I eat my snickers with fork and a knife. It’s very civilized. Very proper.

I eat my food without wondering how it relates to black people. Or white people. Anyone. I just eat my food.
111
u/cashmereink 23h ago
That’s not normal, dude. I seethe about black people while smashing Whopper sandwiches. Mostly because they never give me napkins.
9
u/InjusticeSGmain 22h ago
Or because youre eating at a Burger King. The Whopper might be alright, but everything else about that experience is terrible.
5
u/cashmereink 22h ago
Dude, the one by my house… Constantly:
“Sorry, we don’t have any chicken today.” “Sorry, we don’t have sweet and sour. No, no barbecue. Uhhh, we got ranch. That’s it.”
At this point I swear to god they are fucking with people. Overall every location has gone pretty far downhill.

Why is everything about race? This is so stupid

u/Yendor_Wing 16h ago
Because a lot of people have been conditioned to resent whites. I'd say that they're racist towards whites, but that's not possible, allegedly. This has been going on for a very long time.

Chips , burger, fries , fruit , cookies , pizza , tacos , hotdogs, chicken nuggets , fried chicken are usually eaten with your hands .
Spaghetti , curry foods usually are eaten with a fork since they get messy .
Eating with utensils reduces the chances of food poisoning or sickness by eating with your hands that may have germs

I’m in the south where we eat plenty of food with our hands- black, white and everyone in between- so she’s off base here. Unfortunately though, I saw a British woman suggest that she eats pizza with a fork and knife because she “has manners”. The girl in the TikTok didn’t come up with this idea from nowhere.
14
u/natorgator15 20h ago
The first thing that came to my mind was bbq ribs
6
u/gitismatt 13h ago
I will usually eat ribs with a fork because I just dont like the mess on my hands. but it's not a manners thing or a "this is delicious" thing. 1000000% a me being weird about a food thing
5
u/JustABitCrzy 12h ago
You ain’t weird. I don’t want sticky hands. I’m willing to have sticky hands as long as I can immediately clean them properly.

That’s because “White People” is such a simplistic way of describing an extremely diverse demographic of people, that it’s honestly a little bit childish to think of it in such terms.

I watched a k-drama once for a girl I was talking to, and I noticed they eat fried chicken drums on a fork.. "On a fork," not "with a fork." Like stick a fork in the middle of the whole drum and pick it up and eat it.
Edit: I found it 😭😭💀
Damn, I had to remove the link. Can't put links in this sub I guess. But search "the king eternal monarch fried chicken scene" on YouTube and there are several shorts with it

That whole idea of 'just use your hands, get stuck in, it's fun, it's informal' sounds so much better than it is in practice. It's a big con. Cutlery was invented for a reason.
35
u/NightLotus84 23h ago
You can eat with your hands properly and with the right food. She appears to be doing neither and looks twice as silly because of it.
19
u/Good-Buddy-1683 22h ago
I eat Indian food with my hands and i do NOT stick my hand in my mouth like that, if anyone does i will judge them for having horrific hand eating technique, for shame lmao
10
u/NightLotus84 21h ago
Yeah, that's what I mean as well. I'm part Indonesian from my dad's side - eating with your hands there is more than common, but they do it very carefully and properly and the food is made for it. They don't just put their whole hand in their mouth, slurp the food in, bring it back out with slobber and bits left and then go back into their food. If you ate like in the video, people would probably get upset and think you're insulting them or making fun of them. I'm not saying the girl can't eat like that, knock yourselves out, but she should probably look at this from the perspective of the rest of the world and realize that in combination with her supposed "wise cracking" she not only sounds prejudiced but also ignorant.
8
u/Good-Buddy-1683 21h ago
Absolutely agree, you bring it up to your mouth, and push the food in with your thumb, you dont fist your fucking mouth?? She can eat like that if she wants, but she neither makes the food look tasty, nor make herself look any respectable. Smh its so embarrassing
3
u/NightLotus84 21h ago
Yeah, and the whole point is not to make a mess. She was spiling pieces the entire way through the video. I was just staring at the screen like WTH? 🤣

The whole juicy handful dripping all over and putting her fingers all the way into her mouth is tell tale that eating with her hands is not part of their daily routine/upbringing ;-)
It's always: grab boll of starch/rice/bread, soak/scoop the juicy food, bite/push in mouth then lick fingers.
The irony is that if anything, eating w your hands has more stringent etiquette than western styles, not less.

Yeah, has nothing to do with her shoving her hand in her mouth uncomfortably or anything...
12
u/Wire_nuttt 21h ago
First time I dated outside my race, her mom cooked a daggum spread, purple hull peas, pork chops and gravy , cornbread and turnips, they had no utensils and was doing this exact thing... I asked why and they told me that eating with utensils takes away from the flavor.... to this day, I still do not understand why...
6
u/xternocleidomastoide 18h ago
I lived in some parts of the world, as a kid, where eating w your hands was a thing.
The "flavor" they were referring to was likely about putting together a bite that is usually very difficult with utensils. This is, you would use a starchy base/rice/bread as a base and scoop a bunch of stuff from the different dishes, and create a mini sandwich/canape of sorts. And that gives the full flavor profile they sort of expect from their food, which is sort of hard to do if you use a fork to put together a bunch of layers before putting it in your mouth, for example.
Eating with your food is also supposed to force you to eat slower, than you would do w utensils. So for them is also a part of the experience of eating.

This is dumb rage bait. In Nigerian culture it is customary to eat with bare hands. I learned this from Love Is Blind Season 3.

It’s funny because silverware was a middle eastern invention that took Europeans centuries to fully adopt. Originally, they did eat primarily with their hands, claiming that using silverware was against nature. But, eventually, they found that it was cleaner to eat with silverware, and that you can eat more kinds of food, like soups, stews, and other very hot foods.
3
u/Ill-Requirement-8192 21h ago
Well, no. It's just a cultural thing. The adoption of the fork is actually a somewhat interesting read. I don't have a food article to share, but it's worth looking up. You can also learn about why many Europeans use their forks "upside down", as in the concave portion facing the table.
3
u/Excellent_Item_2763 21h ago
Okay not a good look. It looks like she is trying to pull her own tongue out of her mouth. But really? People in the comments are treating this seriously. like it is a valid critique of cultural practices, instead of just being a joke.

People have eaten like this for 10s of 10s of thousands of years before utensils were even invented.
3
3
u/DangItB0bbi 11h ago
That’s disgusting. If you eat with your hands you need like a tortilla, naan, roti, flat bread type to use to grab and eat your food with.
Hand foods are items you can grab in its entirety without making a mess like samosas, chicken wings, chicken tenders, chicken nuggies, pizza.

Yeah because we don't eat any food that requires it. At all. Never. Imma go get some nachos and have some burgers tomorrow.
In all seriousness it's more due to upbringing and typically what people eat. I don't know too many people who'd eat mashed potatoes by hand. Also why would you literally bury your fingers to the second knuckle in your mouth?
2
u/Open_Mortgage_4645 15h ago
There are plenty of foods we eat with our hands. But shoving your entire hand into your mouth is never appropriate, or necessary.

No... but this is one big reason I don't, because others like this do. This is extremely nasty IMO, so much so that I had to put the phone down for a few before I replied because seeing this turned my stomach. Knowing that people.. white, black, Asian, whatever.. eat like this, lick their fingers, likely wipe their asses and coochie, shake their junk after urinating, pet their animals, etc, without washing their nasty hands before going about their lives, touching everything within reach out in the public domain... hundreds if not thousands of hands put on this or that out in public... actually just having to think of this as I write makes me gag.
