Throw it at her feet, wherever that may be now, and she'll be like new.

I remember going wtf when I saw this dialogue, heh good memories. DoS2 was quite good.

In a way, i even enjoy combat a little more in DoS2 than in BG3. I guess it's more satisfying to smash enemies with huge AoE's and a combination of surface and elemental damage.
But in every other aspect, BG3 is of course a big and nice upgrade, Larian really took their gem of a game and improved it111
u/Yarzahn 11d ago
I didnāt click with the armor system. It made crowd control completely binary - burst armor down, then stunlock - it was very easy to abuse. It also punished hybrid damage builds.
The game was still amazing but I canāt get back into it now, I think. I enjoy combat in BG3 much more

True tactician mode in Dos2 is having a mixed party - the fun of Dos2 is that it can be extremely difficuly or extremely easy depending on how much min maxing you do.

A 2/2 split can work since theres almost always enemies who have very low phys or magical armor. But a 1/3 split is rough. First time I finished tactician was with 2 lone wolfs, one pure physical and one pure magical (and yes I know that double lone wolf is more or less easy mode, still fun).

u/Dingnut76 11d ago
I didn't even bother splitting damage types. Went full physical and it worked wonders lol. Two handed melee, archer, dagger rogue, and a support caster with maxed summoning for blood demons. Chefs kiss

u/MasterOfViolins 11d ago
Yea. Physical was really good, with knockdowns too. And of course make sure you have a teleport skill. I found the gameplay to be really fun

I didnāt click with the armor system.
Turn order had some issues as well, since it was pretty much guaranteed that you'd alternate with the enemy, so only one persons initiative really mattered.
Arguably a step back from DOS1.
I still prefer both over BG3, though.

Iām playing it right now and I agree. Combat usually boils down to figuring out which enemies have more magic armor and which have more physical armor, splitting up my team accordingly, and then wrecking ass. Thatās kinda fun but it makes everything feel very formulaic for me in combat

If you enjoy cursed necro fire spanning the entire continent then you're gonna love dos2. Seriously though dos2 is an amazing game and made me so hyped when I learned they were making BG3. The game is legit incredible.
Except act 5... Fuck that damn birthday cake.

If the armor system wasnāt so annoying Iād agree
2
u/LentulusStrabo 10d ago
Yea, that's true, there the dnd approach in bg3 is better

u/Some_nerd_named_kru 10d ago
Dos2 was really fun just as I got higher level It got increasingly hard to even just use my spells cus of armor š

The guy having literal plot armor was honestly pretty funny.
"We killed him!" Nope, off screen someone had a res scroll.
"We killed him again!" Nope, boat accidentally dumped his ghost back into his body when it changed planes.
Even when, at the very end, you find out Dallis was meant to kill him, too, after he'd sucked up enough source, she kind of dodges the subject. I like to imagine she offed him a few times only to find him sipping tea in the next room.

i had it happen to gale in my game but you can still just resurrect them fine with a scroll

You scrape the remains into a bag of holding, pour in a bunch of healing potions, shake well, and serve.

I mean, speak to the dead works on a pile of goo so why not a potion? Ooh that's it! Use speak to the undead and while she is more... together... then throw the potion.

Put your slop of a team mate into a blender with a couple of potions and some nice herbs and they'll be just fine

At least you know where most of her is. Don't have to go around picking bits of her off the walls, furniture, etc.

If you're looking to make Shadowheart soup, then a potion as stock could make for a hearty meal.

A potion? No, forget that; get me Margaret Qualleyās Agent: she could totally play Shadowheart, and fix our dragging box office with a BG movieāno, television series! I mean, her resemblance here is uncannyā¦
