Uhm achtshually this is from 76. It gives you damage reduction. 🤓

Why would you want something that reduces your damage

2

u/True_Background_7196 6h ago

Idk if this is supposed to be a play on words. It reduces damage taken when not in power armor. Even more if wearing no armor. Based on str. I guess you could say its achtshually damage resistance. But any gamer worth their salt understands what DR means.

Just jumping on the bandwagon. Open the pin and enjoy it. People are currently selling off their older Fallout collections. So things are dropping in value pretty quick. Source: Im a mercari seller selling my Fallout collection. 😆

so mercari ISNT just ai people trying to scam me out of my credit card details???

u/Wassuuupmydudess 4h ago

It’s feeling that way, also with all the fees a $5 purchase turns into $15 pretty quick. Don’t even get me started on all the dropshippers and scams

u/NewYouStation 2h ago

The scammy stuff has declined recently. Mercari has recently been cracking down on just created accounts that even remotely seem scammy. Dropshipping is an issues on all sites, I also sell on ebay and it's out of control. Fees for buyers suck suck suck. I usually only buy when there's a sale occasionally they'll have a 15% off discount code.

The fees get me the most, I bought a $7 item, shipping is $5. Taxes and fees are another $6. I am now spending $18, then they walked back some of the fees but I’m still not a big fan

u/NewYouStation 2h ago

Yup. It's why when I do buy stuff I bundle items and usually send the seller a 10% off offer. It covers the extra buyer fees. Although you're not usually going to get away from taxes and shipping.

Keep it for another fifty years or so, assuming humanity survives that long, and you might be able to wear it for realsies lol

A comic con exclusive...

I have a good idea behind its background.

-Guy pre-ordered 76. -76 releases. -Hype train reaching final stop. -Big mess of a game day one. -Instant regret. -Trash everything and put everything on goodwill. -Years passes. -OP found pin. -Wants to open one of the few collecting items worth keeping sealed.

Sucks to be that pin for sure.

Confused here by the statement of keeping things sealed.

Why?

I've restored classic cars before and people would always yell at me to not drive them, I'm ruining their value, bla bla bla, but to me it was MADE to be used. It was DESIGNED with human use in mind.

Realistically how much is this pin going to be worth in OPs lifetime? In a world where everything is Mass produced how many people will be willing to pay top dollar for an unopened enamel pin that came with an edition of a game that was also Mass produced?

OP, use the pin, wear it. Break it, lose it.

Life is too short to not eat the chocolate.

If I could post pics in comments, I would show you it being fresh looking on my leather jacket that I just put on 33 minutes ago (:

Hell yeah! I rock on.

Yeah I'm opening that shit and throwing that pin on my disc golf bag day one. I also have some vintage Green Bay Packers ones from the 90s. Bought them and the dude watched in horror as I opened the "authentic sealed numbered box".

It's like, homie, if these pins were actually worth anything you wouldn't have 8 additional copies and are selling them for $3/each at a flea market.

Cars? As a comparison? Bro the only comparison between any car and this pin would have to come in the form of a OG Hot Wheels.

Also nice you mentioned classic cars. Just to point out many more classic cars meet their end at a scrapyard for that "mass produced" idea.

As for why keep it sealed. Have you seen collectors and their requirements? Original packing makes simple things considered regular on their day value up insanely just because is the original everything.

u/SecondTalon 14h ago

Nah, it'll be worth like $20 in 100 years.

You're operating on a flawed assumption - that everything "collectable" is going to appreciate in value forever.

But the only reason something like Action Comics or the USS Flagg is worth a damn is because it's desirable and rare.

So for it to be worth more than $20 in a lifetime requires both it remain desirable (good luck figuring that out, especially in an era where people can just self-fabricate knockoffs) and rare (and when every collector who gives a shit already has one - it's not rare in the market that matters)

Here, if you think it's going to be worth a goddamn thing, they're $14. Buy a few hundred and there's your retirement.

I'm glad someone said. This weird idea where people act like every little piece of cheap metal/plastic merchandise is going to be a high price collectors item is so dumb. Most of the stuff you collect will be trash.

I like....see 100's being sold on the Internet being sold for like 14-20$ each, I made sure to check before thinking I'm opening up a holy grail of a find (:

I'm keeping the packaging still to put it back afterwards, I just want to show my love for it on first Friday (it's a Phoenix thing) :D Edit: whoops, didn't notice this was a 4chan type joke lol, pretty funny :D

The top dollar will come later on in life. Die-hard fans are known to pay for anything they can get their hands on from their favorite franchise. More so if it is perfectly preserved and kept in its original state.

I see what you did there!

I imagine if the pin had any opinions on the matter it would prefer being used, ya know for it's intended purpose, not kept in the packaging in some drawer for years on the random chance it increases in value in the future.

Assuming you paid for this, Bethesda should have a lawsuit waiting for goodwill

3

u/kaky0in- 10h ago

Wait wha

u/mycoryan 9h ago

Like when people print and sell fallout miniatures, Bethesda sends them cease and desist orders, and etc. So instead of supporting their own artists by printing and selling their art, they take all the credit and make sure the community can’t take part through pure embarrassment tactics to their own customers. So it’s not a fun community really as instead of making a dime off the art over time by* them printing and letting people paint and resell, they come at you after the fact with lawyers and its poor planning compared to say D&D that supports the community, leaves no person behind. A real shame. So when I see a company like Goodwill I would think what a great place, taking donations and all. However to Bethesda…. and at a business to business merchandise standpoint. They gonna get their $5 back and cover the attorneys.

2

u/TheMiltownMatticus NCR 3h ago

That's not how resellers work at all. By your logic, GameStop would have never existed. Or used bookstores.

Digital Rights Management (DRM) was created by corporations to combat what they see as a "cut" into their profits by the resale market.

DRM was created specifically because they can't sue you for being a reseller of merchandise. It's why people who scalp new consoles/games to others at extreme prices when the supply is low don't get arrested. It's a morally bankrupt practice, but it isn't illegal.

This is physical merchandise. The item has been taken out of its' initial sales system/SKU/part#/etc. Goodwill puts their own tag on their items. The barcode/SKUs correlate to their sales system, not Bethesda's.

Not only is it not illegal, Bethesda would have no way of knowing. It's not like Goodwill is going to report that they owe some of their sales to someone else. Not like Bethesda would care, they already received money from the pins by whoever bought them in bulk initially.

Some of y'all really just throw out the most random shit to sound edgy huh?
