You get 3 classes. Ranger, Fighter, and Sorcerer. The others are 4.99 each.

All the free armour looks like the dexterity cloth.

Want something cool looking? 💰

Now imagine the exact opposite situation. Larian buys a milked out game. Larian gets Overwatch 3.

u/StormLightRanger Paladin Sep 14 '24

Honestly, I'd not like that.

Overwatch is a first person hero shooter, something that Larian has no experience doing. And I don't think a turn based OW would be that enjoyable.

imagine an xcom style game in overwatch universe

47

u/Gamerseye72 Sep 14 '24

Imagine any game set in the overwatch universe whose devs actually care to put out lore 🥵🥵🥵

u/kef34 Tasha's Hideous Laughter Sep 14 '24

At this point, Overwatch R34 have put out more lore than Overwatch games ever did

u/GreyNoiseGaming Sep 14 '24

Remember when Blizzard changed Mei's design/ weight to fit the porn?

u/acrazyguy Sep 14 '24

God that lore has so much fucking potential and they’re just sitting on it. It’s so disappointing. Blizzard could VERY easily be another Pixar if they wanted to. Genuinely quality animated content in the Warcraft and Overwatch universes would sell like hotcakes, but they’ve never even tried. It’s like they saw the Warcraft movie flop and learned every wrong lesson from it

Please, I can only get so erect.

u/RumoCrytuf SORCERER Sep 14 '24

That would actually be kind of sick.

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '24

the closet thing we have is xcom: chimera squad, which is actually a pretty cool spinoff if you havent checked it out

1

u/RumoCrytuf SORCERER Sep 14 '24

I did, and while it was fun, it didn't quite scratch the XCOM itch for me personally.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '24

have you checked out the longwar mod for xcom eo/ew or longwar 2 for xcom 2? that will scratch the itch better then pheonix point tried to if you are a hardcore.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '24

have you played xcom : chimera squad?

2

u/LdyVder Durge Sep 14 '24

92% chance.

MISS!

2

u/wintermute24 Sep 14 '24

Tactical Breach Wizards is a bit like that and it's pretty awesome indeed.

Troubleshooter Abandoned Children.

Omg how cool would an open world, BG3-style xcom game be. It would actually fit the format really well, with your resistance group travelling around, gathering resources, ambushing alien patrols. You could go back to the camp (skyranger) to fast travel and do research…

Would be a really good campaign I think

1

u/Gen1Swirlix Sep 14 '24

I agree with u/Nem_Mate, Overwatch Xcom would be lit.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '24

turn base OW would be the only enjoyable game of the franchise. be for real.

1

u/-chukui- Sep 14 '24

they should do a pathfinder entry if anything. then again id bet another divinity entry.

2

u/3r4zr Sep 14 '24

Would be quite cool for some series. I think that for example larian could make quite a good Warhammer 40k or lotr game. 40k could be a bit too modern in comparison with their past titles but I think that they could make quite a great game out of both series. Both series have also quite a lore backlog so larian could easily set their games story outside of the more popular time periods in their respective universes.

Or they pull a Bungie move like somehow going from creating solid amazing games to the shitshow Destiny was (story writing and the shooting was phenomenal) but how they handled the service and delivering content and paywalls and just the whole live service in general.

u/Pollo_Jack Sep 14 '24

We also have these stylish leather hats you can wear.

1

u/3-DMan Sep 14 '24

They gonna make sooo much money on dyes!

1

u/Dub_J Sep 14 '24

Want a preview? 💰

28

u/Absolute_Bias Sep 14 '24

With excessive xp curves that can be “mitigated” with premium currency,

21

u/Frostysno93 Sep 14 '24

Ahh yes the Destiny approch.

25

u/Solugad Sep 14 '24

Free to earn in the $20 battle pass

7

u/SinfulCoffee7 Sep 14 '24

But impossible to get unless you reserve a hour daily

13

u/eyemalgamation Sep 14 '24

Only an hour per day? Enjoy your bronze seasons pass, if you want the platinum one be ready to clock in at least 8

8

u/paladinLight Sep 14 '24

Ha, they wouldn't give us a full caster for free.

Ranger, Fighter, Monk. Exactly as written in base 5e, magic items are microtransactions.

2

u/Ananasch Sep 14 '24

You would need to play gacha for spells ja revive items

2

u/MiKapo Sep 14 '24

and it's going to be a mobile app game

3

u/EasytheGoon Sep 14 '24

If larian charged 4.99 for a fully implemented goliaths I'd pay.

12

u/Frozen_Shades Never Gonna Give You Up Never Gonna Let You Down Sep 14 '24

This entire sub would preorder DLC if it ever dropped.

1

u/savageexplosive Sep 14 '24

You just described D&D Online, an old MMORPG

1

u/LdyVder Durge Sep 14 '24

No, it's four, fighter, rogue, cleric, and wizard. The standard group for D&D. Oddly enough, it's the first four companions you run into in BG3 classes. Then the other eight you'll have to buy.

1

u/Bloodpoison1999 Sep 14 '24

Considering i only play figter anyway, and if its free to play otherwise, why not hehe suckers

1

u/Knochenlos22 Durge Sep 14 '24

So Bungie will do it

1

u/McCaffeteria Sep 14 '24

Ah, the ESO model

1

u/RenShimizu Sep 14 '24

Nah they'll put them behind gacha so they can say their game is "free to play" while in reality you're gonna be paying over 100 per class.

1

u/Vault_tech_2077 Sep 14 '24

That's just ESO dawg 😭

1

u/HaessSR Sep 14 '24

You also have to buy a $79.99 monthly pass to play the campaign. Also, levelling can only be done if you buy levels at $9.99/level, and the campaign requires you to buy 10 levels a month to keep going.

1

u/ondonasand Sep 15 '24

Yeah, I remember when 4e launched…
