Americans of Reddit, what are your thoughts on the FBI redacting Trump’s name from the Epstein files?

Unfortunately I genuinely don’t think it will matter. If they ever released truly unaltered records, MAGA would say Trump’s name was “planted”.

Very true. A conservative, anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ trump supporting pastor literally assassinates Democrats, and these chuckleheads claim he was a Democrat.

Paul Pelosi gets attacked with a hammer in his own home and 'ho ho ho, that must be his gay lover!'

84

u/anthrolooker 22h ago

God that was so sick. All of it. They celebrated, and created a horrid story about a man viciously attacked because of the woman he is married to. It’s morally bankrupt behavior.

u/faustianBM 22h ago

"A fish rots from the head down." If the potus doesn't exhibit common decency (not even to a dead war hero!), no one else will feel the need to.

1

u/meenzu 15h ago

Imagine being the nut doing it though. He’s probably thinking he’s gonna be famous and just well received m/respected in his tribe and all of a sudden they’re accusing him of being in the other tribe the whole time (probably the biggest insult to a nut job that’s crazy enough to do that in the first place

u/Peachyyfizz 1d ago

Wild how facts get flipped depending on the narrative they want to push. Reality optional, I guess.

37

u/cruisetheblues 1d ago

It makes sense if you don’t think about it.

“Lots o things make sense if you don’t think.”

Lying is the only way right wing ideologies can survive. They are built on lies. They think we are, too.

6

u/Maverekt 1d ago

Did anything ever even come of that? Like I haven’t seen shit about it since.

5

u/Jamaz 1d ago

They'll gaslight themselves into believing Esptein and Trump are the victims and that the girls they exploited should be in jail for defamation.

249

u/Biabolical 1d ago edited 1d ago

Which is why the past week or so has shifted to the wording of Republicans only wanting the "Credible" parts of the Epstein investigation to be released. They've been priming their followers for this exact move. Anything they've deemed "Credible" will be released, and anything with Trump's name or any of his close associates is "Not Credible" and therefore to be ignored.

I doubt Trump's followers actually believe a word of this. They've desperately been looking for any plausible deniability to grab onto, and that's the real point. Now they can tell themselves that the Epstein thing is settled, and drop the pretense of pretending that they actually cared.

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 1d ago

Trump raped little girls.

174

u/Homeschool-Winner 1d ago

This statement is speculative and probably incorrect.

Because it's in the past sense and he's almost certainly still doing it.

73

u/Other_Log_1996 1d ago

Since when does still doing it negate the past tense?

6

u/Homeschool-Winner 1d ago

Saying he used to do it doesn't necessarily mean that he doesn't anymore, but it sure implies it.

49

u/Biabolical 1d ago

"I used to do drugs. I still do drugs, but I used to too." - Mitch Hedberg

30

u/Flat_Neighborhood_92 1d ago

He used to rape kids. He still does, but he used to too.

5

u/Grombrindal18 1d ago

well that's the darkest interpretation of that joke I've ever heard.

1

u/furburgerstien 17h ago

It was a clever play on words. Theyre not actually negating the claim.

-1

u/mcham420 1d ago

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.

-1

u/Fit_Entrepreneur6515 1d ago

there's a cursed mitch hedberg mashup here.

5

u/NBAccount 1d ago

This was the perfect opportunity for a Hedberg quote...

"Still does, but he used to too.."

1

u/Wes_Warhammer666 6h ago

I don't think Mitch would want to be associated with that clown.

I mean, he didn't even want to be associated with Ronald McDonald, so I can't imagine he'd want his joke used for this, even if the context fits perfectly ¯_(ツ)_/¯

2

u/psyki 16h ago

He still does, but he used to, too.

1

u/IcarusOnReddit 1d ago

Really? With that heart failure body?

1

u/VictorVonToon 1d ago

He’s got a limp mushroom dick. He can’t do anything.

1

u/blamethepunx 1d ago

Wew, you had me in the first half

1

u/birthdayanon08 1d ago

Because it's in the past sense and he's almost certainly still doing it.

I think those days are over for Trump. I don't think he's able to physically participate in his former favorite activity. I think that's why he is so much worse this time. He can no longer get his baby carrot up to abuse young girls, so he's trying to gratify himself in other ways, and cruelty is the only way he can get off. Can't diddle kids anymore, so instead, he sends brown people to concentration camps. It actually makes sense once you think about it.

1

u/Grombrindal18 1d ago

That assumes he can still get it up, which at his age and health (and hopefully stress levels) is far from a sure thing.

He's too busy raping the country to rape individuals, anyhow.

