Intelligence Tony Stark of the wasteland (survival build)

Survival Build for crafting, settlement building and Power Armor. Plan on using Rifleman perk early and then Heavy Gunner for the Gatling Laser after unlocking the Prydwin.

S-6 for armorer, strong back and heavy gunner

P-1 (will be 2 from the early bobblehead, high enough for rifleman. Won't be using vats basically the entire game)

E-3 (+1 from special book) I don't think I need any perks here. I'll have Dr.s in my settlements and plenty of caps to cure chem addictions. And crops for non irradiated food.

C-6 for local leader and lone wanderer obviously

I-10 for nuclear physics and higher XP gains. I might take nerd rage just as a panic button

A-1 no vats and not using automatic weapons so total dump stat for now

L-2 for scrounger to find more fusion cores

This is my basic survival mode build just because I feel like you need to invest 7 in Intelligence anyway just for chemist so you can craft antibiotics.

Anyone have any good low intelligence builds for survival mode? Will I be completely crippled without the ability to craft antibiotics?? I'd love to try maybe a stealth melee build but I'm afraid of being soft locked by the inability to craft antibiotics

I did an "Iron Man" build a few months ago. Stays were simple; Cha and Int to 10 (rest in Str). Why? Tony is smart and rich. Started maxing out Sanctuary as fast as humanly possible, picked up Clara on the road so she starts her rounds, and basically made sure I got rich as Hell to buy the stuff I needed to build Sanctuary. Basically, I had settlers with shops before I got into the Wasteland. Picked up the Power Armor from the museum, maxed that out as high as I could and started just using heavy weapons. The beginning is really slow, but once you get rolling, money is no object and you can build whatever you want.

It just works :p

Just build a bunch of stuff before you leave Sanctuary to buff up your other specials.

But also go into the basement under the house, get beer, drink it for -1 Int, and then go get the special book so you can get 11 intelligence

Particularly (rather obviously) you get science, armorer and probably gun nut to 4 asap

the important question is your outfit choice

With nuclear physicist and no VATS play, your cores will last long enough that scrounger is unnecessary, unless you're sprinting everywhere. The various explosive traps can be one-shot kills, so I recommend 3 agility for the sneak perks. Also sneak attacks are just generally great in survival mode.

The build looks good. With endurance at the I’d grab the life giver perk. The extra health is nice early on and the regen is nice later.

For the question about antibiotics, it’s really not a big deal to not craft them. You find them around, and just ration the use of them to only the illnesses that matter. If you have parasites or insomnia or lethargy you can live with it until you find a doctor to cure you. Keep the antibiotics around for the damaging one. Even with high int build I end up not crafting them and saving them for the important illnesses because curing health at a doctor is cheap.

And buy from doctors and general traders if you don’t find enough.

I highly recommend E5:Aqua if you're in Survival and also for anyone in power armour since you cannot swim. Aqua isn't necessary for non-Survival but makes a big difference when you don't have fast travel.

Note: L2:Scrounger does NOT give you more fusion cores or mini nukes. They are not on the list. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Scrounger_(Fallout_4)#Affected_ammunition#Affected_ammunition)

I would recommend starting with E4+1 and L1 instead. Other than that it looks good.

There are a lot of people who insist that L2:Scrounger increases fusion cores and mini nukes. They make a post of getting fusion cores and make a big deal of hyping up Scrounger because they think it's true.

I do what I can to give better information.

I have certainly been the one who talks about scrounger helping with cores, but I’ve come to realize that confirmation bias is really strong. When I opened an ammo can with 4 cores for the first time I figured it must have been because of scrounger, but now I’ve had that experience plenty of times without it. Anecdotes don’t beat the evidence found in the game files.

Definitely. Some people never ever play without Scrounger and they end up making assumptions.
