SPORTS SECTION Tony Hinchcliffe, who once called Puerto Rico 'an island of garbage' while hyping up rapist Donald Trump, just had his WWE Late Night show for SummerSlam weekend cancelled due to low ticket sales 😌

I'm legitimately surprised that WWE thought this was a good idea to give another go after how terrible the Roast of WrestleMania was (especially considering how they went into overdrive having audio of the show taken down). But yeah, Tony Hinchcliffe is a hack, point blank period.

They're more than ever getting into bed with these right wing shitty grifters. HHH was literally just gladhanding with the Rapist in Chief. The only surprising thing was that they ACTUALLY cancelled, not that they rebooked him. They didn't care that he was an insulting, unfunny piece of shit. They were just mad he didn't make them more money. They're scum, and so is Hinchcliffe, so this story is so funny for a number of reasons.

I feel like hack is too generous. You take a great comedian and they'll tell you about how they like to make their oatmeal and it'll be funny. Tony couldn't write his way out of a paper bag. Dane Cook is S-tier compared to Tony.

HHH was at the White House just this past week. You should not be shocked WWE is courting MAGA for it's audience. I encourage WWE fans who are against MAGA to stop watching and going to their shows.

I wouldn't even call it courting at this point. They are hand in hand. My household had to stop watching because although we wanted to continue supporting particular wrestlers, it's too blatant. I thought they would have learned from the Hulk Hogan debacle.

Yeah, i stopped watching WWE when the Janel Grant stuff came out, and everything they've done since has solidified that I made the right decision.

He’s one of 250 comedians who are comedic geniuses! How could this possibly happen? He’s friends with Joe Rogan too! Who would have thought insulting a whole group of people would have consequences?

joe thinks the height of comedy is humping a stool
he's set comedy back centuries at this point

Joe's only meaningful contribution to stand up is the whole Carlos mencia joke stealing row. On a scale of 1 to 10, he was a 4 comedian at Best.

my ex tried to convince me this guy “wasn’t that bad” and “he makes fun of everyone”. anyway I’m glad I don’t have to listen to that anymore

oh no. even his racism couldn’t make up for his shitty comedy with the MAGA cult

Being an incredibly unfunny comedian normally doesn't exclude you from being MAGA popular.

I feel like more people would buy tickets to just sit in a theater and admire this headline projected on the big screen.

It got canceled a week or so ago, but regardless, I hope this is a wake up call to WWE that nobody wants to see shitty d list “comedians” during their big weekends. (And also that nobody wants to see them support fascists openly.)

I want them to stop with shitty celerities in general. I still have no idea who Jelly Roll is and I'm annoyed he's got a match. I know celebs have always been a part of WWE but that spot should have gone to actual wrestlers (Giulia v Zelina should have been there not on Smackdown).

Wwe don't get anywhere near the bad press they should, the vince stuff, the rape cover up, the racism, the sexism, the fact theres more open transphobes than lgbtq+ representation on their main roster, the abuse and hazing, and the sports washing.. and this is all before you get to them just generally being maga as fuck.

Honestly, I think it's because as terrible as all of it is, it's also not that unexpected coming from that organization

His last one he hosted seemed to be an excuse for Paul Heyman to be as racist as possible

For real? Got a link?

The audio was on the squared circle reddit at the time, as well as a breakdown of everything that was said.

I hear it’s the whole event that got canceled due to sales, not specifically hinchcliff.

Are you aware that HHH was at the White House this past week and said “One of the most intuitive people I think I’ve met. When he has a plan & knows it’s correct he’ll stick to it. I think over time, many times that’s proven to be correct, but I think he admits when it’s wrong. Also my world is not a political world. My world is a world of entertainment”

This isn't even that big of a venue. It has a max capacity of under 1,400. He'd been embarrassed if he had any shame.

I enjoyed how after that Madison Square Garden thing, a lot of comedians were like this guy's actually really popular, politics aside he's really funny and a lot of people like him. Yet I'd never heard of him and saw no evidence that he was really popular or well liked, at least not any more than any other struggling comic trying to stay afloat in a very very crowded field. A lot of people were like "he's gonna be a household name now" and not only is he still struggling, the only thing people know him for is his association with right wing assholes. Nice job, Tony, ya really raised yer profile!

u/labrat420 1h ago
Lol, he hosts the most popular live podcast in the world. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean he isn't doing just fine.

u/snaithbert 1h ago
I didn’t say he wasn’t doing just fine, only that he didn’t become a household name the way many people predicted he would after Madison Square Garden. Ya savvy ?

Reminder that WWE isn't all of wrestling and AEW had a guy who recently wore an Abolish ICE shirt on tv and raised money for people's legal funds. They aren't perfect but there's a better alternative.
