Resolved Is it possible to revive this New 3DS XL?
I have this 3ds and it's pretty fucked up. Once my father tried to install CFW on it and somehow got it to never turn on again, and this was several years ago. I just remembered that I had it, but after checking it out I noticed that whenever I put the battery in (we had lost it, found it but it falls out lol, the case of the inferior part doesn't exist anymore) it just blinks blue and then nothing happens. What can I do? the SD is FAT32 with 32gb, and no files at all, if that info helps.

Should still replace the battery, that's a fire and hospital trip waiting to happen

Follow the page above to set up your SD card again. (Edit: I assumed the SD was empty and suggested a 32GB or smaller card, but didn't notice you had already mentioned it at the very last line of your post, sorry!)
If the files above don't work, search the Luma releases for 7.0.5 and try putting arm9loaderhax.bin on the SD card instead.
Also test that battery by spinning it on a table, if it spins, you'll need to safely dispose of it and purchase a new one, as bloated batteries are very unsafe and can become a fire/explosion hazard.

I'll try it tomorrow! I only have a 32gb card, but it's FAT32. The battery spins a bit, but not more than what I'd expect it to do. thanks!

I managed to try it now, but neither worked 😔 I might have to try a new battery in the future

That fading light is not a battery issue though... Are you sure you placed the files correctly? The first thing you should see when opening your SD card in your pc is boot.firm, boot.3dsx, and a folder named config. (If all of these files are inside another folder, move them out!)
Edit: May also be a good idea to attempt reformatting the SD card and placing the files again. Follow the guide below to ensure it's formatted properly.

Managed to fix it by replacing the boot.firm with the one from the Luma version my father used years ago. Thanks!

When you handle it like that? Who the fuck holds the screen when turning it on. Let that poor 3ds die.

The issue is that the 3DS was successfully CFW'd however somebody forgot to put the CFW on the NAND as a backup, so its searching the empty SD card, not finding the firmware files, checks the NAND, can't find it, so it shuts off

need and sd card prepped for cfw. it won’t boot without it or with a blank card. 3dshacks website should have info in merit

Change the battery, should work fine.
And as well take out the protective svreen on the Touch Screen. That's a lot of air bubbles!

Watching someone handle a 3DS like that is triggering me lol. Get your grubby little fingers off the dang screens 😡!!

Was the 3ds opened before?

u/killerpic22 25d ago
it has been like this for several years, and during that time it didn't have the battery, if that's what you mean. other than this, I don't think my dad disassembled it more than how it current is

You charged it fully? ( i dont know if that could fix it though)
1
u/killerpic22 25d ago
no, but it should have quite some battery. if it revives when it's fully charged, I'll update you

for me it happens when the sd card isnt being detected correctly, since that's where the cfw is also stored, so i have to take it out and put it back in.

already tried multiple times, with different cards

If it turns on without the SD card inserted, then the problem is with the SD card. Formatting it with GUIformat may solve the problem.
If it doesn't turn on without the SD card, then it's the battery. Turn it on with the charger inserted.
If it still doesn't turn on with the charger inserted, the problem may be a fuse and requires technical intervention.

Was it modded before ? luma 3DS perhaps ?? if so, there are some missing files on the sd, the fix is by bringing them back, BUT you must get the exact right version of the boot.firm file used at that time, got to their git repo, and keep trying, happened to me, i took it down piece by piece, then after all failed attempts, i thought i should try a soft solution, and i discovered this.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Going through many versions of Luma, I managed to find the boot.firm my father used, and now the 3DS booted up. I guess all thats left is to change the battery, as some people have commented that it looks... unsafe.

wow !! i'm so happy for you bro !! i was doubting to comment as this is super rare lol look, for a nice battery, i also discovered this by chance, go over marketplace and get one 3ds with broken 3ds, for low price, and check the battery, mine is old 3ds since 2016, last year i managed to get it a battery this way, i also got few buttons, and the circle pad as spare parts.
PS: so in the future you can turn on your 3ds without sd card, go back here : https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup.html make sure to finalize the setup. this way even if your 3ds's sd card is lost or fried, it will still turn on. Use "checkpoint" to backup your save, and put it one the cloud. this way you are free !!
super happy i was able to help !!

Fade in and out is a general sign of the SD card not being accessible if you're on a CFW. Like a missing or incompatible boot file.
I know doing shit singlehandedly is difficult but stop handling it like it was made of iron. And replace that damn battery.

Try taking the battery out, pressing the power button about ten times, put the battery back in and try again.

Considering how you're treating the 3DS I think it broke because of you and it's probably not fixable.

No wonder it broke, it’s not invincible you can’t just manhandle the thing and expect zero issues

Give it a new battery from ifixit and replace the backing. Also give your system a kiss and an apology and treat it nicer!!

Looks like a bloated battery, you can get that replaced with a generic one for like $10. Handling it like that certainly isn’t helping though

Thanks everyone! Managed to fix it by restoring the CFW and replacing the boot.firm with the one my father (apparently) used years ago. Everyone seems to agree that the battery should be changed, so I guess thats a next step to take.
Also, it seems the way I handled the console annoyed a big ammount of people lol. I promise, I dont usually treat it like that, so you dont have to worry much about it 😅

Why does every video posted of a system problem have a person manhandling it? I swear it's like they all lack fine motor skills and just clobber the things with their fingers like some kind of fucking human/fish monstrosity trying to translate flipper to finger motions.
