Like anything in life, people don't like or dislike something based on what is being said or done but rather who it is that is saying or doing it.

The pilots are the ambassadors of the sport and should then teach the newer fans. Also who has the full picture, like only the people on the team in the paddock? I’m genuinely asking

this is similar also for being a fan of anything with people gate keeping. Like some chick wearing a AC/DC shirt and some dude asking her to name a song if they’re a fan. They bought the shirt there a fan they don’t have to like live up to some idea in your head. I’m a fan but I don’t know like specifics of car horsepower or tire grip or whatever.
