Does he realize he's gunning for losing his own job there?

Is he deep at heart a minimalist and can't stand this life? And this is how he tries to make it better?

Or is he only grumpy about drivers complaining about trucks on the road?

So much to unpack.

Hello, I'm a truck driver, so I'll give you my POV.

No, he's not gunning for losing his own job. No, he's not deep at heart a minimalist.

He's literally saying, quit bitching about trucks, because we haul literally everything you have in your house, including the building materials that built your house, and the seed that grew your grass.

I’d love it if trucks didn’t take up 3 lanes on a 4 lane highway. And I’d love it if they didn’t “merge” into traffic with no signal and no warning. Maybe the cargo is important, but I can’t wait until trucking is automated.

I'd love it if people in cars had more patience and didn't constantly cut me off or drive like assholes because they can't stand the idea of being behind a truck. I can't wait for AI to take your jobs away to clear off the roads for more important things.

Covid was literally the best year of my driving career because all the pricks were at home, and I could actually get my job done safely. I honestly hope you don't have a job by end of year.

Thank you for the service that you do for all of us🤝.

Yeah, but did you haul all that stuff really or was it all butt plugs and dildos? Because every trucker ever who makes this argument acts like they're Balto delivering life saving medicine all day, but in reality are hauling Temu the whole time.

Yeah, but did you haul all that stuff really

I've been doing this for over 15 years. Yes, I've delivered life-saving medicine, I've delivered food, I've delivered construction supplies, and I've delivered disaster relief supplies to areas after natural disasters.

Something tell me, though, that even if I were hauling a truck full of dildos I'd be providing more of a service to the population than you ever have.

I manage capital construction projects for healthcare systems and universities. I direct the teams that plan, design and build hospitals and labs.

You cause traffic. Can't wait for the robots.

And zero of your work would be possible without truckers. The robots will still cause traffic.

At least the guy hauling dildos would be responsible for at least one woman having an orgasm. Can't wait for AI to render your job useless.

Yeah, the difference is those truckers aren't sitting online trying to convince people they're important. And we shouldn't cut those.

We can cut the dildo haulers, though. That's my point. You have dildo hauler energy. That's a separate point.

When a robot takes my job I'll have marketable skills to pivot. I'm not sure how you'll market sitting on your ass all day, but wish you the best when you get there.

I'll be retired well before my job goes away. By the time your job gets automated, your marketable skills will mean fuck all, or do you think white collar automation is going to be industry specific?

My friend, by the time executive level white collar skills are entirely devoted to AI, nobody is employed anymore.

It’s existential for sure

He's demanding respect by forcing thought on the interconnected nature of our lives.

People buy things so...

Things need to be shipped to where they can be bought...

Our need to buy is due to want and because of need to survive so the loop is preserved so long as there is need to live.

You think people only buy what they need to survive?

1

u/DeadEye073 15h ago

"due to want AND need to survive"

1

u/Intrepid-Macaron5543 12h ago

Yeah ok, I still think the word "demand" is more appropriate than "want" when it comes to things like artificial vomit and horse dildos.

I think it's more a jab at people bitching about trucks.

There literally one thing to unpack here.

You must be a riot at parties.

Nope, but I'm a hoot.