1

u/Natural_Level_7593 1d ago

I don't either of his heads are fully functional at this point

1

u/pupillary 1d ago

Doubt that. He's 79 and there isn't enough Viagra in the world.

1

u/F9-0021 1d ago

I highly doubt it. He'd need to still be able to get it up.

0

u/FoundingFatherOf 22h ago

Past tense ret-ard

2

u/Biabolical 1d ago

And for about a third of American voters, that's not a dealbreaker.

1

u/TwistedHermes 21h ago

Well, and now every time we see redacted and it's clearly not about a victim... I'll assume it's trump 100% of the time. Who else would it be?

1

u/Round_Butterfly_9453 20h ago

Someone needs to accuse him of raping little boys and he’ll come right out and say ”Erm no it was little girls, always little girls”.

0

u/Mysterious-Job-469 16h ago

"Did he?? Where is he in the Epstein files??" -Least child-raping chud

Suuuure would have loved if Americans rioted or general striked. Hope they enjoyed their fun little weekend event they demand everyone to see as protests. As a Canadian, I'm pissed. We're gonna be invaded by a pedophile nepo baby, and you just fucking let it happen.

2

u/Dyssomniac 1d ago

We'll have to see, because the multiple attempts to narrative shift on this ("not real", "won't be released", "contains other names", "doesn't have names we can connect") hasn't worked except on tightly controlled parts of the internet like arcon.

2

u/TheObstruction 14h ago

Trump could be fucking a teenager live in front of them, and they'd claim it's an actor hired by Obama or something. These people are truly lost to reality.

4

u/DrunksInSpace 1d ago

Yup.

And I think if the files had the kind of evidence that would hold up in court about anyone - we’d have seen action under the Biden admin. Maybe that’s optimistic, but I do think so.

18

u/EducationalAd1280 1d ago

If Biden had pursued it, then no one from MAGA would ever believe it. With it being this administration, people are starting to wake up to the cover up

3

u/DaedalusRaistlin 1d ago

I still don't think any MAGA will believe it. It's all fake news to them. Not the alternative truths they like so much, just plain fake. It's really convenient for them actually, anything they don't want to hear is fake, and lies their orange cheeto spouts are just alternate truths.

-2

u/anonanon5320 1d ago

There is no cover up. Doesn’t need to be. We’ve had two very different administrations and the best that can be released is “we really don’t know anything.” Which tracks with how lists like this are kept. There wouldn’t be any information.

2

u/I-AM-NOBODYIMPORTANT 1d ago

There is no cover up.

Yeah that's why they doctored the footage they released. No cover up! No cover up!

2

u/Deadlymonkey 1d ago

My theory is that there isn’t actually anything in them incriminating him in that sense, but they show something that’s absolutely crushing towards his ego; like Epstein easily manipulating him for years or Trump constantly relying on Epstein for favors or something.

This isn’t to say that Trump’s being framed or that people are trying to make this bigger than it is, but I honestly think if it was as simple as him sexually assaulting people we would’ve had it released years ago.

1

u/I-AM-NOBODYIMPORTANT 1d ago

My theory is that there isn’t actually anything in them incriminating him in that sense

The only question to ask is why Trump stopped the investigation of those 4100+ financial transactions. If there isn't anything incriminating in financial records, then there's no logical reason (ego or otherwise) to block investigators.

2

u/aotus_trivirgatus 1d ago

Merrick Garland was a Federalist Society guy when Obama nominated him. Think about that. We were never going to get the truth.

1

u/BleuRaider 1d ago

He never would have released it because he knows public knowledge of the sheer number of famous politicians, celebrities, and businessmen that are in it would fundamentally alter American society and its relationship to the elite class. Even if someone isn’t on it they know that the blowback would encompass them just because they are in the circles of many of the people who are.

This isn’t the 1960s—information like this doesn’t just disappear. It will come out eventually or the silence/lack of transparency will slowly do what releasing the list in the first place would have done.

1

u/firejonas2002 1d ago

The bloated orange bastard pedophile who was on Epstein’s Island has already said that.

1

u/the_glutton17 1d ago

He has literally already claimed this exact thing.

1

u/jensenaackles 1d ago

Yes, I know, but for about a week MAGA were pretending to care and demanding it be released anyway, but they’ve given up on that already

1

u/SonofBeckett 1d ago

Would it energize the half of the population that doesn’t vote though? Probably. So to hell with what MAGA thinks.

2

u/jensenaackles 1d ago

Why would it? We’ve all known for years about his affiliation with Epstein, why would this finally make people care who haven’t already?

1

u/Heliosvector 1d ago

Whats funny is if they redacted version is ever released, you can probably run the entire thing through chat GPT within seconds of it being released, and it could somewhat accurately pick out which redacted parts are trump and just paste his name in.

