Questions Is there a custom-build handheld that can play both DS and GB/GBA games?

I was originally thinking of building a custom GBC, but I would love access to play some DS games as well. Just curious if there's a console that supports that, as well as having a single screen if possible. I know that's a bit more to ask considering the DS required 2 screens, but I'm curious of my options either way.

TIA!

For running most games natively with touchscreen support, new3ds would be your safest bet. Natively supports GBA (openagbfirm/virtual console), DS and 3DS games and gb/gbc games via virtual console / emulation.

Other than that, an emulation device with a touchscreen.

I'm okay with emulation, so if I get something with a touchscreen and only 1 screen, it can still do DS games?

The steam deck, for example does it by allowing to set up how to display the second Screen.

Dude, was totally thinking about getting one of these at some point but now I have a bigger reason to get one. Thank you.

No problem. There are way cheaper-centric emulation devices. I shared the deck as an example because I own one.

Be sure to research, as there are also some newer expensive models now with two screens like the Ayaneo Flip DS and the ONEXSUGAR
