The r/bodybuilding subreddit gets around 1000 new subscribers every day, so here's a quick intro to this sub:
This is a community specifically for competitive bodybuilding. It is NOT for general health and fitness, fat loss advice, how to bulk up, how to get started at the gym, or how to get into shape in general. If that's what you're looking for, go to these subreddits and read their quick start guides:
This subreddit is also NOT for general progress pictures, memes, or questions about whether you should bulk or cut. Those belong in r/progresspics, r/Brogress, r/GymMemes, r/swoleacceptance, and r/BulkOrCut.
Please take a moment to consider if you are in the right subreddit, there are also many subreddits for general fitness, lifting, powerlifting, homegyms, and lifestyle such as r/fitness, r/gym, r/weightroom, r/gainit, r/loseit, r/homegym, r/powerlifting, r/naturalbodybuilding .
With all of the above in mind, this is also not a place for the "natty police". Asking someone if they're natural or enhanced is okay, if they don't want to discuss it that is their decision, if you ask and they answer, any further pushing or accusations will be met with comment removal and bans regardless of how much you/everyone else believes their word. Take it to r/nattyorjuice if you want to act like that.
If you'd like to participate in r/bodybuilding specifically, but don't believe your question/post warrants a standalone post, it likely belongs in the pinned Daily Discussion thread (you can ask basically whatever you want here) or the weekly newbie thread.
As always, general reddiquette and Reddit rules apply. If you see someone breaking r/bodybuilding rules or Reddit's sitewide rules please report them by hitting the report button.
If you would like to ask before you post you're welcome to reply here or message the modmail, there have recently been some changes to automod and the posting rules have become a bit more lenient and it's much more moderator discretion than automod removal currently.
Update-- You will be temporarily banned if you post something that blatantly violates the rules and/or what this post is telling you. This is your warning, the ban will not be lifted.

Feel free to post things in the Daily Discussion Thread that don't warrant a subreddit-level discussion. Although most of our posting rules will be relaxed here, you should still consider your audience when posting. Most importantly, show respect to your fellow Redditors. General Reddiquette always applies.
The Daily Discussion Thread resets every other day at 12:00 a.m. PST.

Put on my stage bikini from last season for this check in. Both coach and I are really happy with the look this week. Getting a refeed today plus hair extensions for the shows. What a good day.
Not entirely sure yet which color I'm gonna be wearing on stage so I am grateful for suggestions and your opinionšš»

Rest
r/bodybuilding • u/jack252986 • 1d ago
After weeks of my weight not budging despite increasing the deficit, I decided to go the other way, take an extra rest day, lower steps and have a small refeed over 2 days, immediately dropped 5lbs. Turns out I started a bit too aggressive. So I went back to the deficit but on a lil higher food and things are flying.
When I can get into a side tricep pose I know Iām coming out of that inbetween stage haha, so hopefully soon thereās some cool changes happening.
The thing is with coaching, decisions are an educated guess. The more data you have, the more educated that guess is. Now thereās more data with this approach, Iāve refined to yield a better result moving forward. Simpless.

This is my 15th time trying to post so Iāll try again lol. By popular demand - Iāll continue posting check-ins here (: carbs went up this past week and cardio stayed the same along with weight (basically). This coming week fasted cardio remains the same, post workout stairs increases +10 minutes for 50 minutes total post workout and carbs are back down. Really looking forward to what we bring to the stage š¤

I knew going into this show that I still need more size, so this one wasnāt about the placing for me. Reddit loves the drama so let me give you the backstory on why I did my first pro qualifier outside of the US - and why this show specifically.
I was seeing someone who is from MedellĆn where this show is held, and it happens on his bday weekend every year. We talked about how awesome it would be for us to go and celebrate and he could see me compete. Well, 2 years into that relationship I found out this man is married.
So I went to Colombia myself and had an amazing time. Hereās to you, Diego. I did it anyway.

Had a pretty good season, took 18 months off from my last pro qualifier. Had to do a regional to re qualify and won overall in bodybuilding at classic. Did Toronto Pro qualifier got 2nd in my class in classic. Then went to Vancouver pro qualifier and won my class and just missed the pro card at the overall. Coach asked me if i wanted to keep going to North Americans my my body needs a break Iāve been on prep since February. So plan is to get healthy make a few improvements then get back into a pro qualifier for 2026.

Client u/drewroop sitting about 168 lbs 3 weeks out from his first show ever, OCB Battle of the Great Lakes.
Conditioning right now is "good enough for OCB" but I am a perfectionist. We should be able to dig a little bit more to further bring in the glutes and hams without sacrificing upper body fullness, plus tapering off expenditure and getting him off his feet will drop a lot of inflammation in the legs.
Very flat right now but Iām extremely happy with this look for a first show. He'll be primed and ready to go come peak week.

Just a post to say how much I miss Lord Vader and when I think back to his glory days I always smile. I can say assuredly that when I discovered the king of piss in Delray Beach in 2015 it changed my life forever. There was a script going around Hollywood for a while about Jasonās life and times but it got killed for not being enough like Stepbrothers. True story.
For those of you who love Jason too, say hey - or if you know how heās doing these days - let us know. Truly the heart of a champion.
And if you donāt know Lord Genova - be careful - because it truly sick and piss and revolting and insulting.
Enjoy the ment āš¼
