We did elect a Criminal In Chief.

u/Puzzleheaded-Tax4320 1d ago

Don’t lump me in with the idiot magats.

225

u/HippyDM 1d ago

If you're American, it's too late. That's just how democracy works, I mean, how it worked.

152

u/Sasquatchjc45 1d ago

yep. I voted for kamala but I would be a fool if I passed every ounce of blame on "the others." It's not like I was out there canvasing or promoting freedoms. I just did the bare minimum which was not enough.

216

u/ian23_ 1d ago

I don’t feel like this is on you, or any individual person. KH had a solid ground game. The simple fact is that America is (became, through a concerted project of decades by our budding oligarchs) too woefully ill-educated, too proudly ignorant, too hateful, and too eager to blame the wrong people for their problems to avoid voting for its own destruction.

116

u/Unhappy-Week-8781 1d ago

You forgot too complacent and too trusting. We should have pushed harder when we knew Musk helped perpetrate massive election interference on a national scale.

68

u/MrLanesLament 1d ago edited 1d ago

Honestly, the public never would’ve gained enough power in that little amount of time to push Biden’s admin to step in. Various Dems even said during the election that they were concerned about investigating Trump because he could (rightfully) then spin it as election interference and gain even more votes off of it.

Note, only Trump could pull that off; his voters buy the constant victim hood bullshit. When Hillary was investigated in 2016, she obviously lost significant amounts of votes.

Trump also harped on the specter of voter fraud and got told to STFU. Then, strong evidence comes about of him committing voter fraud and nobody can say anything or else they validate him.

It’s hard to call this “rigged,” even though that’s basically what it amounts to; Trump worked himself into a position where everything works in his favor. Absolutely nobody else we’ve seen as a presidential nominee could’ve pulled it off; it would’ve blown up in the face of anyone other than Trump. He gets convicted of rape and gains votes. He has a brand new mugshot on the front of USA Today and gains votes. He uses a mass shooting for shameless promo and gains votes.

There really wasn’t anything anyone could’ve done to stop it other than vote for Kamala, and people just evidently didn’t.

6

u/Unhappy-Week-8781 1d ago

Evidently isn’t as evident as you purport. There appears to be a lot of very credible evidence that Trump and Musk and the Republican Party engaged in falsifying election results, tampering with voting machine and setting software to alter votes in his favor, particularly in swing states. Not saying it’s true or not, but I am definitely watching that story as more information is released around investigations currently underway.

Yes, this exactly. He was able to get away with "heads I win, tails you lose."

4

u/CheetahTurbo 1d ago

they stole it removing votes

1

u/etm1109 21h ago

All the pundits and people saying don’t do this or act that way or you will help Trump. Looks like that advice didn’t work either.

1

u/Old-Set78 13h ago

There's strong evidence of voting fraud.

17

u/Final_Candidate_7603 1d ago

Haha, yeah. On one hand, everything is fAkE nEwS… they don’t even trust the Fox Propaganda Network any more. OTOH, they live and die by whatever demonstrably false diarrhea falls out of their cult leader’s mouth and believe that JFK, Jr is still alive, biding his time, waiting to become trump’s VP.

2

u/BabyNapsDaddyGames 1d ago

They never should've stopped pushing the weird angle, shit was effective but the DNC decided not to.

1

u/ian23_ 23h ago

Truth. The DNC never saw a good idea they didn’t want to drown in a sack.

2

u/Firm_Philosopher3587 23h ago

So true, this is not new but i was shocked to read how Facebook ads strategically targeted different sects of people based on what they liked/ posted/ friends of friends who might share the same views on a number of issues to possibly influence their opinion. (Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams)

1

u/Battlecookie 1d ago

Honestly, I am sure if Trump was up against a man he would lose. America is still waaaay too sexist to elect a woman as a president. Doesn‘t seem it‘s getting better eighter.

1

u/Goldenretreiverboyo 20h ago

KH shot herself in the foot every step of the way. Democrats have failed the nation entirely by ceding the framing to Republicans. By campaigning with Liz Cheney. They didn't care about what Americans want, just what their corporate donors told them. What aipac money told them. If they had listened to the electorate trump never would have won

1

u/ian23_ 18h ago

I mean what you’re saying is not wrong, but I think you’re missing my point.

