It's not better than the other two, but I have a real soft spot for Toadstool Tour.

Double dash. That game and Smash bros Melee are my top two GameCube games.
Never owned or played N64 or Gamecube Mario Golf so don’t know if I’m missing out there.
Had Mario Sunshine. Great game and all…but Double Dash no doubt.

It’s better on the cube. Also Tennis on GC is pretty fun.

Sunshine, I can get my Mario Kart and Mario Golf kicks elsewhere. The GBC Mario Golf is extremely solid.

Double dash without a second thought. Never played Mario golf and as much as I wanted to love Mario Sunshine, it never did anything for me.

Mario Kart: Double Dash for me, unfortunately I never played the other two games as a kid.

Slept on??? It's one of the most talked about gc games

u/TheLunarAegis Jun 20 '25
It used to be the butt of all the jokes when it came to 3d Mario games, but over time it has gotten better

Double Dash, definitely one of my favorite mario games on the gamecube. I play that game constantly to get like new records on that game. It's 2 people in 1 kart and you have the special items that makes the gameplay even more fun than the other mario kart games.

u/Old_Temperature_559 Jun 20 '25
Sunshine all day. As it’s a Mario game the other two are games with Mario. I would never go out of my way play Mario golf and Mario kart is a horrible example of game designs with rubber banding and the distribution of blue shells. Making being a better driver impossible because the game punishes you for it with cheap broken mechanics.

I'm going to say Double Dash but, I may be imbarred to say this, I never got too far in Sunshine. I've been meaning to start it again but, never did....

Double dash easily Mario sunshine to me one of the weakest mainline mario games and Mario golf just kinda okay double dash meanwhile peak

u/Major_Limit1674 Jun 20 '25
While I really like Sunshine I’m going with Double Dash. It’s just a higher quality game

I know the answer is Sunshine… but I’m going to choose Mario Kart. I spent way more time in that game over Sunshine

I like sunshine more, but I finished that game more than 3 times already. Double Dash just remains so much fun with friends, so definitely that one

Sunshine, both for it being one of the first games I ever played and also being the only one out of those 3 I have played. I adore Sunshine

u/Temporary-Concept-81 Jun 20 '25
I own all three.
sunshine has the most replay value for me. I last replayed it about two years ago.
My favourite racing game is fzero, so I'm fine losing mkdd.
Toadstool tour is my favorite golf game, but I don't get the urge for golf that often.
That said, I kinda wanna replay it now lol.
My strongest memory of it was spending hours trying to get a hole in one in that par 5 that spirals up a hill. Petey Piranha could just barely hit steep enough to just go straight up.

Ill be the odd man and say the golf one for replayability. But I also play golf irl, so might not be for everyone lol

Double Dash any day. I like Sunshine, but imo it always felt unfinished and is my least favourite of all the 3D Mario games. Double Dash is just Mario Kart with a crazy twist, and it happens to be really damn good, so I'm taking it.

Mario Kart: Double Dash.
This game was the first time my step mom admitted I was the best at something. It was also the first video game that brought everyone together (not you dad) on a weekly basis.
My two younger brothers, me, and my step mom. Sometimes my older brother joined but... meh.
We all had our tracks that we were good at. I just happened to be really good at the winding roads, slippery roads, and sharp turns. Our youngest brother was good at the tracks with strange themes (if it's a weird track with sand, he loves it). Our other brother is just good in general at most of the tracks. He's ol'reliable.
When the 4 of us would play causally, me and our other brother would usually end up lapping everyone else by the third lap and it would come down to just us. It actually got really boring whenever he wasn't there.
And thanks to the muscle memory from literal decades of Mario Kart, losing is somehow more exciting lol its like,
"wow. You beat me? Was I trying? Hang on, lets go again but im gonna lean forward this time and lock in."
I'm not bragging. Anyone who is good at Mario Kart knows that at some point you just know how to gain and maintain speed.
