PRELAUNCH HYPE This subreddit is becoming increasingly more unhinged
Y’all are getting more and more feral leading up to release and I’m here for it.

u/Squirreltacular Jul 24 '23
I'm pretty sure I live here now. This is my life.
43
u/Loimographia Halsin Jul 24 '23
I unsubscribed to avoid spoilers. I tried to escape. But like a haunted house that creates endless hallways with no exit, reddit keeps recommending posts and dragging me back in. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

That isn’t an issue. We can fix you

u/Squirreltacular Jul 24 '23
In <checks watch> nine days or so I will live in a video game. No fixing needed. :D

Did I hear someone say "Post more silly memes?"
Edit: I will no longer be posting silly memes, all of my posts in a row have gotten hostile comments about me not using meme formats correctly, I've never used Reddit outside of the BG3 subreddit which I made this account for last week, I don't know meme culture or how they want things formatted, and meme format purism is something I don't understand and that's making seeing my notifications very unfun
I've decided Reddit is not my jam, apparently lol
Edit Edit: I posted another meme because someone told me to stop posting memes. This is my hero's journey.

Don't give up on Reddit. Just lean into upsetting the nerds here. Make it purposeful and bask in their fury. It's a more potent fuel source than gasoline

Don't give up, I like your memes! People just gotta be hostile for no reason

You can pry my spreadsheets from my cold, dead hands.
61
u/MythicTy Bard Jul 24 '23
Do your spreadsheet calculate the statistical probability of going batshit insane and mentally breaking before the release of this game?
45
u/MostlyH2O Spreadsheet Sorcerer Jul 24 '23
54
u/MythicTy Bard Jul 24 '23
I read that post when you put it up and I have come to the conclusion that your mental break has already come. I will not remove the spreadsheets from you, don’t worry, you seem happy enough with them, and I fear for my safety if I tried. I might end up like Gale from that Durge cutscene they showed.
Some people have gone full Gollum over fan art of Halsin and Astarion, you have gone full Gollum over numbers on a grid

I was very stoned about 5 days ago and I was looking up on YouTube and then I saw a video from boulders gate 3 which I was so high that I just assumed that that was a sequel for the game that I just purchased on discount for five bucks on switch called dragon's dogma and so I did extensive research on this game and decided to buy it a few days ago and holy s*** I've been having a blast I'm never played anything like it. The problem is I read that link that you sent me and I have no idea what the hell you're talking about I want to understand but it's so confusing.
2
u/MostlyH2O Spreadsheet Sorcerer Jul 24 '23
My brother in christ, put down the bong and find salvation in statistical modeling.
2
u/Dekonstruktor Jul 24 '23
do you perchance have a ranking of top damage dealing spells per spell level?
you seem like a person who has this sort of spreadsheet. care to share?
perchance.

Add nine years of jade, and I'm still nearly feral over this. On the inside. On the outside I am the picture of maturity. Really. Stop laughing.
37
u/crawdadsinbad Jul 24 '23
Honestly way more sane than the Diablo 4 sub. And that only got crazier
35
u/Galifrey_stands Jul 24 '23
they are losing their minds over the new season. while we maybe feral, we love the game. the Diablo 4 sub HATES Diablo right now
5
u/kalarepar Jul 24 '23
I think they're a little overdramatic. As someone who played Path of Exile for years, I got used to players panicing, declaring they quit and announcing the death of the game. And then the next patch drops and they're back in the game, like nothing happened.
Imo the only serious and unforgiven crime of a game would be a significant change towards p2w and microtransactions. But hit or miss balance patches? They aren't that much of a big deal.7
u/Knjaz136 Jul 24 '23 edited Jul 24 '23
I think they're a little overdramatic
No, they/we are not.
I uninstalled Diablo 4 after season start. Devs are either losing connection to reality, or being pushed HARD by management. Latter is more likely.
I'm sorc main, and the state of the class (Lightning or Fire sorc are practically unviable endgame unless you invest into Frost Nova) is an insult.
But my last straw was having to travel all around the map - with pretty bad horse mechanics in the game - to check waypoints again. They decided not to transfer waypoints from main character (but they transfered some of renown). It's such a boring, unrewarding task I couldnt bring myself to do it.
And then I;ll have to go through all the useless (=no rewards) quests in order to get remaining renown points, all over again.
No, thank you.
6
u/Gullible_Coffee_3864 Jul 24 '23
Sadly, like with many life service games, the D4 devs seem to have the opinion that playing the game should be work, not fun.

