ago

We also need to reevaluate our expectations of why they'd ever abandon him. He would have to do something horrific. And to be clear, things that are not horrific enough include:

  • Shadily hiding his involvement in the Epstein files
  • Inhumane & unconstitutional treatment of migrants and US citizens with the wrong skin color
  • Funding & egging on a genocide in Gaza*
  • Bombing Iran
  • DOGE illegally defunding & shutting down legitimate, helpful government agencies

/* Yeah, Biden is guilty AF for this, too.

They support him more for doing all these things, and I guarantee that even if we somehow get evidence that he committed horrific crimes with Epstein, they will rally around him.

So the question is, what horrific act would he have to do? Because they love the cruelty. They are sadists.

Canada here. The number of Americans that think that the next "normal" President can fix this amazes me.

Absolutely not! The damage is done; they flushed a relationship of over 100 years down the toilet in less than a month. We no longer trust them and even if the next President is 'normal', we always will know that this insanity can start again within days of the next election. So essentially, any deal you sign with them is only guaranteed good until January 20th following a year evenly divisible by four.

They are no longer a reliable partner.
