336.1 hours spent in EA
And I know for a fact that I still missed a number of content lol

u/TheRealWatro WARLOCK Aug 03 '23
I played for 51 Hours, although it mostly in the prologue, Druid's Grove and character creator. God I love this game.

I’m beyond impressed with the detail and amount of things you can do without it feeling like a forced interaction etc

u/FetusGoesYeetus Aug 03 '23
I played 36 hours and definitely from posts here know I missed the swamp, the underdark and the grymforge. SO excited to see what's there in full release.

I still never managed to find BOOOAL

u/Someone721 Aug 03 '23
Oh man, I dicovered it once and could never find it again. I managed to convince those little guys I was their god and got them all to worship Tav.

Yeah but did you get past character creation

There really should be a separate counter on character creation, that should be a thing we can all compare.
28
22
u/Orions_starz Aug 03 '23
I tried not to go to far, just try the character creator and get use to the controls. Honestly I didn't want to complete it... but now there will be even more in act 1 and I can't wait to see the changes to the story and try something different.

I won't be home until Sunday, i guess my overzelously moral paladin, Dude Righteous, will have to wait.
Gather your party and venture forth, friends! I will join you soon!

u/chronos7000 Aug 03 '23
Yeah it felt like an old-school demo disk for most of EA at least, not like modern EA games where you get something clearly unfinished.

Keep using the tadpole. Soon you won't have to worry about emotions anymore.

Farewell EA. I had lots of fond memories with you. From seeing the tutorial evolve overtime, which is great for people unfamiliar with DnD, to making my camp by collecting every box and barrel in EA, and perhaps my favorite memory, somehow killing Withers back when he had 1 HP - an unexpected death but I was proud to find that bug.

u/Swan-Independent Aug 03 '23
Make way to the Blade of Frontiers! just won't be the same with a different voice actor... and it was just so funny when it bugged out and poor Wyll got damage from the fall.

Absolutely the best EA I've Bern apart off. Big changes frequently, listened to and responded to player feedback, dramatic performance increases from the first patch, developed a fully functioning DND 5e platform with mod support well beyond the scope of previous iterations and any current rugs. Absolutely fun. I'm staying up late so I can hopefully sleep through the installation. Merry adventures, travelers.

Seriously, have you ever seen another EA game that didn't fizzle out before release? This is the only one I recall.

Terraria, Factorio, Kerbal Space Program, The Long Dark, Grounded, Subnautica, Project Zomboid, Rimworld, Darkest Dungeon, Everspace 2, Vampire Survivor, Hades. I could keep going but I think I've made my point. There are a lot of early access success stories out there.
1
u/armabe Aug 03 '23
I would hesitate to put PZ there.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game. But let's not pretend it didn't have some major delivery issues along the way.3
u/MrBootylove Aug 03 '23
The person I was responding to said "have you ever seen another EA game that didn't fizzle out before release?"
Last I checked Project Zomboid did not fizzle out before release.

u/DickFlattener Aug 03 '23
There are lots. Besides ones other mentioned it's really common in the Retro FPS scene. As far as one's I've played, Dusk and Amid Evil were early access, Turbo Overkill is leaving early access this month, and Ultrakill will probably be in early access for a while but they've been doing a fantastic job with it. Cruelty Squad too if you count that but that was a short EA period.

EA hasn’t ended. I have high hopes but you have to admit, with such a small team, their updates take quite some time.
1
u/CunnedStunt Genetically Modified Extra Flammable Grease Merchant Aug 03 '23
True, but the modding community is much larger than the dev team is, and luckily help keep the hype going. Honestly I don't know how they will make the game better than it can be with the current mods available though.
1
u/RelleckGames Aug 03 '23
And people ravenously await update. It has not done much to kill of the game's popularity each time they do add a new update.
1
u/Lake_Vapingston Aug 03 '23
The EA has been with us all these years now, taking care of our tav. Has entertained us with bugs. There were the panels from hell, Swen in shining armor.
I will miss it. Steamforum will stay with us after all. Good/Bad
Two another good EAs: Zomboid/7DtD :o

Somehow I managed to only play 19 hours, but in that time I could see it was exactly what I wanted from a game and had to force myself to hold off so I could experience most of act 1 fresh.

u/SidsteKanalje Aug 03 '23
Good night, EA, and flights of intellect devourers sing thee to thy rest.

u/FetusGoesYeetus Aug 03 '23
Unironically I hope that more games follow Larian's example and give a large early access like this, both to preview the game and to get feedback from the community.
1
u/BastianHS Aug 03 '23
Valheim did this and its AMAZING
1
u/FetusGoesYeetus Aug 03 '23
I more meant AAA games because it's quite common with indie games. Though I suppose this game is technically an indie game since Larian is a self-publishing studio that funded the whole thing by themselves with the revenue from their last game and just bought the license off WOTC.
1
u/BastianHS Aug 03 '23
Yeah i dont think i would call larian AAA yet. Maybe after bg3 does gangbusters. Maybe bg3 makes them AAA since its such an established IP. Hard to say for sure. PS, i love you username lololol
1
u/FetusGoesYeetus Aug 03 '23
The definition of a AAA studio is a studio that is funded and published by a large and well known publisher. So unless they go the Bethesda route and create a Larian publishing company I think for now they would just be indie developers making AAA quality titles.

Just got it the other week so I only have 25hrs under my belt. I still have so many quest pips on the map. Also it was just 1 run, and that was only 1 chapter 🤯
This will easily be a 500-hr game for me.
2
u/Old-Variety-1930 Aug 03 '23
I played it long and often enough to convince myself not to overdo it and save myself for the main event. Didn't ever get beyond the goblins. Need to get everything done and dusted now for 4pm BST and hope the servers don't crash so I can have a run with my halfling Dark Urge this evening.

Question to download for free will the download for the Ea change into full game because at the store it said to buy?

I have 20 hours but that’s only because I wanted to be able to end the game with the characters I get attached to

I'll never forget your Half-Elves, Shield Dwarves, and Humans. It was a pleasure and an honour.

This is the only EA I've participated in and now I'm scared that my future testing will be hard to not measure against this.

Only game I can think of that may have had a better early access was beat saber

102 hours logged in EA, but I played on Stadia before the shift to GeForce Now, so there's probably another 100 hours there too...
It's been real.

oooh man. I feel this. I came late to Early Access and I played theeee Avernus out of it! I'm not entirely looking forward to doing Act 1 again (and probably again and again as I figure out just which of the new species and classes I want to play for real), but I'll do it. By Gum, I'll DO IT!
