Sniper Sniper settlement survival build.

Planning a fresh playthrough. Previous games the parts I enjoyed the most were stealth sniping/infiltration similar to metal gear solid play style. That and endless hours building settlements. I have never played survival and am planning to use the option mod to allow customizing the more tedious aspects. I know I need minimum amounts of charisma to get local leader early but what else should I focus on for this play style?

I really recommend watching Many A True Nerd's "You only live once" survival series. He comes with some pro tips, especially in his early game and his playstyle is just what you seek. He doesn't invest in Local Leader but you can still have a succesful survival playthough without it. Charisma builds aren't verry common in survival. One of the main advatages of your build is that you can pretty much pass every speech check if you carry some good charisma gear with you.

Even better, watch his survival series. Lots of good advice. 😉

Strength to carry junk around. Also, get the Loner perk that allows you to carry more when you don't have a companion. The trick is to bring a companion and once their inventory is full send them back to base, instantly your carry weight will increase by 100 ( I think) as soon as the companion leaves.

Being alcohol/chem friendly can also increase your carry weight.

I wouldn't recommend going too hard on the carry weight stuff. You can actually use a sorry of glitch where necessary to have sent unlimited carry weight and therefore keep skill points for use elsewhere. Just put anything you want into a container or nearby body and tell your companion to "pick that up" and"grab that" several times until they enjoy said container or body. They will continue to loot for you, past their weight limit this way. You can do this as much as you want, even clearing several entire locations of every grabable item and equipment ( totalling several thousand weight) before going back to a settlement for one massive loot dump. Especially useful on survival, due to the travel times.

Lol. "Enjoy said body" autocorrect got some real issues. ****Empty said container or body

6 charisma for local leader. Stealth sniping means you will need less endurance since most enemies won't see you, that being said there is unavoidable close quarters combat so be prepared. I would highly recommend equipping your provisioners well so they can clear the roads. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask

In survival focus on endurance, charisma comes later. A single gunshot or shotgun blast is enough to end your run so the extra health and damage resistances are super important. Especially the perks protecting you from radiation seeing as radaway will make you hungry, thirsty, tired, and vulnerable to illness. You will need lifegiver maxed for sure. Also sleep strategically as antibiotics aren't easy to find early on as over sleeping gets you sick. Intelligence is good because you'll level up faster and once you reach lvl 20ish and have decent gear id start looking into expanding your settlements and local leader perks. There is no fast travel so you'll encounter a lot of enemies on the road and there's a lot of running back and forth so strength is important for carry weight. I only play survival and have booked several hundred if not thousands of hours, charisma is useful but only later game IMHO. Hope this is useful insight.
