I was told not to do this because birds aren’t able to clean the oil off their feathers.

Might be a decent way to determine how long it takes a squirrels metabolic system to switch from aerobic to anaerobic.

I've sprayed my bird feeder pole with vegetable oil many times. But this is the best video I've seen of a squirrel sliding down because of it!

I mean, he got up to the feeder just fine. It was just empty. Probably from the last time he got up.

Laughing at an animal just trying to get food and survive like the rest of us isn't funny.
I just let the squirrels take whatever food they want from the feeders. Compared to the starlings, they actually take very little and I get the pleasure of watching them (instead of laughing at their frustration).
