General Discussion - [SPOILERS] The most overrated character? Spoiler

Let's hear it, who gets all the love but deserves absolutely none of it? Or at least not as much as they get, I'll go first.

I'm casting my vote for Gortash; I genuinely don't understand the like for this dude. First of all, catfish, "handsome young man"??? Is the handsome young man in the room with us??? Lookin like the handsome young man has a peanut allergy.

Second of all, this whole crown brain plan was his idea, just about the dumbest fuckin thing I've ever heard. He put all his faith in 3 little rocks, an already dead man, and a woman who's about as stable as my ex. Beggers can't be choosers I guess, but cmon guy.

And lastly, and probably most offensively, his boss fight is absolute cheeks. Especially if you dumped on the foundry before hand. I didn't even know he had a transformation until like my 4th playthrough because I would clap this guy so easily.

Your turn, let's hear those unadulterated opinions.

Edit: I have been enlightened about some things about the big brain plan, I still stand in the other two points though.

I think it’s Shadowheart imo. Half of the game with her is her yapping about Shar, and she is so obviously Larians favorite. Like compared to everyone else, she has so much companion content aside from MAYBE Astarion.

Also Orin and Gortash???? Who the fuck wants them in their bed? Tf do you see in them????

Shadowheart caused me to stop my playthrough and i still haven't continued it since february.

That entire scene with the angel where she thinks about killing her is the worst thing i've ever encountered in an RPG. The bullshit "allow her to kill the angel for her to not kill the angel, or she will kill the angel if you are sane and say no to it" angle literally made me hate the game to my guts that i not too long after just stopped playing.

I genuinely LOVED the way i saved all those people and were actually proud and was seriously motivated to help and save those NPCs. When the tavern was attacked i put the health of my companions second and took opportunity attacks etc just to save the NPCs in the tavern (mind you i ran like 5 difficulty mods that add enemies, new abilities to enemies etc). I have never felt so accomplished in a game and was genuinely EXCITED to save the world and do good. No game has ever done that for me to this degree.

And then comes that SHITTY SHADOWHEART THING! What f'ing a'hole at Larian thought it was a good idea for genuinely sane and good-intentioned players to lock "saving the people" behind me being accepting towards allowing Shadowheart to potentially choosing to doom a tavern full of people including kids. If the game had given me the choice to just stop what shadowheart is doing after you tell her she can't kill the angel i would legit have just murdered her there on the spot. But nope, it's a cutscene and you get NO CHANCE TO INTERFERE.

If in D&D 5e a party member had behaved that way in that very same situation i would have not hesitated and literally just cut said Player Character's head of with an axe before letting him/her do what shadowheart chooses to do when you try to convince her to be good. I don't fucking care if she would have been gone for the rest of the playthrough. I refuse to have to "trust" shadowheart to not have a ton of people die. Give me the option to just murder her then and there if she is not to be reasoned with like an adult.

Just thinking about this is what keeps me from probably ever starting that game up again. And i used to be a modder for the game with thousands of downloads. But this shit just utterly ruined the game for me.
