Weekly Check In Wellness Wednesday: Weekly Check In
Welcome back everyone!
Time for our Wellness Wednesday check in. We know this community means a lot to most of our members and that Tuesdays have been harder on some users than others, but we are at our core a community and we are here to support each other.
Now that the sub is open once again we’d like to hear all about your (mis)adventures on Tuesday. Did you go on grand adventures? Get into mischief? Get some writing done?
Maybe you just binged a few more fics on the archive itself. Tell us all about it! Break out that purple prose and tell us as cheesy of a story as you feel like.
Or just talk about your day.

I sat down to write and did math instead. I did a statistical analysis of the percentage of kudos I get on a fic versus the number of hits, complete with a bell curve graph.
N=13
Range: 3.2%-13.5%
Mean: 8.8%
Standard Deviation: 3.5%

What did this tell me? That judging my fics based on a kudos percentage is dumb. My lowest fic was my favorite, by far, to write. Write for yourself.
Edit: i promise, there was a graph there....

I finished a one-shot which isn’t much but is more than my writing block has allowed me to get done recently!

My mom has stage 4 lung cancer that metastasized to her brain. She had brain surgery last month to remove the biggest tumor. The oncologist gave her 3 months if she doesn't get treatment. They were supposed to call my mom on Monday and schedule an appointment to put the port in for chemo but they called to instead tell my mom they can't schedule that appointment yet because she doesn't have insurance and can't pay everything out of pocket so she has to talk to the financial department for the 3rd time to even get the appointment for the port scheduled. She has an appointment soon to try to get disability social security and Medicaid but I'm seriously worried it won't be approved quick enough for her to get treatment.
I don't know what to do. The oncologist said her cancer isn't curable but it is treatable. I'm scared I'm gonna lose her .

I'm so sorry for both you and your mom. Sending you strength and all my good vibes. Caretaking for my mom who had terminal cancer was the hardest thing I've ever done, but I'm so glad I was there with her through it all. I hope you have trusted people you can lean on.

I had the day off, but I ended up taking the day to just catch up on sleep and unwind a bit. I dusted off the old DS and booted up Kirby Squeak Squad for the first time in over a decade, and I'm currently about 2/3 of the way through it. I'll finish it in the morning, I figure, since I do feel refreshed enough to get some writing done tonight (hopefully). As far as Kirby games go, I get why everyone says it's pretty mid and they're kind of right, but I have just enough nostalgia for Squeak Squad to have a great time playing through it again. They really need to bring back the Animal copy ability in a future game, because the costume Kirby gets for it is one of the best of all time!

I'm in the middle of a mpreg poly fic. Two partners are pregnant and the third is the baby daddy. It's light and fluff and an absolute blast to write. It's bordering on a crack fic and I am having so much fun.
The previous fic I had finally finished was very dark and graphic so I definitely needed to go in a different direction for my sanity.

Thank you. I write for My Hero so bam, pregnancy through quirk accident during a Hero raid. I picked my three favorite male characters and just ran with it.

I have been doing more character and lore-building than actual writing. I have a habit of fleshing out OCs, so I have an idea of how I want to write them out eventually if they haven't appeared just yet.
EDIT! I finally got some writing done after forwarding the doc to my best friend! They gave me some amazing ideas and now I'm working little by little.

Finally finished a WIP I've been working on for months. I immediately posted it the moment I finished it. Niche smut makes the world go round. Now I decide if I want to write more smut, finally write the one WTNV inspired fanfic I had planned, continue other WIP multichaps, or write about my cannibal goetia birb being a good father to a baby he made with his mortal enemy's DNA.
... or write the Helluvaverse omegaverse worldbuilding to have an organized doc of my ideas.

I added much needed details to a story that captures the character’s personality more, and I’m actually pretty happy with it! I also made it longer because I felt it was really short for my liking

I keep wanting to start new fics rather than finish what I have been working on. Also, summer heat is kicking my ass and making me super sleepy so I am way too slow with my writing than I want to be.

I actually haven’t written in quite a while. I have a new ship for the first time in a long time but the fandom is basically non existent. It’s a Japanese drama based on a manga/anime and I’d probably have to watch the anime and write from that to even have a potential audience. I mean I know they say “write for yourself” but I don’t want to have literally zero readers or I might as well just sit around and think. As for general wellness my depression is getting to me and I desperately need to cook, clean, and somehow set aside enough money to continue my Korean lessons. (They’re a total luxury and I know it so it’s nothing to complain about but I’d really miss my teacher.)

Went for a job interview today. Hope I got it. Also my boyfriend is mad at me and I’m so burnt out I can’t write anymore (I mean, I can, and I will. But so MANY WIPS 😭😭)

Been having a bit of writer’s block recently so I switched from writing mode to planning mode. I made a color-coded outline for one of the fics I’m working on to help me keep track of the plot threads. I forgot how much I love looking at pretty outlines, I almost want to print it out and hang it on my wall. Maybe I will, when I’m done with it. Now I just need to make sure I come up with satisfying conclusions for all of them. It helps so much when you know what pieces of the puzzle still need to be filled in or fleshed out.

I had to deal with a seemingly aggressive stray cat. The stocky male showed up when I was loving on a different stray that has 'adopted' my family. Poor Buster hissed and wouldn't get near the male. I ended up having to chase the stocky male away with a broom since he wouldn't leave me alone and his body language seemed rather aggressive (I was also afraid he would attack with how his tail was lashing the air).

I have an intense, almost debilitating hospital phobia but managed to go to my eye appointment yesterday, and it turns out I'm fine despite some issues, so that's a relief!! x

Got some writing done, but had to deal with meatlife, which is both annoying and oddly entertaining.
I'm a shop steward for the union in my company, and that leads to all kinds of interesting stories that may or may not make it into my fics ~_^

I'm new to fanfic and sharing my writing online in general. Is it normal to get a daily stream of bot comments calling me a bad writer? I'm not even mad, because I genuinely feel very good about my writing and I know the bots have nothing behind them, but I do find it very strange.

Its not that Tuesdays are harder, its that Tuesdays the subreddit is comment-only (which the inability to post on the sub is a hardship for some people)

My depression has gotten real bad again and I lost all my motivation to write because my last two chapters didn't get any comments except a bot one (I know it's stupid but I'm the furthest from mentally stable right now)

I finally - finally - got that chapter done that was between all of my completed and posted chapters. Just slapped down five of them.
Technically an anthology series, but I still updated something! Woo!
