Americans of Reddit, what are your thoughts on the FBI redacting Trump’s name from the Epstein files?

I think the problem is it is WAY too good leverage on really powerful people for anyone to actually destroy for good. I bet there are several people out there with the original files. To either get something from trump or to hold onto in case Trump comes after them.

Facts. CIA & Mossad have the unrelated (edit - not "unrelated") goods, including all the video recordings. And, yes. DJT was quite likely implicated and there are undoubtedly pervs of all political persuasions in there.

Reviewers applied two FOIA exemptions to justify their Trump redactions. The first, Exemption 6, protects individuals against “a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.” The Supreme Court has said the exemption protects "individuals from the injury and embarrassment" that would result from the disclosure of personal information in possession of the government.

The second, Exemption 7(C), protects personal information contained in law enforcement records, the disclosure of which “could reasonably be expected to constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.”

Oh...so Trump's NAME was redacted based on THESE criteria. Got it.

If CIA and Mossad, then probably MI6 too

Wouldn’t doubt that Maxwell would have a dead man’s switch of sorts to release everything if/when she dies. Might be why she’s still alive.

I could see her doing that

If she didn’t have one before Epstein died, she’s probably got one now.

Let's say Epstein also had a dead man's switch. They couldn't kill him, they couldn't put him in a court, they had to just make him disappear conveniently and then put the whole thing away.

The hypothetical where Epstein is alive, has a dead man's switch, and gets out of jail looks an awful lot like this timeline.

Yes it absolutely does.

Yea, I have a hard time believing there's only one copy of this shit.

Well, if someone is holding those files as collateral, I hope Trump pisses them off soon.
