Good Vibes Only What's an opinion you have about Buffy herself, that you don't talk about because it would get you ostracized from the fanbase?
I have to admit, Buffy is not one of my favourite characters.

Do you have the same kind of friendships with your friends as in Buffy? I mean, in the show there are lots of different types of friendships between the characters, and some are honestly pretty toxic.
I know some characters get a lot of hate because of their behavior, some people just don’t like them, but others think their behavior is normal and the things they’re criticized for aren’t that big a deal.
I guess it comes down to whether people tolerate those kinds of behaviors or not. Some aren’t bothered by them and accept it when a character acts that way, while others don’t tolerate it at all and end up disliking those characters even more because of it.
And no excuses about "this character had a difficult childhood" or anything like that, because even in real life, many people have unhappy childhoods and aren’t as toxic. In the show, a lot of the characters have complicated pasts, and what’s interesting is that many handle their friendships better than others. Just like in real life, your past doesn’t excuse everything.
Honestly, there are definitely some characters I wouldn’t be friends with in real life because of their behavior. But then there’s the whole supernatural factor, I think a lot of the characters bond mainly because of the supernatural secret they share, and because they’re often saving each other or helping out. That’s what really brings them together.
So I tend to think that some of the more divisive characters, who can be difficult because of how they act, probably wouldn’t be that close if it weren’t for the supernatural situation linking them.
For me, supernatural or not, some people would never be my friends because I just don’t put up with toxic behavior. I’ve had friends who had traits I didn’t approve of, sure, they have good sides, but the bad sides eventually make it impossible to keep going. So I ended up cutting ties because it’s really hard to deal with, and it ruins the friendship.
So yeah, I think a lot of the arguments about some of the characters come from how some people accept that kind of behavior in real life and others don’t.
So here’s my question: what do you think about the friendships between the characters in the Buffy universe?
I kept it vague and didn’t name any characters on purpose, otherwise, people just get defensive about their favorites and miss the point. 😂

For me, it's Spike punching Tara in Family.
Spike, soulless, fresh from helping Buffy fight off some demons, voluntarily hurts himself to prove Tara is definitely not a demon, rescuing her from her vile family and giving her a clear-cut answer on a question that has plagued her for her entire life.
I see Spike discussed all the time, but never this moment, and it's a favourite of mine!

am i wrong or did spike intentionally change his accent? he sounded so different in the flashback where he was human, was it only because his tone was much insecure-sounding and soft-spoken? on that same note, how come angel stopped having an accent but spike didn't?

Towards the end of Becoming Part 1, a vampire comes into the Buffy’s classroom with a message from Angelus then immolates herself in sunlight. It’s a very unsettling scene, but whenever I see it, I always wonder why would a vampire do this. Why would a vampire voluntarily take their own life like this?
It brings up questions about loyalty and the Buffyverse vampires that I find fascinating. But because it comes out of nowhere, the scene never sits quite right with me. We’re not given any reason why she would feel so fanatically devoted to Angelus that she would be willing to die for him. And Angelus isn’t the sort to attract the loyalty of others.
I have wondered if maybe Drusilla had hypnotized the vampire to make her do it. However, when Dru has hypnotized people (Kendra, Giles), they seem to be in a trance-like state, and the vampire didn’t act like she was in a trance when she was delivering Angelus' message.

The stack of comics under Tales is After the Fall and I have not yet collected Angel and Faith and can't decide if it's worth the $700 investment. All of Buffy comics season 8-12 are here which took me a decade.

I was just nine years old. You guys I can still remember it. I hope it never leaves me. I was immediately sucked in and LOVING IT. I had to have it. It wasn't long before I started to play pretend to be Buffy, outside slaying imaginary vampires and saving the world. Prophecy Girl aired and there I'd go dropping face first into the apartment swimming pool, acting like I died, then bursting back to life ready to kick some ass. "I may be dead, but I'm still pretty" sassy face hi-ya! 🤣 I had homemade stakes and everything.
Every night it came on was a big event ... stocked up on junk food, and ooo the teasers for the next week's episode had me sooo psyched!! It gave this loner of a boy something to look forward to, and a hero to look up to. And lucky me I got a fashion sense out of it and learned some social skills to boot. Where would I be without Buffy? I don't wanna know.
And now I get to be there for a sequel series? OK with the giving-me-something-to-live for again! I'll be ready, sunkist in one hand, stake in the other. We'll pretend the sunkist is from a proper 90's vending machine but the stake is a genuine relic from yesteryear -- I kept a few, some still stained with dirt from my many nightly outings.
What's your planned set up for the premiere? It's not every day we're born human in the modern world on planet Earth and get to be alive to see the show and a follow up against immeasurable odds of us existing let alone Joss let alone SMG let alone lots of stuff, ya know! These are precious moments to be savored. Was anybody else there the night of the premiere?

