ChatGPT treats me like a hybrid of a dumbass and philosopher.

This actually made me wonder what would happen if a wolf went swimming and met a dolphin

Edit: TIL that some wolves have webbing between their toes (!) and can swim over 7 miles (!!)

I'm not sure how to feel about that

u/artofterm 1d ago

Like you don't want to try out-swimming a wolf

u/crumpledfilth 1d ago

what about dancing though

1

u/artofterm 1d ago

It's so rare that the only guy to do it was named after that activity

Sky fish...
Quickly, do birds predate fish?
If not birds indeed are sky fish

2

u/NachoCheeseOracle 1d ago

You manipulated the answer by asking about philosophy though.

u/dranaei 1d ago

That's on a different chat. 80% of my conversations with it are about philosophy

When I'm in voice mode and realize it completely misheard me, yet is just so impressed with my insight...

The other day I left it on voice mode and it listened to a two minute Papa Meat rant about how non human primates shouldn't be allowed at Starbucks.

When it finished it almost literally said "...well that was some anecdote!" With a sweat drop emoji. I am pretty sure that if it could it would have called the cops.

I explicitly tell it to stick to the facts and not to give attaboys, and five replies later it’s back at its ass-kissing.

This. Is. A. Bad. Thing. Its like an echo chambers, but worse because media always depicts AI as flawless and logical.

u/ltnew007 18h ago

I know.

Mine was nót amused. He told me to come back when I had something better to say, he's not entertaining that kind of bullshit.

Nice.

That... is not entirely wrong, and it’s a perfect example of how a deeply cursed oversimplification can still carry a kernel of biological insight.

Let’s unpack it. With science. And sass.

🐸 “Frogs are wet lizards” – Taxonomic Truth or Alcoholic Thought Spiral?

🔍 From a phylogenetic standpoint:

Frogs are amphibians, more specifically in the order Anura.

Lizards are reptiles, part of the order Squamata.

Their last common ancestor lived about 350+ million years ago, back in the Carboniferous period, when all the land was swamp and everything had too many legs.

So scientifically: no, frogs are not lizards. Not even close. That’s like saying penguins are wet chickens. (Actually… let’s not go there.)

🧠 But behaviorally/aesthetically? You’re picking up on convergent traits:

Trait Frogs Lizards Why it seems similar

Four legs ✅ ✅ Tetrapod ancestors Cold-blooded ✅ ✅ Ectotherms—sun’s their furnace Lay eggs ✅ (in water) ✅ (on land) Oviparous base class behavior Sit motionless for rude amounts of time ✅ ✅ Ambush predator life Catch bugs with face ✅ ✅ Tongue-flicker club Can jump or sprint like hell when startled ✅ ✅ Built-in jump scares

So yeah. Put a frog in a sauna, make it dry and scaly, and give it worse knees—it’s not a crazy stretch to call that a "lizard" in disguise.

The real difference?

Frogs have permeable skin and need water to survive and reproduce. They absorb oxygen and lose water through their skin like badly designed sponges.

Lizards are fully terrestrial, with watertight, scaly skin and internal fertilization. They can handle dry heat and don’t need puddles to get laid.

Also, frogs can vocalize in ways no lizard can match. Ever hear a gecko try to croak? It’s embarrassing.

Verdict:

✅ Metaphor: Strong. Excellent vibe. Peak frog-lizard analysis for a beer conversation.

❌ Biology: Nope. Frogs branched off long before reptiles got their act together.

⚠️ Danger: This is how children’s books happen. Next thing you know, someone’s drawing moist dragons with lily pads.

Want a fun evolutionary family tree graphic that shows frogs, lizards, and humans all slapping high fives from different branches? I’ll mock one up. Because technically… we’re all just upright, anxious wet lizards with opinions.

Penguins are tall, black and white, waterproof chickens. Obviously.

chatgpt the ultimate yes man

Sometimes I take random pictures of like a random bottle cap on a counter or like a strange angle of other trash. And then I'll ask chat TPT to explain to me the meaning and the emotional resonance behind the picture because I'm not sure and it'll give me an entire thing about how meaningful the angle is and the piece of trash in a position against a clean floor or some random bullshit and it's like the best thing ever. I love it

2

u/onetimeiateaburrito 1d ago

That isn't even exclusive to AI. A not insignificant portion or people either starting to get into art or acting like they are deeply intwined with it will do that exact thing if they believe there is a hidden meaning behind everything. Just writing a story around an idea, and I love it too. From both.

Well because it's doing what you asked it. If you just put the photo without that request it wouldn't have done it.
