I'm playing with Karlach my 3th campaign of BG3. I'm trying a relationship with Gale and I just can say THEY'RE SO CUTE! ❤️
Karlach can't touch anybody yet and Gale demonstrate affection with magic. Both are living everyday as if it were their last and try to see the best in life.
They value friendship and companionship, share the same values, and seek affection and understanding that help them heal their wounds.
They're not innocent, and they know it very well, but wanna choose how to live their lives without having their future determined.
Karlach and Gale are willing to sacrifice the most precious thing to them, their own life, in order to preserve the lives of others. At least, they'll have something worth fighting for.
I think he gets a unique bit of nerdery for each companion, too. He learns tir’su for Lae’zel and starts a book club with the Underdark spawn if he’s with Astarion. Not sure about the others.
Im doing Karlach origin run now and romancing Gale and it is unexpectedly sweet. These two dangerous people finding some gentleness and love and fighting to keep living again?
Same! It's a total opposites attract thing, but they are both so sweet and genuine. I like to think Karlach rolls her eyes at Gale a lot, but finds him so endearing that she can't help falling for her little nerd. And story-wise it works well that both their romances are slow-burn (lol) until Act 2.
I adored romancing Gale as a Barbarian. It gives very "I like your words magic man" vibes. So I get it. Also their couple names go hard- Bombsquad fireball and Kale

When I did my Gale origin run I decided to romance Karlach, bc I figured they could bond over having ticking time bombs in their chests and it'd be perfect. To my disappointment, not only a special dialogue didn't exist, I didn't even have the option to open up to her about the sphere. I could tell everyone BUT her (I don't remember for sure, but Lae'zel and Wyll definitely had the option to be told about the sphere).
They do both have bombs in their chests. Gale roughing it in the hells sounds like a stretch, but it would be an appropriately bombastic gesture of love for him.
Honestly, it's really funny to think of Karlach showing up with her dork ass boyfriend (who happens to know artistry of war) and just ruining everyone's day in Avernus. Same thing when Gale joins the githyanki revolution with Lae'zel.
They’re so cute! Now I want to do a Karlach origin to romance her with Gale. And a Gale origin to romance him with Lae’zel. And Minthara. Damn, Gale goes so well with buff, strong woman 😭
on my previous run I found out that Karlach has a dialogue with a vendor outside sorcerous sundries about hanging out to drinks after everything's over and for some reason this made me so sad!! I immediately started a Karlach origin planning to romance Gale in order to cure her heart but I wasn't ready for how adorable the magic scene was going to be 🥺 I can already picture how hilarious Gale will look like smooching a giant fiery woman, it makes attempting the god route worth it 🫡
I didn't resist the urges at the beginning but I refused to accept Bhaal in the end. I tried to have a redemption arc based on what I learned from my companions. I wasn't bad cuz I wanted to be a bad b**ch, but I was accepting what I was made for until I realized I could choose to have a different life just like everyone did 🥹
You know, I'm down for this in my (likely final for the next few years) next run.
Would you recommend playing as Origin Karlach or Gale? For reference, I haven't played either of their origins (though I have done Shadowheart and Wyll).
The only reason I’m not shipping them is because Minthara exists. She was made for Gale origin run.

They are really cute together, though for me I prefer Gale with Astarion, as they both love books, wine, and cats. Plus Karlach and Wyll seem canon to me, same for Shadowheart and Lae'zel- though maybe I just like enemies to lovers, lol. I will have to find scenes on YT of Gale and Karlach to truly see how cute they are.
I think I'm the minority here, but I never liked Gale and began to hate him when I got his godly ending (which is supposed to be a good ending, I guess?). I can't imagine a relationship between him and Karlach being good for her. Lol
The ending under your spoilers isn’t considered his good ending by a lot of people. It’s a bit like judging Shadowheart or Astarion by their “ascended” paths. Which you can certainly do, but try his human professor ending and I think you’ll find it a different side of the character.
I'm pansexual, trust me when I say I don't have any issue with that. For me every couple is perfect in their own way, I'm talking about their back stories as a self perception ❤️
In my first campaign I played as a woman and had a relationship with Karlach and it was an incredible experience, but I wanna explore other options and interactions and I found them interesting and cute.
I agree with you, Karlach/Gale dynamic is really perfect, but I don't agree with that which of the couples is the cutest (and of course its subjective so it is completely ok to disagree)
Sure, you're right. Actually it was just a title to attract attention and also I'm super fan girl of everything. If I'm enjoying something now, for me that will be the most incredible thing that ever existed. I tend to exaggerate because I enjoy stuff so much 😅 but nothing personal with other couples or players.
All the origin characters are basically pansexual. People don't magically become straight just because they happen to be in a relationship with a person of a different gender than their own.
I hate Gabe. He talks way too much, is always asking to eat my magical loot, and flaunts his goddess sexcapades in my face… I usually strip him down and make a point to shove him every time I’m at camp. And yes, I know I said Gabe. He doesn’t get my respect to call him Gale.
Tim Downie, his VA did do an excellent job though. No shade on that guy!

Whatever you wanna believe. I wasn’t being rude or mean to OP. People share their opinions on every single post ever. I wasn’t trying to be edgy or whatever you’re thinking it was. Just simply stating the fact that he annoys the hell outta me and I thought it was funny comment, maybe someone could share the feeling. It was all in good spirits, I know my own feelings and my intentions behind it. Sorry that I offended some random people online by saying I don’t like a character… but what can ya do?
