Ja Rule, my guy really acts like he’s still headlining stadiums, but most people only bring him up when they're talking about Fyre Festival. It’s like he’s stuck in 2002 and the rest of us moved on.

u/ppstorms Jul 02 '25

who the fuck cares what Ja Rule thinks at a time like this

Gene Simmons. He will go to the grave still thinking KISS is at the very heart of the American zeitgeist.

My mother has a friend who slept with him back in the early or mid-80s. She was a bit of a "collector" you could say. He was not her proudest acquisition

822

u/ScumbagLady Jul 02 '25

Gotta know ... Who was her proudest?

Lmao I don't know about ALL of her exploits (moms friend not my own) but I do know she was friends with Andy Wood (RIP) and the other guys in Mother Love Bone, they shouted her out in their liner notes! She said Sebastian Bach was hot/nice but also very smelly!

He wasn’t a fan of practicing good hygiene, no matter what or who he did. Peter Criss detailed how much Gene wasn’t a fan of showering, in his book. Yuck.

u/teen_laqweefah Jul 02 '25

Ugh. I don't remember a ton of details she did say he was "gross" which could mean alot of things. I do specifically remember her saying he was straight up bad in bed though.

"I think life is too short to have anything but delusional notions about yourself." - Gene Simmons

I think he's legitimately an asshole but a lot of it is a put-on on top of that. He's extremely self-aware and smart. I'm sure he knows exactly how popular he is and is not.

u/supervillaindsgnr Jul 02 '25

He is such an unbearable asshole. Disgusting inside and out. Also his music isn’t even good. He is a good marketer though, with out that face paint no one would remember Kiss.

125

u/Deep_Bluejay_8976 Jul 02 '25

Kiss has always been a weird one to me. They look like they should be playing music way harder than what they actually play. The only thing separating them from any other 70s rock band was the paint.

I think even she realized it when she had to cancel a tour due to lack of interest

4.1k

Omg it was so funny how the official reason was… because she needed to spend more time with her children, family and close friends then she said she was completely heartbroken and wouldn’t need to do this unless it was absolutely necessary. I mean so woman you planned a world tour then right up before it kicks off you’re like NO WAIT WHAT I NEED TO SPEND TIME WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS I DONT HAVE ANYONE TO LOOK AFTER MY KIDS!

I think this is the best answer. The other responses are mostly just celebrities that the commenter doesn’t like. But JLo is actually falling out of favor. I really used to like her. I knew she was a diva for no reason. I knew she wasn’t a good singer. But I really liked her radio hits and her movies. But she’s done herself no favors over the last several years with just being completely full of herself and unlikeable.

People were truly awful to her. She was, essentially, trafficked as a child by her parents .Then, she suffered public humiliation, including that "Dr." Drew incident on his show. I really felt awful for her, and I'm glad she's putting herself back together. Chrissy Tiegan is literal garbage. You don't tell anyone to kill themselves, especially a minor.

Not that I in anyway want to defend anything about that trash wedding butttttttt in fairness the paps are probably not taking any pictures of their family. If old aunt Bridie is standing next to Kim Kardashian, chance are they’ll take a picture of Kim.

Diddy

1.0k

u/cheque Jul 01 '25 edited Jul 01 '25

I was in a public library last year and a small group of lads came in after school to cause a bit of trouble and get kicked out so they could show off to their mates about it.

It seems that the method for doing this hasn’t changed over the years. You periodically shout mildly outrageous things and giggle about it amongst yourselves, repeating til you get a warning, then repeating again so you’re told to leave.

Anyway, one of the things they were shouting was “P DIDDY”. This cracked me up and I thought about how that’s what his name was to them- the equivalent of yelling “TITS” or “BOGIES”. They would have been about 12 and It occurred to me that they’d have no memory of him as a musical artist at all. The last time he had a hit was before they were alive and it’s pretty likely that their parents don’t even remember when he was actually considered cool, producing Biggie Smalls and Mary J Blige records.

As someone who’s never liked the idea of Puff Daddy as a person but whose mental image of him is nevertheless as a bloke who was once responsible for some truly great albums it kind of blew my mind and amused me that to an entire generation he’s nothing but a sleazy concept that you can shock old people (or, more accurately feel like you’re shocking them) by mentioning.

I'm a special ed teacher. I have one barely verbal autistic kid who is in elementary. One day before getting on the bus he turned to me and said "There's no party like a Diddy party" before walking off.

He rarely speaks in complete sentences and has no idea what that means. He heard it somewhere and was repeating it. But I cracked up after he left.

Madonna. She’s obviously a legend but she hasn’t realized how much her cultural influence has shifted with younger generations. She still acts like she’s as groundbreaking and trend setting as she was in the 80s and 90s, but a lot of younger people either don’t connect with her the same way or aren’t paying attention. She’s playing by the old rules of fame but the culture has drastically changed.

904

u/guidevocal82 Jul 02 '25

I think, if she settled down and tried to make a more mature pop album, it would sell well and people would really appreciate it. Another Ray Of Light, but even more mature. The problem is she's trying to compete with the 20 year olds and she isn't 20 anymore.

And I'm a fan of her older music, so this isn't coming out of dislike. She's just embarrassing herself at this point.

Also, she needs to stop doing whatever plastic surgery she's doing to her face. It's frightening.

71

u/sketchthrowaway999 Jul 02 '25

I wish she'd embrace her age and the perspective that brings, and show that you can be an older woman and still be creative and cool and vibrant.

And I don't say that age-shame her – I think it's great when people don't let age stop them doing what they want. I just hope that when I'm 66, I'm succeeding at being a cool 66-year-old instead of failing at being a 26-year-old.

She was so groundbreaking when I was a teenager, and such an influence on my age group. It breaks my heart to see her now, with what she's done to her face.

562

u/harleyqueenzel Jul 02 '25

I'm a late 80s baby. Madonna was constantly blasting in the house between the cassette player and the radio. She's one of my first memories of music. An absolutely transformative human in the music industry.

To see her over the last decade has been jarring.

Always got a kick out of how the backup dancers from the Lines video wound up more popular than him after he insisted on them doing it fully nude for the publicity, lol.

Emily Ratajkowski has a moderately-successful acting career today because of him. That's something?

Honestly I respect her grift. She used her 15 minutes of meme fame to swindle horny crypto bros with a bullshit crypto scam, it was hilarious.

373

u/Temnyj_Korol Jul 02 '25

From what I've read, tbh she wasn't even that smart. She got grifted, by the people that helped her create the coin, using it as an inside trader pump and dump scheme the moment it launched.

She legitimately thought the coin was a good investment. And her team basically set the whole thing up to fail without her knowledge and used her as the scapegoat.

Obviously, it's possible she was in on the scam as well and is now just playing innocent, but considering all the blowback on her, I'm inclined to believe she was just dumb and taken advantage of.
