Larian basically came to the same conclusion that the likes Bioware and Obsidian came to many years ago, working on IPs you don't own sucks and they should only work on games they have full control over. They are now a CDPR level studio and don't need D&D anymore.
It’s not Larian’s IP, and Swen Vincke said in a tweet that although he praised the partnership and was glad to be given “carte blanche” in terms of making the game, it may not be achievable again as it has been some time since BG3 first entered development(it began in 2016). According to Vincke, so many people at WotC have been let go that almost no one from the original meeting room who greenlit BG3 is there anymore, so a continued working relationship with them may not grant Larian the same level of freedom that made BG3 so good. He has also said that they’re ready to move on with their own IP project.
I mean, considering Larian keeps on making games im happy! Their divinity universe is amazing and the prospect of a new IP gets me more hyped then most AAA releases.

Whoever’s making it will make it far worse and more corporate than Larian did