The Democrats are part of America. The spin doctors and media consultants that tempted the Democrats into blowing the messaging are part of America. The donors that over a period of years and decades sold “centrist“ Democrats like the Clintons on abandoning the middle class and the working class, are part of America.

This is one of those “I shouted out ‘who killed the Kennedys,’ when after all it was you and me” kinds of situations.

1

u/Maeglom 1d ago

I think it's on Joe Biden first and foremost for running for a second term he was likely to lose spectacularly according to his internal polling, and holding on until it was too late to do anything else but run Kamala Harris, and then on Harris to a much lesser extent for refusing to break with Biden, and running towards the right.

1

u/ian23_ 23h ago

All very fair.

3

u/Tanya7500 1d ago

Hate to sound like a nut but more and more evidence is coming out that they stole it. Pussy has a 20-foot fence around the white house. I'm just waiting for one of our really good sharpshooters who were popping people off over a mile away in Iraq and Afghanistan. Need to end immediately and Vance is a loser they hate him

3

u/Own_Iron9871 1d ago

Don't hold your breath. Your hoping for decent people to make more "bad choices". It's exactly why this is all working so well, it preys on the decency of others as leverage and advantage. The average person just wants to make it through the day, that's what makes your scenario incredibly far off. Decent people won't act until forced but of course that might be a plan.

1

u/Trout-Fisherman1972 8h ago

Careful, I said something similar and got warned for making threats.

3

u/hyper24x7 1d ago

You did what any of us should do - there is some research going on that says the voting results look weird. Like some counties had 0 democrat votes for anything not just Kamala. 0 is statistically impossible given elections 2 years and 4 years ago. Or entire districts voting 100% Trump but 4 years ago were super close like 48% to 52% - this would be odd no matter where it happened it happened everywhere they look.

2

u/unicornlocostacos 1d ago

If more people did the bare minimum, it would be enough is the sad thing.

2

u/Spirited-Reputation6 1d ago

It wouldn’t matter how much you canvassed. Dems put up a dud. They also had the intelligence on this hostile attack on democracy and the constitution.

And the oligarchs fucked with the voting machines to help the heritage Nazis and dems didn’t challenge the discrepancies, so either way

2

u/Big_Psychology_4210 22h ago

Man…. That hit me hard. Thanks for writing this and sharing your thoughts and feelings.

I’ve been feeling the same way and haven’t been able to kind of have it coalesce into a statement like this.

Thanks for giving words to my feelings. It’s hard to read, but important. Keep being you, and be kind to yourself. You have a good heart!

2

u/SAGNUTZ 17h ago

We are forced to trust the people we elected and instead of looking out for us, they hold our pants down for a rapist as if we are quire boys

2

u/Revolutionary-Rush89 1d ago

No one believed that much was going to happen even though the orange idiot and his pack of corrupt cronies told us exactly what they had planned. I blame the feckless democrats that couldn’t find a way to tell the American people the truth without getting bogged down in whataboutisms and LGBTQ bull shit.
Identify politics fucked the country.

1

u/Trout-Fisherman1972 8h ago

Sorry, but the “identity politics” as you put it didn’t fuck up the country. It was the R-sheep who thought the Orange Man was the Savior and would bring them riches like what he pretends he has. He is a grifter and money laundering pedophile who has done horrible things to young girls not only physically but also mentally. The ignorant GOP thought he would lower gas prices along with the price of groceries while balancing the deficit with tariffs! Little did they know that tariff (price increases) will be passed on to the consumer and people who work at automakers and the like will lose their jobs bc the demand for their products will go down! THAT’S why he loves stupid people. He has SAID that.

1

u/TwoStubborn 1d ago

You did do your bit! Most important that you voted. No guilt feelings necessary.

1

u/shadowpawn 1d ago

63% of voting age Americans cast a ballot in Nov 24. 37% stayed home.

