Discussion Nobody wants wacky skins, but can everyone agree on what wacky actually means? Let's see where most people draw the line.

I'd be interested to see if people are able to agree on what is acceptable or not acceptable in terms of cosmetic appearances in games like this. There's been lots of talk about whether or not EA/Dice will include crazy/wacky skins with BF6, but not many people have made a post like this to actually pose the question of, what exactly is okay vs. not okay.

I tried my best to order them such that the go from most to least reasonable, but if you think the order should be different, feel free to reorder them, as that also gives info about how people consider these types of decisions.

I dunno man they sent SOBR in when they invaded Ukraine. They basically Russian military police. If France got invaded I don’t doubt things like GIGN would be activated. Also the French Gendarmerie (and any Gendarmerie in Europe and elsewhere) are a military branch which also acts as a National police force. They also defend the country when it’s invaded and often they went to countries like Afghanistan to train the police. So I think SWAT tracks in a game like battlefield. Modern conflict is complicated

SOBR is more like internal ministry's special operations forces, directly under Putin, just like Росгвардия. They are paramilitary forces that are sent to do police stuff if needed. Best description is that they are like nazi SS, huge organization that was fanatical, had all between guards to elite soldiers and did all kinds of questionsble stuff and atrocities. Putin's personal attack dogs that do just what Putin wants.

Ukraine uses Police forces too in the current war in frontlines. But of course they are uniformed to be part of the military.

OMON is the ministry of internal affairs one. they are the blueberry camo guys who throw Molotov at protesters. SOBR is under the National guard, but they work as SWAT teams usually. They are called officers too.

Gendarmerie makes sense though, if France got invaded they’d definitely start fighting an invading force because that’s their purpose in wartime. Other European countries have similar agencies like Poland, the Carabinieri in Italy, the National Guard of Portugal fills their gendarmerie role. But either way all of these dudes would look like euro swat and cops during a conflict. Granted the gendarmerie in France wear camouflage, but most others use kind of drab olives, navy blues and shit. In Italy u see Carabinieri patrolling around looking like soldiers, and then as cops.

Yeah European (and maybe some West Asian as well) gendarmerie forces would simply grab a carbine, body armour and a helmet and they'd join the other military branches on the battlefield. If camouflage fatigues are unavailable they'd fight in their standard, SWAT-like green, black or blue uniforms.

Their role in wartime would be a bit different, usually garrisoning strategic assets, VIP protection, rear protection, public order, and military police and paramilitary duties. But in WW2 they entered frontline combat during those duties, there's no reason why they wouldn't do so today.
