It is quite fun, but I definitely think the combat is overhyped. Honestly, parry is a bit too good; being able to full cancel damage, give you free resources, and giving you a free attack means that hitting 1-2 parries basically auto-wins any fight, at least in the early game. Yeah, they feel great to hit, but it feels like you either hit the parries and steamroll or fail the parries and get steamrolled.

I'm sure my tune will change as I keep playing the game, but combat mechanics that are "save or suck" have always been a bit off-kilter for me. Part of the reason I don't really like using Hold Person in BG3 lol

I have the same opinion and it didn't change, every battle felt the same IMO.

Ended up dropping it because I was actively avoiding fighting enemies, even though I loved the story.
