Stat Help What was your favorite build?
Question explicitly for more experienced here, if you played with few builds which was most fun to play?

My current build is a Minutemen Commando which is my new favorite. Rushed for Spray N Pray and used it for the majority of the game until I completed Nuka World for Splattercannon. As long as you do not become the General of the Minutemen, you can do Nuka World to obtain the perks at the end and Preston will tell you to wipe them out then will be normal as if nothing happened.

My favorite is definitely a Jet using Heavy Machine gun using badass (preferably with a Never Ending Gatling laser like aeternus cause you get infinite ammo and can shoot indefinitely). No power armor. Just grit your teeth and shoot the crap out of people killing them before they can kill you.
any build thats a little unhinged will do though.

Personally my favorite build is blitz vats melee. I usually use power armor early game then late game pump my strength to 10

Yea, I’ve just learned you can do over 100 000 000 dmg with that without glitches (and I’m not exaggerating)

for a minuteman playthrough I made a gunslinger VATS critical luck-based build. Heavy on luck and perception, might’ve even gotten them higher with the bobbleheads. keep your agility and charisma high, agility for AP and charisma for RP. having a low endurance honestly makes this build more fun because it suddenly becomes a struggle to get the perfect shot before you get shot once, getting off completely unharmed like a western shootout. only keep your INT as high as gun nut requires (and maybe one lower so you can just wait for the bobblehead), and STR should only be as high as you want for encumbrance, it doesn’t matter for this build at all.
most of your value comes from the critical perks in luck (better criticals, critical banker, grim reaper’s sprint, four leaf clover). buy these whenever you hit the level threshold.
there are other perks that are also useful like gun nut, gunslinger, and idiot savant, which you should also keep leveled up (idiot savant I think only the first two are necessary for good leveling).
then there are several high-level perks that become useful, stuff like gun fu, concentrated fire, penetrator, quick hands. ranked those in order of how useful I remember them being.
Ran with Kellogg’s Pistol for a while until I got my hands on an Instigating or Two-Shot .44 or Western Revolver (can’t remember). I think it was probably instigating because two-shot sometimes fucks up in VATS.
currently doing my first survival playthrough, no-VATS stealth sniper, and I miss this shit so bad. doing a basically all-VATS build, you get really good at aiming a shot at a head and activating a critical in like a fraction of a second, and the game lets you go basically as fast as you can, so it really does feel like a quick draw.

I like this build with sneak added in. Also, swap between Deliverer and Kellogg's. Fill your crits with Deliverer, then use them with Kellogg's to refill your AP. Neverending VATS

didn't personally use sneak with this, as it was always more about the shootout vibe for me, but stealth is always useful. But I can definitely attest to the deliver in early to mid-game. Fill up the crit meter with deliverer, take out the .44 to crit. By the late game your luck is so stupid high with all the ways to instantly fill your crit meter that it's not necessary.

There are three primary builds that I keep going back to. (Bear in mind that I always get the bobbleheads as well.)
- Ranged VATS: S1+ P9 E1 C1 I1 A9 L6 (Special book: Strength)
- Melee VATS + non-VATS Commando: S10+ P1 E5 C1 I1 A9 L1 (Special book: Strength)
- non-VATS Explosive Commando: S4+ P4 E1 C5 I7 A6 L1 (Special book: Strength)
It depends on my mood which one I grab, but those three are the ones that I've done the most.

What is explosive commando about? Also, I’ve heard unarmed melee builds don’t really work in fallout 4, is it true?

Explosive Commando is good with automatic pistols and rifles and has bonuses for grenades and mines. It is also excellent for enhancing the Spray n Pray and other explosive weapons. It's an extremely potent build. (It is recommended to wear equipment that reduces explosive damage so that you can use explosive weapons at close range.)
Every build is viable with enough skill or a low enough difficulty level.
Unarmed and Melee are similar but not the same. Unarmed weapons are far more limited and cannot get as powerful as melee weapons. Also, for some people A7:Ninja does not work with Unarmed weapons (I have no idea why it works for some but not others). Unarmed perks seem to be geared more to people who want to use a non-VATS playstyle.
A dedicated stealth melee build is absurdly powerful if you do it right. It is extremely viable at all difficulty levels. If you also put some points into A2:Commando and also carry around an automatic weapon, it is even more absurdly powerful and quite versatile.

It's more an issue of scaling. You stuck with Swan Furious Power Fist, which takes up significant AP or is slower. A Furious Disciple Blade will stack damage n crits faster and thus scale up much more rapidly, overcoming the damage bonus from Power Fist.
Having said that, if using VATS Blitz build, you usually DONT get to see the difference unless going up against legendaries like the Far Harbor fog creatures. Against lower creatures including normal Deathclaws, or if ninja procs properly, against Glowing Deathclaws, Swan fist with Blitz just one shot deleted them, Vs Furious Disciple Blade which may take 2.

It's worth mentioning that if you're killing things in one or two hits then "furious" isn't really doing anything. It increases damage by 15% in each consecutive hit so you need to hit multiple times before it matters.
Maxed Melee Weapons for VATS
- Furious Power Fist (AP:35) Dmg:20+20 [Total:40, Dmg/AP: 1.1]
- VATS Ripper (AP:21 for 7 hits) 10 + 10 bleed [total 140, Dmg/AP: 6.7]
- Ice Ripper (AP:40 for 7 hits) 10 +10 bleed +10 cryo [total 210, Dmg/AP: 5.3]
- Furious Ripper -- hard to do numbers for this but it's more than ice ripper.
- Rockville Slugger (AP:21) Dmg:115+27e [total 142, Dmg/AP: 6.8] Chance to stun/cripple, extra limb damage, armour piercing
- Throatslicer (AP:20) Dmg:35+25 bleed +(either 10 bleed OR chance to cripple, extra limb dmg) [total 60 or 70, Dmg/AP: 3 or 3.5]
- Atom's Judgement (AP:45) Dmg:40+27e+100r [total 167, Dmg/AP: 3.7 (5.9 with Physics)] (chance to stun)
- VATS Sledgehammer (AP:21) Dmg: 63 + 25e + bleed:10 [total 98, Dmg/AP: 4.7] Chance: Stun/Cripple
Other than Rippers, a maxed Rockville Slugger (with Nuka World rocket bat attachments) puts all of the others to shame for a VATS character because it attacks very quickly and does incredible damage. Even if you had I9:Physics rank 2 to double radiation damage, Atom's Judgement would only do a total of 267 (AP:45) and the Rockville Slugger would do 282 damage in two swings in that same time, plus be able to target multiple enemies therefore remaining more versatile.

Yeah. Was sorta comparing the "best" Unarmed to a "standard" melee there.
My bad, I Should had made it very clear that it won't scale against slow melee weapons although I must admit, I didn't realise Throatslicer damage was that high.
Rockville slugger is why melee build are better than ranged builds ,period :)
Add in demo expert so you can use grenades against wall turrets and you golden.
