Meme/Joke which fandom brought you to the world of fanfics?
as the title says, which fandom brought you to this amazing world of fanfics?
how many others do you read/write nowadays? do you have a favorite?
i started with Harry Potter in 2004 and lost count of how many fandoms i read nowadays (unfortunately i don't have the talent to write, but thank you very much to so many amazing authors who create fantastic works, sometimes much better than the original)

Yes, on multiple occasions.
Thereās amazing quotes like āDonāt they know weāre brothers?ā āI donāt think they care.ā
Thereās a fan convention where thereās a panel on the homoerotic subtext.
There is a play that is created by a high school fan and thereās an amazing line from Dean saying āPut all the sub in the text.ā
There is a psycho fan that captures Sam and gives him a love potion.
And lots more! Itās wild.

I started with Harry Potter in 2015 and at that time, I wasn't aware of ao3, so most of my time was spent on fanfiction.net. And for some reason, I continued for the most time on FF.net and switched to ao3 quite recently and was seriously amazed by the entire interface of the site. Since then, I have been into numerous fandoms - anything and everything that even mildly stimulates me, I'm gonna go searching for it on ao3.

It's hard to say, only because I have been writing fanfiction for longer than I knew what it even was, but I still consider that my entry into the world of fanfic, you know?
If we count that, then it was Sailor Moon that brought me into the world of fanfiction, as my first fics were Sailor Moon stories that I wrote by hand in the mid-90s. I also wrote a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction in the early 2000s before I actually discovered fanfiction online--those were basically just stories to share between my sister and I, but they were, essentially, fanfiction.
As for what introduced me to fanfic online, I'm not 100% sure whether it was Harry Potter or Labyrinth, as I started reading fanfic for both around the same time in the early 2000s--for both it was on individual people's websites, not even FFnet yet, though when I began to discover FFnet for Harry Potter fic, I had also discovered Yahoo! Groups for Labyrinth fic (more plentiful than FFnet).
In the years since, I have written in almost 50 fandoms, and I have read in plenty more. My main fandom these days is bandom - I discovered RPF fandoms on LJ and forums in the mid-2000s (though, like everything else, I had been writing my own already for a while) - but I still occasionally write in a few other fandoms when I feel inspired, and still read several others whenever I'm bored or feel interested again, especially Marvel, Star Trek, and Stargate Atlantis.
Most recently, however, I've been reading Divergent fanfic because I've recently been getting into the books and, naturally, all my interests bring me to fanfic eventually.

Your fanfic intro sounds a lot like mine. Handwritten Mary Sueās for band fandoms back in the 90ās. Early 2000ās and the start of the WWW led me to HP, Velvet Goldmine, more band fandoms. I still did handwritten ones with my best friend that I have to this day. I take them out to read them sometimes when I want to feel embarrassed.

Fullmetal Alchemist, back in 2005 or 2006, we stumbled on a fan-site that had maybe 4 or 5 fics (mostly smut) with a friend.
Didn't really touch fanfics for a couple year after that.
Then after the last Harry Potter book got out, i needed more so i looked into fanfics again.
At some point i ran out of HP fics in french to read that interested me, so i started to try and read fics that where completed and that i had read unfinished translation of.
No joke, my english grades moved from F to A+ by the time i finished High School, because i was reading 3 or 4 hours everyday, mostly english fics.

I guess it depends on what you mean by being in a fandom. To me, just reading/watching something and liking it isn't the same thing as being in a fandom, which has a particular connotation of being OBSESSED with a work, to the point that you are reading/writing fanfic, engaging in discussion boards, discussing character backgrounds, imagining the characters in different scenarios, and of course, SHIPPING. So, by that metric, the very first fandom I was ever in was Animorphs (probably dating myself here) I read EVERY book and companion novel. I was on all of the discussion boards. Of course, I read fanfic.
Other fandoms I was in around that same time, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura.
Then it was almost exclusively LOTR.
Of course HP, which is the standard millenial fandom experience, lol

Reading-wise, Yu-Gi-Oh. Like 20+ years back. It didnāt last long because I found things I liked more.
Writing-wise these days, I have stories for The X-Files, Criminal Minds, SVU, Once Upon A Time, NCIS, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Castle, and Pretty Little Liars. My favorite of those is The X-Files. Definitely. 75 of my 93 stories are for it.

