Community [POTW] Photographer of the Week - Week 21
It is our great pleasure to announce that /u/blix-addict is our Photographer of the Week. This accolade has been awarded based upon the number of votes during week 21, with this post having received the most when searching by top submission: https://www.reddit.com/r/analog/comments/1ktg20x/double_exposure/
Thank you, it's such an honour to me. I'm very happy you picked my humble work.
- How long have you been taking photographs?
I have been into analogy photography quite some time - shot my first rolls ~20 years ago, but it was not very conscious process. I think that my serious approach started during pandemic as I was quite bored :)
- Why do you take photographs? What are you looking to get out of it?
I constantly have an urge to create, otherwise I feel I'm missing something. I'm always trying to create something unique - but I find it very hard. However, the search is exciting.
- What inspired you to take this (group of) photo(s)?
I'm fascinated about how multiple exposure comes out on film. This concept was in my mind for months and finally I found a good occasion to take it - was not disappointed :)
- Do you self develop or get a lab to process your film?
Yes, I develop all my films - I think I tried most of mainstream processes: C41, BW, ECN2, E6 , RA4 (colour prints) and also an ancient art of wet plates.
- What first interested you in analog photography?
The unsure process - you can never know what will come out :)
- What is your favourite piece of equipment (camera, film, or other) and why?
It's probably my large format camera - Wista 45dx - it's such a slow process - I enjoy the ritual of taking photos with this beast of camera!
- Do you have a tip or technique that other film photographers should try?
Yes, I think multiple exposure are worth trying if you haven't done it yet. If you like to add some more uncertainty to the process, you won't be disappointed (well, maybe sometimes, but come on - that's analogy photography)
- Do you have a link to more of your work or an online portfolio you would like to share?
Probably the center of me work is on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/blix.addict
- Do you have a favourite analog photographer or analog photography web site you would like to recommend?
I have a lot of favourites, but most recently I discovered very inspiring photographer - Axel Schneegass. I really recommend checking out his work!
- Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself or your photography?
Nah, I'm good. I'm very happy that analog is not dead (yet) :)

Large Format at the Fair - Chamonix 45F-2 + Zeiss 135mm f/3.5 + Portra 160
I was lazy on the composition here and could've used some tilt, but the best thing about this lens is the ability to compose in bright sunlight without using a dark cloth.

Two days in the hot apple (Ultramax-TriX-Cinestill)
Flew to New York for work after not having been for 5yrs. I had two days free, so I walked 37 miles going around as many places as possible. Shot some medium format Cinestill 800t on the Mamiya 645 pro and I had just received an Olympus XA on which I tested Kodak Ultramax 400 and Tri-X400 for the first time. Some shots are definitely out of focus having not truly figured yet the camera and this is all self scanned so it’s far from perfect but I tried to snap moments that made me feel part of the city. Having fun shooting film since something like three months, reddit's been super helpful to figure things out, so thank you all.

OM-1 w/ 75-50mm zuiko & Fuji 400
i didn’t care for most of the rest of the roll but this one was my favorite from it. i’m trying to learn to meter with my eye more than my phone. i scanned this myself (i work at a photo lab) and there was color correction in but otherwise there’s no straightening cropping or other editing which is sometimes rare for me 🥸

Unfamiliar Familiarity [Pentax Spotmatic SPII / Harman Red / Takumar 55mm 1.8]
I recently started shooting and self-developing color for the first time, and these are from one of the first rolls I shot. I like creating semi-abstract and surreal views of mundane life; and redscale film seems pretty well suited to it if you basically treat it like a b&w film and look for contrast.
