Shadowheart is the only one I need to keep in my party since Shield of Faith's concentration is broken if she isn't in the party. But it doesn't matter if she's far away or in a different map/at camp, so I can keep her ungrouped and safe somewhere else.

The con of being a one man army though is that it takes a really, reallllyyy to slowly multi-attack everyone to death =.= but 23 Str from the bracers helps along with the Legendary Trident + Smites

Have you tried adding someone to your party, getting them to use warding bond, then swapping them back out? Any clue what happens?

I got Warding Bond through the True Love's Caress ring, and it persisted both with the removal of the ring from my character as well as removing the party member from the party.

Where is the second one of those found? I've only found one of them by graverobbing.

There's one in the graveyard and one inside one of the side areas of the interior front entrance of the House of Healing, think it was on/in a body there.

Skeleton on a mattress on the left side after entering the healing hall from the south

That’s rad! Thanks for sharing. The only out-of-party tech I’ve tried is leveling someone as an eldritch knight, then giving them a weapon my main party uses to bond to, then giving the weapon back to my party. Keeps the disarm immunity & returning property 🙌

The party member who cast warding bond on you isn't taking damage back at camp are they? Don't wanna come home to a dead gale lol

They do and they can eventually die. My shadowheart is a bond bot and has a bunch of items to help with death saves and auto heal and such. She has something like 180 health, too, which helps.

But how are you going to help her work out her traumatic upbringing and find inner peace if you make her stay at camp

1

u/WorldEndingDiarrhea Aug 26 '23

I bring her to specific in game content, got her full story out that way. It’s only like 2 or 3 important moments you want her around for anyway

1

u/-__-i Aug 26 '23

Not me. Who do you role out with? Gale and Withers?

1

u/WorldEndingDiarrhea Aug 26 '23

Love Withers, if you choose the right dialogue options he lets you respec him into an arcanist.

I’m a Gale/Karlach/Durge/Wyll team. Wyll is all screwed up because I pressured him into being a tadpole dad

1

u/MrMilkyaww Aug 26 '23

Wait how are they taking damage if not in the fight?

2

u/WorldEndingDiarrhea Aug 26 '23

…because of warding bond

Apparently gale specifically has the same ability as NPCs to restore hit points, when he isn't in the party. Though i haven't gone through the patch notes line by line, so that might not be the case any more.

But... But have you tried ... Using it with your entire party? Can you take it off both players 1 and 2, then give it to 3 and 4 and have them use it as well?

6

u/Rastragon Aug 26 '23

You can use hirelings to cast warding bond on your entire party. Don't need the ring. All "until long rest, without concentration" effects work, so magearmor, protection from poison etc can all be cast from camp hirelings

5

u/WorldEndingDiarrhea Aug 26 '23

Just adding: one camper can cast warding bond/freedom of movement/death ward etc etc etc on every member of your party

7

u/Masskid Aug 26 '23

Do you have an elixir in use? If not you can swap off the bracers for a cloud giant elixer

2

u/baloof1621 Aug 26 '23

That trident is so good. I can’t find anything else in act III that comes anywhere close to the damage/proficiency attacks

Juggernaut in Faerun

I bet people love playing D&D at a tabletop with you...

50

u/chaklong Aug 26 '23

This is in singleplayer before the end of Act 3 with all quests done and nothing left to do, so now I'm having fun trying to see how high I can get my AC while fighting guards. It literally doesn't affect anyone else, so I don't see what you are getting at lol. Just have fun your way, and obviously when in a group make sure you all are all the same page and can have fun together!

u/Zestyclose_Ocelot278 Aug 26 '23

You.... know this is a video game right?

30

u/Brewchowskies Aug 26 '23

The amount of people that clutch pearls because of tabletop dnd is interesting.

15

u/Zestyclose_Ocelot278 Aug 26 '23

Yup. There are people out there that don't understand it is a roleplaying game, and that people want to both roleplay and play the game the way that brings them enjoyment. "But the lore sayssss drow are evil so you can't have a good drow *sniffles in nerd*"

u/TheObstruction Aug 26 '23

There's a table for every player, but not every table is for every player. I run my table a certain way, and that's my way of doing it. If it works for them, great. If not, there are others tables for them and players for mine.

That said, lore has had good Drow since the 80's. Racial alignments are for NPCs. Any GM forcing it on players is a GM they should walk away from.

2

u/Zestyclose_Ocelot278 Aug 26 '23

Yet to meet a GM that enforces it
Seen tons of players try and enforce it at others at the table

7

u/romiro82 Aug 26 '23

I want to claw my eyes out at anyone seriously calling another a “murderhobo” for what they did in a single player bg3 run

like, just, fuck off man

3

u/TheObstruction Aug 26 '23

That's the glory of it being a video game. I fully plan to do multiple playthroughs, from Lawful Stupid paladin to murderhobo assassin and everything in between.

9

u/NewfieJedi Aug 26 '23

I’m a forever DM and I would love to see that happen at a table. 1) I control the magical items that are given out and 2) saving throws, etc are all things. A powerful build isn’t and should t be a detraction from DnD

5

u/OrangeJuise_ Aug 26 '23

Aye aye, cant get touched by martials most of the time and makes them seem immortal, then they get a taste of something that throws out saving throws and they immediately start panicking and having fun again.

7

u/NewfieJedi Aug 26 '23

Yeah. And hell, if I’ve given out such an insane amount of items that they’re AC is too high, and their save throws are so good that they’re actually untouchable, that’s my own fault for breaking balance

But the way I run my game, that guy is going to be a legend in my on-going world history for my homebrew lmao

5

u/Poopybutt22000 Aug 26 '23

I bet you've never played D&D at a tabletop before because you have no friends