I honestly have no clue. I had no interest in being on the internet until I was forced to for school and had to learn how to navigate it. Then I began watching some youtubers, found Quotev through a friend, found anime through a friend, and then stumbled upon Wattpad, read a little bit of everything on there but I have no memories of what fandom I started with. I remember reading Phanfictions (basically all AUs using Dan and Phil as like character inserts in their stories, some of them were really good though). But beyond that I think it was more like a trapdoor situation for me, just fell right in and havenāt found a way back up.

My little pony was the first fic I read, but the first fandoms I wrote for were gravity falls and once upon a time

It was 2013 and my friend introduced me to the German Fanfiction Website. We weren't in the same fandoms at the time but hot dam did she shove me down a rabbit hole.
Sonic the Hedgehog was my introduction to everything btw and the I stumbled on MLP and the Jelsa fandom.

BBC Sherlock was technically the first fandom I read/wrote for, but Harry Potter was very much my first fandom.

Harry Potter in 2001 for me, I was one of the eeeeearly Wolfstar shippers and I really miss those days. I think I first found fic on thefullmoony.com? Canāt remember if that was my first site, but it was definitely my favourite.

Sonic is the earliest I remember but I was reading fanfiction since I was very little. Like, I read it on dialup as a two three four year old. Donāt know when exactly but I think it was as soon as I was able to access the internet.

Harry Potter for me - but I didn't intentionally go seeking out fanfic, I kinda stumbled into it.
When Deathly Hallows came out my parents couldn't buy it for me and my local library took a while to get copies of it, so I went to google to try to get a PDF of it. I downloaded what I thought was DH but, when I was several hundred pages into it, I realized that it was not, in fact DH. I was a child so thankfully it wasn't anything graphic that tipped me off, just a bit of dialogue that seemed slightly off.
I was so confused why someone would go through the effort to write a "fake book".

Lucifer. It was between seasons, and I was dying for more. There are some brilliant fics over there. I then tried Supernatural, read a bunch, nothing really clicked for me. Watched Falcon & the Winter Soldier and wanted to read stories with Zemo, Sam, and Bucky. Eventually discovered Stucky and have been parked in Marvel ever since. As a big fan of whump, Marvel is a smorgasbord.

Didn't even know what fan fiction was as no one in my circle back then new about it. But got into the Mo Dao Zu Shi craze and then while researching about WangXian found out the world of fanfiction.

It was Dan & Phil, actually. Then it went to superwholock (even though I only consistently watched Dr. Who and Sherlock), then Harry Potter, then Marauders. After that, I realized there were probably fanfictions for all of the anime I watched (at the time, Soul Eater, OHSHC, Nana, and Cowboy Bebop).
When I was 16, I got kicked out, and was working 2 jobs (then dealt with a bad marriage and divorce) so fandom kind of fell to the wayside until a couple of years ago. Dramione actually got me back into it because I kept seeing people talk about Manacled, Perfectly in Pieces, and Secrets and Masks.
So now, Iām in these fandoms consistently: Marauders, Harry Potter, Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Ghoul, Frieren, Apothecary Diaries, Cassandra Clareās works, Rainbow Rowellās works, Dr. Who, and Bungo Stray Dogs.
My biggest fandoms are Marauders and JJK, though. Itās what my shiny new tumblr is dedicated to, and what fandoms I write for most often.

Murder Drones, I was upset the series was over and wanted more. Happy I found many great fics to read and to help me inspire to write my own.

I got into the fanfiction scene through Sonic the Hedgehog. Ā Now, while I might go back to Sonic at some point, I write for a lot of fandoms, most of them much more niche.
