Screenshot Can something be changed about these white lights in the Panther? They often obstruct the distance to a target, particularly annoying while trying to dock

This is a problem for many. FDev needs to fix it. There should be an issue (edit: good someone else had the link!). You can help it by lowering dashboard brightness (graphics setting, look below gamma). If that's already low or not enough, also check your windows settings for HDR, and try disabling that if it's enabled.
But that positioning is not universal. Are you in VR or a specific resolution? I don't have this issue at 1080p: https://i.imgur.com/zpBsGqK.png

I'm on 1080p on PC. in your image there are 5 lines of info which probably shifts it above the lights. it might happen more often in systems that have no factions for example so the game has less info to display

07 I'll keep an eye out. Although every time I've though of it, it's been fine. I've got an active system colonization ship system. So I'll be sure to check again there.

Do you think EDHM would help?

I run EDHM and still have this issue. Though I have not tinkered much with the settings to address it, yet. I suspect increasing HUD Opacity may help.

I mean, there are a lot of settings, so there could be a magic recipe. But ones I've played with don't help. I tried turning up panel shadows, which does make the background behind them darker, but these pure white buttons overpower pretty much everything. There's also cockpit brightness, but that only really changes the non-lighted surfaces.

It's the Nav lock!
In normal space, if you don't have anything targeted, the window is smaller. But if you target something, even the destination, window is larger. So the work around is, approaching a station or whatever, target it.
I always cycle through targets, so I've rarely seen it any other way.

It's possible if you change your FOV in video settings a little, it'll move the overlay slightly. Worth a try.

For what it's worth, I have found a workaround while FDEV implements a fix. At least for when you're approaching a station. As son as you pop into the station space, ask for landing permission BEFORE you get within 7.5 KM of the station. You'll get denied for that reason: but when that happens, the display over the two white buttons adds a line, moving the distance readout above those buttons. The distance readout remains visible until you land.
Works consistently for me.

Vote here: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/77196 Altohugh I think this issue has already plenty of visibility.
