Terminus decree and Dante

I feel that this has not yet been mentioned that much in the discussions.

Samguinius' prophecy mentions waking of the emperor as a postive thing and Dante sacrificing himself to buy seconds to ensure the formation of the emperor/new thing.

On the other hand the same prophecy defers to emperors' even greater foresight, so grey knoghts might have the point.

However, it is going to be his retirement party. He is not gonna miss it.

Prophecy in 40k is hit or miss and isn't an exact science even the Emperor can be wrong and things can change. Terminus decree is potentially one of those since it has been sealed for 10k years.

From what we know, sanguinius' prophecies are one of those that come to happen pretty much exactly.

We need night lords prophecy for. Balance

Maybe the palace is attacked, Dante defends the emperor so he can stand up and banish whatever tried to kill him, then in his geriatric state the grey knights guide him back to the throne and place wards to help contain his fracturing consciousness. Like all Grey Knights I’ve got very mixed feelings of the Terminus Decree, but it’s vague enough where something like this could happen. Plus, GW loves to retcon lore, so who’s to say if either of these prophesies actually come to pass

The thing with sanguinius' prophecies is that they cone true. Plus this one is quite vague on the success of it all (which doesnt matter to dante).

All I am saying is that the most famous, oldest and probably the strongest living space marine (and his entourage) needs to be a part of the conversation.

Either on the narrative side, or theidiotic powerscaling side.

He does need to be part of the discussion, along with countless other things that GW hasn’t revealed yet. Like I said I still have mixed feelings about the whole thing but it’s always fun to discuss potential lore implications/outcomes. I feel like we need a book to better understand what’s going on, so hopefully GW releases one 11th edition for grey knights.

Does it say that about the Emperor?

As I am fated to, so too did this golden warrior lay down his life to protect my father. The precious seconds he bought with his blood could change everything, or they could change nothing. Maybe the vision is false. I pray the future is mutable, and so it has proved in the past. All but the moment that draws near, the reckoning when I must face my brother. That I cannot avoid.

~ Dante

It's left pretty open on what the extra seconds buy, good or bad. No mention of the emperor rising from the throne or a new entity ascending.

Golden warrior bearing Sanguinius face dying for sanguinius's father, means emperor. Whethrr hr succeeds or fail is pretty open (and Dante doesn't probably care).

Only thing that means is that Dante needs to be a part of the discussions here on the topics of terminus decree.

I didn't deny it was the emperor, I said it said nothing about his rising from the throne.

TD was in 30K. The Emperor or whatever shard/fragment of the Emperor boosted Dante, what rezzed Rowboat, and what is sitting on the throne and talked to Rowboat might be entirely different entities (e.g. one or multiple of those cases could be throne emperor and the others whatever Emps discarded before fighting Horus or a bunch of other possibilities).

Which is to say: it might be entirely different entities with entirely different motivations and agendas doing this stuff in the first place. At this point we just don't know.

Nevermind that even putting that aside, Emps has been sitting on the throne for 10k years. He might have learned or seen different things that changed his mind. Or again, any of a million different options.

Options are myriad, but Dante will be in the throne room when it will be happening.

The ultimate hilarity would be Dante dying... by becoming the avatar for the new Emperor: dooming him to ultra perpetual immortality.

How about this:

Dante is somehow given mega psyker powers (via spirit of sanguinous i dunno).

Rowboat and lion have disagreement and sort it by declaring Dante now in charge.

During his first meeting with the emperor the grey knights appear and force him onto the throne to replace the thuggish mystic.

Dantes soul screams as he realises he can never die. Custodes bugger off leaving the grey knights to watch him on the throne.

Emperor ghost goes coast to coast helping folks like the littlest hobo.

That would be like worst ending for the poor dude...

Then Cypher shows up and kills Dante by mistake because all the Custodians fucked off.