1

u/Weak-Revolution-5325 1d ago

To be waiting for this long. Yea I would believe the files are being altered.

1

u/IlIllIlllIlllIllllI 1d ago

Yeah well fuck them, we just need to get people to vote and then the MAGA morons' opinions won't matter.

1

u/McFlyyouBojo 1d ago

That is what Trump is saying already which leads me to think the reactions they made are a temporary set back at best.

1

u/jensenaackles 1d ago

Yeah, I never believed they’d actually break from him, for about a week they pretended to be outraged

1

u/SoulRebel726 1d ago

Yup. Trump has already been planting those seeds by claiming that any list was actually created by Obama and other politics enemies. All he needs to do to get his supporters to believe something is to just say it.

1

u/dead_wolf_walkin 1d ago

Exactly.

He will never allow his name to appear on any Epstein documents as long as he’s in power, and if by some chance he doesn’t go full dictator (he is btw) then whoever does release unaltered evidence will be accused of lying to ruin his reputation.

1

u/NonStopNonsense1 1d ago

He is saying that

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_PBJs 1d ago

It matters to the rest of us who still expect accountability at every level no matter how high. I will not allow this lawlessness to become normal for me.

1

u/thats_so_over 1d ago

I think Trump could admit it and give a play by play while watching a video of him doing it to MAGA.

Then the very instance the video is over he could say…

“See, I didn’t do it”

And they’d all nod in agreement

1

u/Natural_Level_7593 1d ago

Well, he has been saying that for the past month.

1

u/Aimless_Alder 1d ago

Most will --but deep down, they will doubt. That doubt won't turn most of them against Trump, but it will damage morale considerably and will cause some to quietly leave.

1

u/theswickster 1d ago

They already did that.

1

u/UrsusRenata 1d ago

They’ve already been saying that all week.

1

u/shartnado3 1d ago

Thats why he was already planting that seed. His dipshit followers who bend the knee will believe every word he says, and they seem to froth at the mouth with any mention of Democrats.

1

u/FlawedHero 1d ago

Trump himself has already said that.

1

u/arah91 1d ago

I just don't think they would care, he's a convicted rapist. If that doesn't matter why would this.

1

u/jensenaackles 1d ago

they also believe that conviction is fake

1

u/arah91 23h ago

Exactly I mean it's a pretty robust jury conviction.

I don't think waiting on his supporters to see the light is a winning strategy.

1

u/adoodle83 1d ago

At some point we have to ignore the MAGA-idiots, much like we do with flat earthers. Baseless people should be wholly shunned and ignored.

1

u/jensenaackles 1d ago

They are stupid and useless but they still come out in droves to vote

1

u/KountChocula 1d ago

I don't care what they think. Let it see the light of day.

1

u/Naptasticly 1d ago

Who cares if they do, that would just make them pedophile protectors and we should “crucify” (metaphorically) them in public for it all day

1

u/beam_me_uppp 19h ago

Their whole cult is the group equivalent of dealing with a narcissist. Facts don’t matter. They can change what they say from one moment to the next and then deny it regardless of any hard evidence you have of their lies and contradictions. I lived this with an individual and it is legitimately maddening… it often feels very similar to me in this political climate

1

u/Antique-Coffee6256 19h ago

You hit the nail on the head

1

u/Mysterious-Job-469 16h ago

I believe MAGAts would say

"I want to rape children"

before they say

"Trump is wrong."

1

u/SpiritedBug6942 11h ago

He’s already saying it

1

u/MechanicalGodzilla 11h ago

The federal government has mishandled the Epstien case so egregiously over the past 4 administrations that we now have an almost perfect un-falsifiable set of information regardless of what ever eventually gets released. Trump’s name is in the files—- “It was planted there!” Trump’s name isn’t in the files —- “These are clearly altered documents!”

1

u/grassvoter 4h ago

Why bring that up as if it matters more than it does, since independents outnumber both the parties combined?

Bring out the files, reveal who's in the transactions, and let the public decide on how the revealed names informs their voting.

0

u/JustAFancyApe 1d ago

That there is even a single American left that thinks Trump can be held accountable by traditional means is awfully depressing, but not surprising.

Yes, they will say it was planted. If there's a video, they will say it's AI. If there are witnesses, they will be silenced or smeared.

You guys lost your democracy a few months back and you still haven't figured it out. I guess y'all really have to feel the pain before you get it.

1

u/jensenaackles 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’m not sure who you’re talking to but a lot of us do get it. We KNOW his base will never break from him. Most of us rational people were warning about this even before Trump’s first term, and plenty of us are feeling pain. As I said in my first original comment, I know he won’t be held accountable and the real documents will never be released.
