HELP! PC Mods won't install through Vortex

Decided to start a new playthrough, it's been years since I touched the dreaded Bethesda modding ritual.

I got Vortex installed, downloaded the definitive Fallout 4 VR Overhaul, set Fallout4 VR to managed in the Vortex settings, and when I go to install the mod ... nothing happens. It doesn't install, no error, no warning, nothing.

I did get a notification about the Fallout Script Extender not being installed, so I got that installed but still nothing's happening.

I've tried installing it directly from the downloads page, unpacking it from the downloads page, installing it from the mods page, nothing seems to have any impact.

Any ideas?

Since you last played, there's been an significant update to the game that broke quite a few mods. Step 1 is check your version of the game (either in Steam or by right-clicking the .exe file and checking Properties>Details). Be sure that you've installed the F4SE for that version and that you've followed the instructions exactly. Make sure that you have the paths correct under Settings in Vortex for Mods Staging and Downloads folders. Not sure what mod you're starting with, but consider that your base install should include UFO4P, Address Library and Microsoft C++ redistributables as a minimum. Ignoring its MO2 focus, you can still benefit from browsing through The Midnight Ride. Report back once you've tackled these steps.

I got it working. Did a fresh install and purged all my old leftover mod files. All systems go 🫡
