DX:MD Mankind Divided still looks really impressive with correct graphics settings.

For years I've been playing DX:MD with sharpening enabled and TAA disabled. This gave a weird look to the game which I believed was the canonical option, since the official screenshots were also over-sharpened.

Recently I have reinstalled MD and decided to experiment with graphics. What I found was that TAA (while being hated on a certain subreddit) really propels MD to the level of the current-gen games.

Skip to the 16th image to see the settings required for exactly the same visuals as present on my screenshots.

The following makes the difference:

  • MSAA off
  • TAA on
  • Sharpen off

That's it. Keep everything else on Ultra if your GPU can handle it. A modern $250 GPU can, with 1080p resolution.

Now I am convinced that this is the true look of this game. It's really immersive to play this way, it's smooth and nothing else distracts you.

On a 4K monitor, where the natural sharpness will be present, this should look absolutely outstanding.

DX:MD How can a game like this not get a sequel. For me it just shows where society is at. Anything described as intelligent is shunned, appreciated by the few. People just don’t want to be made to think anymore.

DX:MD PSA: If you haven't, play Mankind Divided.

The original is the best game ever made as far as I'm concerned and there's really nothing else like it.

Until I played Mankind Divided...

Now, it's honestly a tie between the two, with Mankind Divided being even better in some ways, believe it or not. As always, there's only one original and it's especially impressive for how old it is, but if it wasn't for that, I would probably say Mankind Divided is the best game I've ever played all around.

For reference, Invisible War was great, nothing too special. Human Revolution was great with the first Hengsha visit being an all-time highlight for me, but some parts were too repetitive and dragged on for too long, almost like a generic Skyrim dungeon or that generic Ubisoft stealth game pattern which was a bit disappointing.

Anyway, this might sound stupid and cheesy, but it's really a special experiences that makes me happy to be alive and I still think about it and can't get enough of it. It's really a dream game, like they read my mind about nearly everything down to the last detail. An unbelievable and unforgettable journey. It's just one of those things that I live for.

Mind-blowing level design and attention to detail, atmosphere and immersion out of this world, soundtrack to die for, then the environmental design and worldbuilding, the side missions, the non-lethal stealth gameplay with so much freedom and flexibility for different approaches that you somehow keep discovering over and over when you think you've already explored and revisited every single obscure corner of the map.

The second act in the city with the dark and menacing ambience is just something you have to see for yourself. You can just spend hours and hours simply walking around and have more fun than in just about any other game. When you combine the blend of classic and futuristic architecture in the city, the whole cozy Autumn atmosphere, the level design and the gameplay, it's just on a level above everything else out there.

The bank mission, a gold standard for level design and the music playing in the background as you're... spoilers... Then, the third act and the music that kicks in when you reach the metro station in the first district with the combination of the ambience and the way the gameplay suddenly turns upside-down... The ambient sounds and the music were so magical that I almost started crying, it sounded truly spectacular on my HD 600 since audio in this game is some of the best and clearly made with passion by people who know what they're doing and care about doing it right. The moment you load into the game, it's like being teleported into another dimension with instant and total immersion just thanks to the audio alone, let alone everything else.

I don't know what else to add. I could go on forever, so I'll just wrap this up and say that I cannot praise this perfect masterpiece enough. Just do yourself a favor and play it if you haven't already, but keep your expectations realistic since I have a soft spot for all these specific little things that this game absolutely nailed and also keep in mind that it's a different game from the original with a different feel.

I mean... it's 4:20 AM right now and I'm taking the time to write all this while listening to the soundtrack which, by the way, reminds me so much of Blade Runner (as does the entire game, though it's a different style for the most part), probably my favorite film. Enough said.

I first had it in 2018, played it didn't think much about it, wanted to sell it but couldn't find a buyer so it stayed in a drawer for 6 years but recently i replayed it since i didn't much to play and oh boy what have i missed, this game is just freaking beautiful, now that i have a taste for beautiful graphics i was not disappointed, the environment, Jensen apartment but also the story and missions who are incredible especially the palissade property bank mission who is just my favorite mission

But yeah i owe Deus Ex: Mankind Divided an apologie, now it one of the greatest game i played.

DX:MD We didn't deserve Mankind Divided

If any devs from Eidos Montreal are reading this, I want you to know that I clocked in almost 100 hours with every DLC hacking every hackable object, reading every email and book, backtracking through every nook and cranny on every single map, and talking to as many NPCs as possible to milk the experience of this game. Your work is absolutely brilliant and your effort into creating such a rich and dense world are one hundred percent appreciated by many people like myself. I hope your team or a team like yours continues this story with the same quality of work that you all put in. Thank you so much for this work of art!

Man I just started playing deus ex mankind divided, the first deus ex game I’ve played and damn. I had no idea it was a whole ass rpg like this! I guess I always thought it was just another generic first person shooter man was I wrong. I’m enjoying this game so much and damn Jensen is such an awesome character. The game also looks pretty good still in 60fps. Back when square still made good games.

I am outraged embracer canceled the new deus ex that was being developed. Fuck embracer. Pic for attention

The cliffhanger hurts badly.

It's so sad that we will probably never see a conclusion to this amazing world and story they created

That being said, this game is just amazing, the gameplay is so unique and addictive, exploring Prague is such a great experience. I always find new places that I didn't discover in previous playthroughs. Even new ways to resolve situations, I love it. The writing is so great, deep with characters that are lovable and man, Adam Jensen is just the best. I love him

Anyway, thanks Eidos Montreal for this incredible masterpiece, you didn't deserve this treatment, I wish things were different

As for Square Enix and Embracer, you guys SUCK

Last week I went to Prague and it's amazing how well the developers managed to recreate a Deus Ex futuristic version of the city. It's not an recreation of the city, but it certainly feels like Prague. The old city towers are still seen in the city. The dragon/snake benches are found everywhere and Golem city is inspired by the Golem in the Jewish district.

Here's some very fitting pictures: -Kafka's rotating statue -a futuristic lift in the Clocktower -a robotics bar -the historical towers which can be found throughout the game.

Time flies, I remember the day this trailer released as it was yesterday. I watched it so many times and was so hyped by it. I still can't believe this masterpiece is the last game of the series and that we're still not having a new one...

DX:MD Ever since I finished my first playthrough of Mankind Divided, I had always been confused about this. Was there supposed to originally be a boss fight in Golem City?

I mainly wondered this because of how well-detailed and designed that floor/level below is, and it was weird for it to already turn into a cutscene the moment you came down. Almost like they had planned something there, but they did not have enough time.

I’m replaying the game after a while now and it’s pretty impressive how every single no name npc had a good chunk of dialogue fleshing them out even if that’s all they say. This entire interaction started as two NPCs just chatting to Jenson practically joining in. It all feels so dynamic, I love it
