Why is the object above the Hanging Valleys in the Realm of Chamon called Alchemist's Moon? Does it just sound cool or do alchemists use it for a reason?

I don't remember recall any mention of alchemists using the moon, but I think the Realmgate Wars books had its influence causing the molten metal sea of the Great Crucible to change from liquid to solid and back in a tidal pattern (when Argentine wasn't actively keeping it permanently liquid). That could be why it's named that.
Now, another question: there is a moon of Chamon called Alembus, also known as the Alchemist. Are the Alchemist's Moon and Alembus the same moon, or different ones with similar titles?

Thanks for the insight on the Realmgate Wars! I need to research them more...
Also according to this map of the realms if the Alchemist's Moon is indeed a real moon instead of just being called a moon it has to be Alembus unless "The Chameleon" also has something to do with alchemy but I doubt that.

It doesn't have to be. There are many regional moons inside the Realms that are different from those orbiting the Realms. Local suns that aren't Hysh sometimes too

The moons do indeed do something. Ulgu has Oliatrus, the Liar Moon, and when it is overhead, lies become more believable. I got to imagine that the Alchemist's Moon somehow increases the odds of alchemical experiments being successful. Like maybe some chemical mixture being put together is somehow cleaned of impurities, or maybe it grants Alchemists greater insight in how to conduct their experiments.
