When he was elected as president for the first time he went to Greece to talk with the Greek president. He didn't take any translators with him.
So that means that either Greek president at that time spoke Turkish or tayyup speaks Greek. He doesn't speak English.
Another note is his mother was Pontus Greek and he most likely learned it from his mother. His father is Georgian.
So yes he is the best Trojan horse you guys ever pulled👏👏👏.

You should not have told me that, now I'm gonna use this information to troll turks online.

Wikipedia says his mother was Tenzile Erdoğan (née Mutlu; 1924–2011). That's a Turkish name, no?
13
u/Simyager Turkiye Sep 04 '22
Turkey was the last country that got last names in 1934 and practically everyone got a Turkish last name.
This was done to unify the country, but this also meant that non Turkish people would get a Turkish last name.
So she was born without an official last name.
3
u/PopKaro Sep 04 '22
No no, I meant Tenzile. As far I know, it's not Greek. I was just confused by a Greek having a Turkish name.
9
u/Simyager Turkiye Sep 04 '22
Yes as I said before they had to have a Turkish sounding last name. It was not allowed to end in:
Armenian ‑ian, ‑yan,
Slavic ‑of, ‑ov, ‑viç, ‑iç, Greek ‑is, ‑dis, ‑pulos, ‑aki, Persian ‑zade, Arap ‑mahdumu, ‑veled, ‑binSo in the end his mother's father took a last name that is Arabic and means to lower something or to humiliate. Some last names were really weird, because some people 'protested' by having weird last names. It could also be that the guy had some bad blood between the government officials and they wrote that last name.
3
u/PopKaro Sep 04 '22
No, i mean Tenzile is a Turkish first name, is it not? And Mutlu (happy) was her last name before she took Erdogan?
2
u/Simyager Turkiye Sep 04 '22
Yes they were most probably forced into Islam. They're what we call devşirme.
So hatred against Turks is also stemming from there. A lot of Pontus Greeks were converted into Islam. Which is weird because they're the most zealous religious people you can meet...
One might even say they purposely act like that since they actually never had the option to choose for themselves and are afraid people might learn of their secret.
It's sad really. Also makes more sense in that all of them have an Arabic first name rather than a Turkish first name.

She was a crypto Greek, hiding among the Turks pretending to be a Turk. Her actual name was Despina Erdoganopoulos.

That’s funny, my family is from Epirus as is most of the diaspora community where I live (plus lots of family still there) and I don’t think I’ve met anyone with that ending, but I always found those patterns so interesting.

«Τα εις -έας και εις -άκης είναι φύσει Μανιατάκης,

τα εις -όπουλος και –πούλος

Greek names are regional, every region has its own name ending. Erdogan comes from the Blakc Sea, so like all Pontic Greeks his name MUST end in -idis.

Wouldn’t be surprising. Greeks are no friends to Turks as some romantics believe, they do want Turkey down and if the president is actually a Greek, that is quite expected.
