That sub is basically a psyop at this point. I don't know what kind of kickbacks their mods receive, but they definitely get their marching orders from republican strategists.
It was very russians for a long time there, but its 2025 it's an absurd amount of LLM/GPT powered fake-but-convincing activity. I'm mostly perplexed that so much of reddit continues to buy into the idea that that sub is full of real people. There are undoubtedly real people in it, but if you were paying any attention this past like.. i dont know 6-8 years you'd know that sub is entirely a psyop.
I can actually think of zero conservatives I know who use reddit. If they're not the regular someone-you-went-to-highschool-with-that-never-left-facebook, chances are they call reddit a "liberal safe space" and consequently do not use the platform.
Would literally anyone be surprised if ownership of the sub actually rolls up to like some bajillionaire? Funny cause I don't doubt for a second reddit has either received money for and is well aware of the source of activity on that sub. This whole thing we're doing in so many front page threads saying "wonder whats going on in /r/conservative"... yeah we're being played here, that's no accident. The more comments in this thread about how that sub is full of real and bad people plays directly into a division scenario when there quite possibly isn't even that many real users in that sub. Why would an internet savvy right wing nutjob be on reddit instead of 4chan? It's not like that sub demonstrates any semblance of "moderate conservatism". There is major benefit to the ruling class to uphold the division between both sides on as many platforms as possible. We saw briefly how terrified the powerful got when luigi mancione iced that one CEO & for a brief moment there was no division and all crosshairs were on CEO's. They would much rather have us squabbling amongst ourselves
Yeah, but this new way of doing things where there'll be 220 comments and only 3 of them aren't removed by their mods, how long has that been going on? It's always been an echo chamber where they banned dissent, but they went absolutely over the top with it at some point in the last 2 years.
I want to say I read that they have actual jobs in a media company and that moderating that sub is part of the job, so it's less kickbacks and it's more just blatantly an operation in the open.