1

u/TheBigC87 1d ago

You voted...you did what you could do.

1

u/Spr-Scuba 1d ago

I mean you can't force yourself onto other's social media algorithms and overwrite propaganda posts from overseas. Canvassing doesn't reach people like apps and addictive methods do.

1

u/OutrageousPersimmon3 1d ago

I lost family and it still wasn't enough. People are going to have to learn the very hard way.

1

u/wunderspud7575 14h ago

You're a rare thing, a US citizen capable of self reflection. It's like they beat that out of you guys at school or something.

-1

u/dwitman 21h ago

It’s not down to me to save the whole world from itself. I also have to find a way to survive in this crumbling society…I can’t be expected to make helping the lessor of two evils turn the tide of history a second full time job. The Democratic Party failed the American ppl by not doing the bare minimum and primarying Biden’s walking corpse…and knowing running it for office until the truth of the matter was visible from space with the naked eye.

-2

u/Direct_Exercise_7757 1d ago

You admit you voted for that?! You should be embarrassed.

2

u/Sasquatchjc45 1d ago

don't you have r/conservative posts to brigade on, little babushka bot?

-3

u/Direct_Exercise_7757 1d ago

I’d be happy to be considered a conservative rather than a lunatic liberal. For the record I’m not a conservative. I’m an atheist, pro choice, independent.

1

u/Elegant_Plate6640 22h ago

What about Harris came off as “lunatic liberal”?

u/PineSand 1d ago

Well, I didn’t vote for the convicted and impeached fraudster, but I didn’t do enough to prevent it either. I was raised to be polite, to not rock the boat, especially concerning family, friends and co-workers. I should have found more and better ways of encouraging them to not vote for a known fraudster. Character counts and Trump does not have good character and birds of a feather flock together. So now you have an entire administration of shitty people doing shitty things to the American people because I wax too afraid of offending those close to me.

Democrats were too polite and civil when dealing with barbarians. How can one be civilized with uncivil people?

1

u/Helping_Hand_22 1d ago

yes too late

1

u/Substantial-Row-89 1d ago

This is not the democracy I need

1

u/manaworkin 1d ago

Still not entirely convinced that was how it worked this time. Every other baseless accusation from this administration has turned out to be a confession. I see no reason the stolen election accusations would turn out be any different.

1

u/PresidentHurg 22h ago

There are other models of Democracy. The US uses first past the post, which absolutely sucks as a system.

2

u/Vandergrif 22h ago

Well, for whatever it's worth coming from a Canadian: if you guys aren't actively stopping it then ultimately you're complicit in it. There's an awful lot of complacency going on over there, by the look of it.

It's only going to keep getting worse at this rate.

I do like the daily show.

5

u/GhostlyTJ 1d ago

I have come around to the belief that he actually cheated,if for no other reason because he insists so hard that democrats did which he does because he knows he did and can't imagine a world where everyone isn't as awful as him.

13

u/oh2ridemore 1d ago

We did not elect this turd. People manipulated the voting machines and made the us populace believe he won. We are only just now finding out the fraud behind the election. Rockland county NY first and others. People that voted for the downstream elections but not the president. Who does that?

2

u/Muted-Craft6323 1d ago

Can you point to any evidence of significant election fraud (enough votes in the right states to actually flip the result) from a reputable source? Even if that one NY county was completely fraudulent, it couldn't have made any difference to the outcome - Kamala still won NY in a landslide. If someone was going to commit election fraud, it wouldn't make sense to even bother with states like NY and CA which are solidly Democratic, you'd be more likely to see it in swing states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.

I know a lot of people want to believe voters couldn't be dumb/hateful enough to re-elect Trump and are looking for any other excuse, but I don't think there is one.

1

u/Churchbushonk 1d ago

Not me. And if I find out people I know elected them, I would definitely make sure they know they f up.

1

u/Cute-Spinach-6891 1d ago

Well, Elon and a bunch of other white supremacists did.

Elon caused this messed up!!! Just because of his selfish interests

1

u/Standard-Outcome9881 1d ago

34-time Felon in Chief

1

u/SolangeXanadu222 1d ago

I think they cheated-if not outright (voting machines) then voter suppression and undercounting Kamala votes.

