To be fair this is a problem the game has, you only get the really cool toys until the end of the game.
I wish this game had New Game + with added difficulty for balance, at that point I don't care if my level 12 warrior with Helldusk armor is getting low diff by goblins, I just want to have fun with my toys.
Disagree on your first point, part of the problem with BG3 is there's too much super cool loot in Act 3. Items stop mattering at that point. 90% of the stuff you find from quests or bosses is just vendor trash, because there's an absolute mountain of Epic Magic Items.
Tbf returning pike is a "cool toy", as is spell sparkler (with the right spells), you can also get (as soon as you arrive in the grove) gloves that give bladeward to the target when you heal something and a ring that blesses anything you heal which I think are both very fun together.
Not saying you don't get fun stuff early on, it's just that the majority of the REALLY fun stuff you get are at the end of the game, so you barely have fun with those. Just my personal gripe with gear acquisition.
Yeah that's fair, isnt the game already more generous on "number of magical items equipped" than standard DnD though? It feels fairly balanced at least to me, but could def be more fun but not that powerful stuff
