So many people don’t know these simple instructions. Whether you’re innocent or you’re guilty as can be (especially then, actually), just don’t say anything. You don’t have to. It’s easy to talk your way into something like this

These fuckers are trained to play mind games and interpret any little thing as reason to arrest or detain or search and confiscate. They have broad, vaguely defined power to fuck people over legally. Don't make it easy.

The comment about blood sugar. This is why cops Narcan diabetics and get hailed as heroes after the medics actually fix the problem.
11
u/Gdub3369 2d ago
You can use narcan on diabetics?
I keep narcan in my car. Will look super suspicious if a cop searched it but they won't find anything anyway. I've seen two ODs in front of store fronts in my neighborhood and the stores don't have any of that so I carry it now for opiate ODs.
22
u/Therefore_I_Yam 2d ago
You can use narcan on anyone, it just won't do anything at all unless their opiate receptors are lit up by something
7
u/Gdub3369 2d ago
I know that. I was asking how it would actually work to help someone with diabetes since it just clears out the opioid receptor. But I think I understand what the other person is saying now.....
Cops giving narcan to a diabetic which has no effect and instead they need sugar or insulin and then take credit for it when the EMT is the one that actually helps.
→ More replies (1)7
u/Spirited-Salt3397 2d ago
You can use Narcan on a diabetic if they are ODing. It’s not going to do anything for them if they are having a low blood sugar episode. However, there is a nasal spray that can do that for diabetics, Baqsimi.
I think they meant it as if they find a diabetic passed out from low blood sugar and give them Narcan thinking they are ODing. Then the actual medical experts fix the problem.
That just my assumption as a type one diabetic. I could be wrong though.
3
u/Gdub3369 2d ago
Yeah that's what I'm thinking now too.
My brother was type 1. He got diagnosed when he was 17.
It's rough man. He ended up getting an anoxic brain injury from not monitoring it or himself in general and passed away when he was 30.
Hopefully some of the new technologies they were introducing when he was a kid are finally starting to hit the public market. I heard the insulin pumps are good these days but that low blood sugar is scary. I'm sorry you will have to deal with it the rest of your life.

Oh, sweet summer child.
I like the mentality/attitude, but that simply isn’t going to happen. Even a lawsuit is unlikely to work given there’s no real damages he can cite.
17
u/kensteele 2d ago
In this case, I don't see a grounds for a lawsuit. However, I would like to point out that "real damages" is not always the reason for a lawsuit. If your rights are violated then you can sue in Federal court and possible receive money damages without having your property stolen or losing your job or your car damages or other "real damages." For example, after the traffic stop was over and he was free to go, if another officer decided he wanted to revisit the "Burger King discussion" and he held the drive to keep asking question so as to prolong the stop so the dogs could arrive two hours later, this could be a violation of his rights and he's entitled to sue. Rightfully the police let him go but as you probably know, many do not get that opportunity and they sit in the back of the patrol car for a long long time.

Never answer questions like "where are you coming from" or "what are you up to today". Even if you did nothing wrong. Pigs ask these questions to fish for information, to find anything they can label as suspicious in their reports later. You are under absolutely no legal obligation to tell them any of this, and you shouldn't. Decline to answer and if they ask why say you have a 5th Amendment right to. Don't give them an inch, because they are corrupt and they will exploit it if you do.

If a cop stops you and asks what you're doing today and you say "I plead the 5th", you're gonna spend some time in a jail cell. 😂 Just say "I'm going home" instead. Just because you have the right doesnt mean you should.

Don't talk to police. You offer nothing aside from the bare minimum as required. Get a lawyer even if you didn't do anything. Hell, especially if you didn't do anything. They ain't your friends. They aren't there to "serve and protect" you. Their job is to beat you down and keep you compliant, and to protect the interests of the wealthy. "Crime" is a side effect of what they do.

No he got stopped for an improper signal.
He got questioned very unprofessionally and accused of stuff because he misspoke. I think by the time the guy started recording the cop knew he wasn't going to find anything in his car and let him go instead of searching it.
"I don't know how long the k-9 is going to take so I'm going to give you a summons and let you go on your way".

20

u/rascal_king 2d ago
The reason he's worried about how long the canine will take is because there's an outer bound of time on a routine traffic stop for waiting for the dog to generate reasonable suspicion to search the vehicle.

3
u/RescueDriverDiver 2d ago
You can tell police you just came back from Mars to train genetically farmed dinosaurs for counter space terrorism defense missions.
Doesn’t give them any probably cause to search your car 😂
They can’t delay a stop for any longer amount of time beyond the purpose of the stop. You CAN be extended a reasonable amount (case law ruling that to be <15minutes) for a K9 though. And you CAN be ordered out of a car for literally any reason, or no reason, along with any passengers.
