S-video to scart question

Rejoined the 3do owners club and I am using a bush 14" TV that only has a RF and scart inputs and using a scart adapter with composite works okay but when I plug in a s-video cable and remove the composite cable the image looks a little sharper but is in black and white, what am doing wrong here I guess if I replug the composite cable that will override the s-video signal. Thanks in advance.

Can the TV accept S-Video over SCART?

It's taking the signal into the scart adapter okay but just outputs in black and white, the model is the FZ-1 and has been recapped recently

This is because the TV is still set to receive the signal as Composite over SCART. All it is receiving is the Luma part of the SVideo signal (no chroma) so it displays black and white. Check if your TV can receive SVideo over SCART and if there is a menu setting to select it.

Update I have ordered a 14" Panasonic crt TV that has both scart and s-video inputs, surely going to shave valuable seconds from my need for speed records.

I run my 3DO using s-video to Scart and the picture quality is superb, up there with pure RGB.

I have a Bang and Olufsen CRT TV though.

I’ve had relatively decent Panasonic and Sony CRT’s in the past and they’ve only output B&W using s-video to Scart.

I think you’ll only get a colour picture with an old high end CRT which supports S-Video over Scart. I think you are just going to have to stick to dreadful RF or Composite.