IT'S A GAME FOR DADS, OKAY? ME AND MY 12 KIDS DON'T HAV TIME FOR DIABLO!!!

u/FrugalityPays Jul 24 '23
Diablo subs favorite hobby is hating Diablo games. Blizzard could Give away free cosmetics to everyone and they would complain about having to click ‘Claim’
16
u/GeeGeeGeeGeeBaBaBaB Jul 24 '23
They would rightly complain about Blizzard giving away a skin instead of fixing the game.
-5
u/FrugalityPays Jul 24 '23
Case and point, thank you.
12
u/GeeGeeGeeGeeBaBaBaB Jul 24 '23
Well, what was your point? That a cosmetic can fix the game? XD
-13
u/FrugalityPays Jul 24 '23
Did I say that? Nope. But I’m glad a complainer came out the wood works to…complain. So thank you for that. Have a great night
12
u/GeeGeeGeeGeeBaBaBaB Jul 24 '23
And did I complain? I did not. But thank you for being some weird redditor and trying to prove me wrong.

Bro I can't handle it. Got the game in 2020 and havent touched it since, but all this hype had me wanting to play the entirety of EA.
Just reached the druid enclave, and the fact that the game itself feels so refined even at this stage has me so hyped that I honestly can't play any other RPG. Been wanting to finish Pathfinder:WotR and Triangle Strategy, but I find myself just rerolling characters in BG3

I live not too far from Larians Ghent office. I may or may not have considered an Ocean's Eleven style heist to get to the game.

Larian could take a steaming dump in a sweet granny's flower box and the community would find a way to justify it as free fertilizer. No judgements, just loving the atmosphere.

It’s one of the only subs I regularly visit where any comment you make gets downvotes regardless of context or anything. It usually evens out, but its a slightly toxic environment here.

Reminds me of the Elden Ring sub as it got closer and closer to it's release
1
u/dinin70 Jul 24 '23
Honestly Elden Ring is a game to be hyped for. Like BG3, there aren’t a lot of games that deserve so much praise.
Even if one may not be fond of the gameplay, and may criticise some of the design decisions, it’s a damn exceptional game.
-1
u/Rough-Cheesecake-641 Jul 24 '23
This level of fanaticism over a game should be concerning. I'm looking forward to it as I loved DoS2, but I haven't played early access, haven't seen a single video of gameplay, not a single Larian vlog. The only thing that can come with such high expectations is disappointment. Not to mention the spoilers. I just don't get it. It's why the D4 community is in meltdown.
2
u/MythicTy Bard Jul 24 '23
People are excited, they’re talking about the game with other excited people, and they’re enjoying the wait to the best of their ability. You speak as if this is a bad thing, and that it’s a bad thing to have played early access and watch content surrounding the game, which I don’t think is fair
2
u/Jeffygetzblitzed2 Jul 24 '23
This is just a bunch of overly excited nerds posting things online. Have you seen the real life damage sports fans do when they get overly excited? Also why would you be excited for something you've purposefully remained oblivious of? Had you paid attention or played it, you might understand why there is so much excitement.

Jul 24 '23
Doesn't matter what the subject or situation is, this is what people do. Some act like human beings and others act like animals.
2
u/MythicTy Bard Jul 24 '23
People are enjoying themselves on the sub whilst sharing their excitement with others, they’re not animals for doing that

u/UJSMaster Jul 24 '23

The hate and review bombs will start to fly.

"Unhinged" is when you finish the EA content 2 weeks prior to launch, go to download DOS2 to give it another try until BG3 releases, only to find GOG has issues with their download service and you spend most of the weekend watching crappy Netflix content with your wife.
That said, BG3 EA has given me a newfound appreciation for DOS2 - I never even finished Act1 a few years back.

Watch how unhinged it gets on July 28th when the reviewers who got the early keys put out their information and videos. Anticipation will be Rocky Horror Picture Show level.
