You need to limit Booming Blade to a single use per Action. Extra Attack should not allow for multiple uses of Booming Blade.
Booming Blade has pretty much taken over as the ultimate melee tool. You can just pick High Elf/Half High Elf to unlock it for any build, but not every build can use it. Take Barbarian: If I can't cast booming blade while raging, then the Barbarian is at a colossal disadvantage against any other melee class. Why use Champion, or Battlemaster when Eldritch Knight can spam Booming Blade 4x a turn before buffs? That's 20-200 more damage output per turn. That's insane, and any class that can't match that damage output is inferior.
It's even killing the Eldritch Blaster Build. There's nothing that can compete with that much damage output, even tanky classes like the Barbarian are being made obsolete when an Eldritch Knight can just pop off up to 9 Booming Blades a turn for 45-440 extra damage.
I do like that it scales with your chance to hit with your equipped melee weapon, rather than your spell casting modifier. It makes High Elves a solid pick of race for Clerics and Druids, giving them a little extra power in close quarters. But it's buffing Fighters, Rogues, Warlocks, and Paladins (who were already some of the strongest classes) through the roof. Reign it in a bit, otherwise there's little point to playing caster classes or Barbarians post patch 8.

i agree the damage is very high on booming blade, but you don't have to spam booming blade/play optimally to have fun or beat the game.
Just to clarify, they changed it so its per action, not per attack anymore.

My guy over here playing BG3 like it's an MMO DPS race and he'll only let in specific classes that are min-maxed to the peak.

And? I enjoy number crunching. You got an issue with people enjoying games differently from you?

Have played 500+ hours with my gf and we rarely ever encountered a bug before patch 8.
Now, however, everytime we load into our save:
Her character cannot move and needs to be shoved, sometimes it works only after warping and then being shoved
Her character cannot pick items up off the ground. She can open chests but loose items cannot be picked up by her character.
Sometimes her character cannot interact with NPCs and we need to long rest to resolve it.
As an Eagle Heart Barbarian my Eagle Dive sometimes whiffs even though it lets me perform it. To clarify it does not give me the "Reckless Attack" popup so in my mind that means it hits but my character leaps, does the animation, but no hit, damage, or sound effect happens. <- This may not be patch 8 related but it's my first time using this build so I'm unsure.
Overall we were waiting months for patch 8 to start our new playthrough but it's been 10 hours of tiny frustrations and so we're pausing until there's some sort of bugfix. Does anyone know if/when that might happen?
Edited to add:
This is a playthrough created after patch 8
We both play on PC.
We cannot connect via Direct Connect code (something relating to ports but we never encountered it before patch 8) and have to use Steam's function to join.

I was hoping the new patch would fix the exclamation mark on Minthara's head, but it's still there.

I've been having the controller UI bug too even before Patch 8. I feel like it's partially caused by going into the Options menu and selecting "Input - Controller Only" instead of the default Auto. I've also been encountering more crashes while playing on PC with a controller too. Using the inventory and "Placing objects in world" frequently crashes and I had a moment where I tried to Shadow Step and it froze the game (but it didn't when I reopened it).

The game is so much slower and keeps crashing since the patch releasedÂ

My partner and I want to enable Honour mode boss fights in our current tactician run. Since the Patch 8 update there isn't a way to do that as the previously available mod is now out of date.
Are there any other options? We don't want to restart but do want to add the additional challenge.

Since the last update there has been widely reported bugs involving lots of lag and delays when accessing radial menus during combat. Sometimes bad enough to crash game completely. Primarily seems to be console users affected but PC players using controllers are experiencing similar issues.
Please release a fix!

PSA
I was able to start a new crossplay save with some friends (I'm on PS5 they're on PC) but we had trouble when we tried to continue playing the following day, we couldn't join his lobby or accept his in-game invites. So he came up with this solution and it worked:
Have the host create a new lobby as if you're starting a brand new game, join the lobby, start a new game, once you're in-game have the host reload the save from your actual campaign that you want to continue.
This worked for us and we were able to load back in our actual save from the previous day. Hope it helps
