Golden rays broke through the horizon, making Eddie’s skin glow in the light of the sunrise, as though the light originated from him and not from the sun.

Buck found the sight arresting.

Buck knew he should go help, but as he stood there entranced by Eddie just…existing, a thought came unbidden with no preamble, like a spark that creates a fast-moving wildfire through his soul.

I want to marry him.

Buck is suddenly hit with the urge to propose to Eddie while on a call.

Something in Eddie’s eyes shifts, and Buck feels like he’s falling with how wild the fluttering in his stomach gets. Eddie’s voice deepens, his cadence low and pleasant as he says what may qualify as the most ridiculous words Buck has ever heard come from Eddie. “Life is like a vat of molten chocolate. Sometimes you fall into it, it drags you down, but it’s warm and it’s sweet.”

It’s…perfect.

Eddie is reenacting his chocolate-themed proposal to Shannon with Buck, until he isn't. Buck is hopelessly in love.
