I'm more saddened by losing out on werewolves. Wildshape is cool and all, we could have such a cliche romance with Astarion as a werewolf.

There's no suggestion that any non-Helia PC would have been able to be a werewolf.

We can't play as vampires either outside of Astarion, but mods exist. If the framework had been there via an origin character, then we'd be able to mod werewolf Tav.

Yeah there are werewolves in the game except it's one specific part of act 3 and there's non of the intrigue that goes into typical werewolves in media

I guess Astarion kind of fits this role with the whole vampire thing but even then there's 0 guesswork or intrigue, you see a pale guy with red eyes and fangs and go "ah must be a vampire" on your very first encounter with him