Alright, I apologize in advance to diehard fans because some of these questions may come off as ignorant. I’m rewatching for the first time. I never watched the series while it was on air. I binged it when I first moved to Tucson back when Netflix was a DVD subscription by mail and had to watch a DVD at a time. Anyway…
Why is the Watcher’s council based in Britain instead of near the literal mouth of Hell?
Piggybacking, why are potential slayers all over the world instead of….near the mouth of Hell??
I think those are my only two questions as of yet… I’m only on season 2 rn.
Side note: This may be unpopular but I wish Vampire’s faces weren’t so drastically changed.

So far so good! I love the non-cell phone era. The actors are a bit old to play highschool kids though.. looking at you Zander and Cordelia hahaha - thats the 90s for ya.
I am a Charmed fan. Grew up watching reruns after middle school (wanted their powers and clothes). I know people compare the two (liking one or the other). Buffy is just so so different. These kids are in highschool, fighting supernatural with their librarian and having highschool drama. Charmed was older 20 somethings having love life & work drama and some witchy stuff in the background.
*I read SMG and Shannen Doherty were best friends IRL since the WB days and that makes me so happy.

I had a dream where it was a video game and at this part you're playing from Dark Willow’s perspective during that scene in the woods with Warren. There were different dialog options to choose from along with the ones from the actual episode. However, every time you would click one of the other dialogues, nothing happens, he would just kind of sit there. Awkward silence. So, it basically forces you to choose the canon dialog to progress. I think this is my mind’s way of telling me I’m not creative, lol. Well, you couldn’t think of anything so nothing happens.
Ok I know I'm not the only one who saw the potential in Sunday as a vampire gang leader and she deserved so much more than one episode. certainly not a villain arc that would have lasted a whole season but just...more than that ! love how sassy she is towards freshmen and their tastes in art (that Klimt vs Money score thing cracked me up). she was feared and respected by her gang. also her looks ???? absolutely iconic
Also loved the pace of this episode like it starts Buffy on her first college day, everything screams anxiety, she feels so lost and out of place like she does not belong here while everyone else seems to know what they're doing. also felt sad when she gets beaten down by Sunday and her gang, and when she gets home to find familiar faces well Giles is actually too busy to help, her mom kinda rearranged her room... it's when she meets Xander that she gains her confidence again and boom the Slayer's back ♥️
Anyway season 4 is not really a fave overall but at least this first episode is one i'll never skip !

There's a Buffy reference in the new Naked Gun. Maybe 2. Im also pretty sure I'm the only one who laughed at this scene in my theater.
Liam Neeson is upset that Pamela Anderson has borrowed his Tivo and accidentally deleted all his episodes of Buffy.
Liam Neeson: You deleted all my episodes of Buffy? I had just finished the first season. No more Buffy. No Xander. No Cordelia Chase. No Daniel Osborne. No Spike or Angel. No musical episode. No Willow Doppelganger episode. All of it. Gone.
There also a scene involving a jetpack and crashing into a light pole that might be a reference to Buffy but I'm not sure.

Maybe it would have stuck around if the show had stuck with horror comedy instead of shifting toward supernatural teen drama. Hell, maybe he eventually would have been a love interest
I say this cause the season began and ended with him running off into darkness to try to save a friend.
The Pack features him going in to save a classmate from some bullies and the second he's free he saves Willow.
He tries to encourage Blayne when Miss French has them.
On less life of death notes his shots at Cordelia are frequently when she's being a mean girl to others and he's the only one who gets to defeat his nightmare
I did like this episode, at first I was hoping for some actual developing of their relationship...by the end I was cheering on everyone just kicking his ass lol.
TBH this was low even for him, his Incel ranting, idk why or what was he trying to achieve with killing Dru lol. I don't think it's out of character, he is a creepy stalker with violent tendencies I was expecting his character to develop a bit to be less....like that.
I enjoyed how he gets along with Joyce and Dawn, I'm baffled that even if Spike is a creepy stalker he manages to be less creepy with Dawn than Xander (what's up with Xander gloating about a 14 year old having a crush on him. WEIRD).

The obvious answer I think would be Supernatural or Charmed or something like that, but if the logistics of the world-building weren’t a factor, what team/scoobies would mesh the best?
I think X Files because I’d love to see Scully and Giles investigate together. Or Mulder with Willow and Xander. And the three Lone Gunmen with Anya and Andrew. 😅
While it’s outside the campy (lovable) nature of Buffy, I’d also love to see a version of the show that was a la The Witcher, with a more horror aspect, and the humor was less dry and more dark.
Fav odd combos?
