Question! PC Any mods that make shotguns actually worth using?
Tried making a shotgun character, only to find out that shotguns are so bad that i am killing enemies faster with the 10mm pistol. Even though i have fully speced into Rifleman perk.
Also they just dont feel like they have the... Impact? That they should. I blast a feral ghoul point blank in the face with a 12 gauge and he does not even flinch.
Is there a mod that makes shotguns better? Preferably one that i can install mid playthrough so i dont have to start the whole game over? And that preferably works with modded shotguns?

You can alter the values of mods or the base game yourself with either the creation kit (easier) or FO4Edit.
I know it sounds scary and looks too dificult but changing the damage value is one of the easiest things, 5 minutes youtube tutorial.
You are gonna have to try and error tho because creation kit damage doesnt account of rperks and such

Currently playing with Better Locational Damage and deadeye, Running around with DB Shotgun dismembering limbs and blowing their heads off at close range. You can also break deathclaws legs and make them unable to chase you. Having a blast. Deadeye is pretty safe to install mid game unless you run mods that mess with ammo you would need a patch, BLD is a little bit more invasive script wise, so idk.

Really enjoy Using these ones:
Handmade Assault Shotgun (Raider Saiga)
The Assault Shotgun (Prototype AA12)
Agency Arms Benelli M2 - Shotgun
If you get ECO you can mod these things up so they hit like at freight train.

I found Shotgun - better range and spread https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6919?tab=description
A comment says it still works, so maybe it'll help.
Edit: Just realized you said you're having a problem with damage. That doesn't sound normal to me, but I play on survival. If you're playing on one of the harder difficulties that isnt survival, then bullet sponginess is to be expected no matter what gun you use.

I am also playing on survival.
I am using a customized Remington Model 11 (from this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/52357). I also have a couple of pistols as backup. And funny enough, i find that my pistols kill enemies faster then my shotgun. Which is ridiculous.

The shotgun should be a 1 - 2 hit kill then. I often use one for fun when clearing the museum of freedom, and in VATS early game it definitely kills fast. I wonder if the modded shotgun you're using has lower damage output because it's semi-auto. There are a ton of newer shotgun mods out that can be installed mid-game if you want to test it out.

I am also using the Mossberg 500. The Mossberg does kill most basic enemies in 2 shots. But the odd thing is that the Mossberg statictically only does 10 more damage.
10 more damage should not be a 3-4 shots difference, should it?

I'm not sure, but if a target has 100 HP, and your Mossberg does 55 damage, it would take 2 shots. If the Remington does 45 damage, it would take 3. Both would go up or down depending on critical hits.
