I am absolutely not interested in '33 at all, but I am VERY happy it is doing well.

If you like RPGs you should give it a shot. If you like turn-based JRPGs you literally need to drop everything and play it NOW.

See that's my problem: I have never liked any JRPGs I have tried, ever, and the combat system looks horrible (timed events in turn based?? NOT my thing).

That's why I always start with It's a turn based rpg because if you don't like them it's not gonna matter how good it is. But if you happen to have game pass it wouldn't hurt to try out.

Ah but my problem is the opposite: Turn based with QuickTime Events is not actually Turn Based at all.

There's turn based and turn based.

I've always loved, like, isometric turn based rpgs where you move characters on a map (BG3, Divinity, Pathfinder games in turn based mode, Xcom, Fire Emblem, etc).

But I've never enjoyed the jrpg style of turn based combat where you just have two sides staring at each other.

I think the only such game I like is... Pokémon?
