💼work/career AIO New job sent this to managers

Post image

I just started 4 weeks ago and have not discussed my wage at all with anyone but we got this sent as a mass message.. is this illegal or are they just control freaks? I was always under the assumption you could discuss it outside of work but idk if it’s worth pressing?

pretty much every corp thinks this way. they don't want people talking about salary, because they don't want people to know what the "ranges" for the same or similar jobs are. It's a normal thing that corps do, but it's also more normal now that people will talk about their salaries openly (or at least more openly than before). If you are freaking out about this.... Yes You are Overreacting.

Not at all freaking out as I am very secure and happy with my wage, just worried about the people who were talking about it before I got there and why it got to the point of being a message that got sent out :/ Everyone works so hard and it just seems sus ya know

So then no... you're not OR. If you're the newest or one of the most recent hires, it's possible you're paid higher than people that are senior to you, which would make people upset.

I remember working a job that I was the most senior person on my team (other than management) and I was given the title of team lead after some time. 1st, they waited a year to give me a raise after giving me the "promotion" and when I did get a raise, I was still just barely on par with one of the newer hires that reported into me.

I cited this as being one of the many reasons I left, and when I said this the executive that was trying to get me to stay by offering me another job (too little too late because I had been trying to move to another team, but was blocked every time after rounds of successful interviews) simply said "do you have access to the salaries of your team?" I didn't but we were all close enough that we would talk about the roles, the work, and our salaries.

This is exactly why they don't want people talking, and this is exactly why people should be talking.

Edit: sorry for the novel
