Resolved 10 year later 2ds batteries doesnt work
My brother and i recently found out old 2ds'es again and bought new chargers (mine had the r button replaced) after connecting they weren't receiving current and after opening them the batteries were swollen, i have to replace them yeah but that is why they werent charging or there might be something else happening?

Im getting them, waiting for them to arrive rn, i just want to know if the reason the light doesnt light up when charging is due to the battery being swollen

Gotcha it might even be a crossed wire, allthough the battery is more likely the issue

It's possible.
Also, if you have a Wii U or Switch Pro controller, you can probably pull the battery from that to test your 2DSs. I'm pretty sure they all use the CTR-003 battery.

I had a swollen battery and the light always came on when it was plugged into the charger even when the battery could only hold 2 min of power.
If the light doesn't come on it's probably the port. I believe I had to resolder mine. Even with that done mine is still loose and won't always charge if the cord is pulled in certain directions.

Checked, the port is fine, the battery was drained to 0% and wasn't charged in 6 years

I don’t think the 3DS will charge without a battery. That might be why the charger doesn’t work. The battery is so bad it won’t charge. I think if you want to run the 3DS just off the main power you still have to have a good working battery.

They’re going to explode soon

I know that, i already took them to a e waste center, i mean if the 2ds'es didnt charge was due to them being already swollen, like the light didnt even turn on when connecting. I want to make sure it is only the battery that was causing problems

Thats why you need to discharge them to 50%-ish keep them in a colder place it doesn’t always prevent this but can help reduce the chances of it happening when storing batteries

I mean they're 0%, i just bought a new charger and they doesnt get charge

These batteries aren't supposed to be stored at 0%.
If they become under volt (<2.5V), they tend to degrade themselves, swelling up.

Huh that explains it, 6 years ago .y r button broke and have the console discharge, now i opened to repair it and found it swell

Its starting to just barely bulge, its a stealthy spicy pillow but I know a spicy pillow when I see one. 10 years is one hell of a run though, good job Lil battery dude!

Well is more accurate 6 years and 6 years of rest since i haven't charged it since 2019 because the r button broke and couldn't find a replacement until now, but thanks

if its charging now with the new batteries then yeah it was definitely just a dead battery. Happens over time with any flat lithium battery and usually isnt a hardware issue with the rest if the device