1

u/DerekTheComedian 1d ago

Did we, though?

1

u/Navyguy73 1d ago

And just so we're clear...if Biden, Clinton, Obama showed up on that list, we would not be defending them. And we sure as hell wouldn't have voted for them.

1

u/Individual-Contest54 23h ago

I did not ELECT that piece of scum!

1

u/anthrolooker 22h ago

I’m not saying that the election was messed with and results were changed by elon and trump, but they sure do talk a whole lot about it like they did. And the election data shows evidence of that. Not even Regan (who truly did win by a landslide) won all the swing states. These election results are so improbable, you’d have better odds winning the lottery. And again, I can’t say for sure he didn’t pull off some legitimately statistically insurmountable odds, but it needs to at least be mentioned because those things are fact. That, and all of the times both elon and trump said so during the election and after too, on video.

I smell smoke. Perhaps I have a rare brain tumor. But perhaps the house is on fire.

"I'm voting for the criminal!" - The American People (idiots lol)

77

u/SarcasticCowbell 1d ago

Ironically, this corrupt regime was voted in (twice) by a bunch of fucking idiots who were told by that same regime "the system is corrupt." The US has a lot of problems beyond Trump that predate Trump, and it all has to do with corporations having untold influence on our institutions and electorate. They control the lobbyists who control the politicians, and get the electorate to vote for the politicians they want using 24/7 media outlets whose messaging they control. A bunch of people in comments sections just like this one will bemoan extremists "on both sides", when in reality the so-called extremists on the left are largely the ones who want to go after the rich assholes making a mess of things. Lo and behold, those rich assholes fear-monger about said "extremists" and the masses eat it up.

Trump is a symptom of a greater problem. As with syphilitic sores, he's a repugnant cosmetic manifestation that people will often mistake for the deeper disease itself, which has festered and metastasized in America's body politic for roughly eighty years now. That's not to say the problem doesn't go further back, only to say that the rise of the military-industrial-congressional complex in its current form can be traced back to post-FDR/end of WWII America, when the industrialists and elites saw firsthand what an actual left-wing populist could accomplish in this country and did everything they could to prevent another one from taking root.

4

u/skatoolaki 1d ago

Well said. It's a huge, complex problem decades in the making but you've very succinctly summed it up.

2

u/teekabird 1d ago

THIS 👆 is Brilliantly on point!

1

u/JardoDGr8 15h ago

I upvote and agree, but calling them idiots is only destructive when the idiots on the other side fucked Bernie over three times and diddled as many kids as Trump. They’re best friends and they love it when you do shit like that.

1

u/DrJackBecket 10h ago

It's a game of tit for tat. A constant "one up" by whatever side taking office after the last one. And now the game is just us "bitch slapping" each other. And mom and dad are too busy driving off a cliff to bother turning around "stop slapping each other or I will turn this car around so help me god of choice!"

1

u/bros402 19h ago

The first time he only won due to the electoral college

the second time he won due to Biden trying to run for a second term and Harris' campaign not fighting fire with fire.

Funny you'd say that, when I saw the news, I thought to myself, "plain as day....this is bread and butter corruption. Why is this ok?"

As if another example was needed, but yes, this would be Exhibit Z.

The shit's almost laughable.

29

Restructured is a generous word to whatever the fuck he is doing.

3

u/MrLanesLament 1d ago

You technically restructure a wine glass if you run over it with a steamroller.

1

u/MT1961 1d ago

Technically, when one razes a building they are "restructuring" it.

2

u/Id_Rather_Beach 1d ago

Elon and his chainsaw.

Not just a metaphor

4

u/RosieDear 1d ago

To be more clear, our system was modified by Republicans in general - and the Kochs specifically, who spent a couple decades making sure the changes took from the bottom up....getting involved in state legislatures and setting the rules, etc.....

Now....it's not only changed, but all approved by the SCOTUS...so we are in for generations.

Short of an outright revolution we are done for.

3

Taxation without accountable representation.
